Speedy the Cat's Friends Make Sympathy Cards

This is today's second post...please scroll down for the first!!!

Yesterday's Speedy the Cat's Friend's Challenge was to make a sympathy card. I wanted to CASE a fabulous card Angelnorth posted at SCS HERE. As you can see, I mainly copied her using the watercolor crayons as a backdrop for a silhouette, which I made much darker in keeping with the theme of sympathy. The grass stamp is from Bold and Free and the sentiment is from A Walk in the Woods, both sets from Mark's Finest Papers.

I scribbled three colors on the block, then used an aqua painter with just enough water to blend the colors. The card measures 4.25" square.

This challenge is an excellent excuse to make a sympathy card when (hopefully) you don't need one. They're much harder to make in the moment, don't you think?

Supplies
stamps: Mark's Finest Papers
ink: StazOn black
paper: cream
accessories: watercolor crayons, aqua painter

Absolutely, I hate making sympathy cards for a specific person. This is a great idea, and a beautiful card.

I agree. I played along with Speedy's Friends this week because the sympathy card challenge was just the push I needed to replenish my stash. It *us* harder to make a sympathy card when you are suddenly faced with the need for one. I love those grasses for a sympathy card!

Beautiful card. It's a good idea to have made a few in advance of need because, as you said, they're definitely harder to make in the moment.

I love the way this turned out! I've got to try that background. Stamping under it is a bit scary though!

Ooooh, I feel warm and fuzzy having inspired you in a CASE, Susan! (and glad I came to scroll down your blog since Feedburner sent me your first post of the day but not this one so I hadn't seen it!) Yours came out beautifully and is a perfect sympathy card.
