Sorta Kinda Faux Postage

Today's card is a product of my effort to pull out neglected tools and stamps (remember the Use-Your-Hoard Challenge...still going!), and give them some love, in this case a very old postage-stamp punch and a couple of older Papertrey sets.

Y'all would not believe how I struggled to put this oh-so-simple card together. At first, all I had was the text strip and the faux postage, but there wasn't enough contrast. So I over-stamped the text with a lime green, which looked simply appalling. Then, I face-palmed my way to a black mat. Well, duh. That's the perfect solution.

The important thing is we get there in the end, right?

So, what neglected supplies could you pull out today and give some love?

Supplies
stamps: Papertrey Modern Basics, Text Style
ink: Hero Arts
paper: Papertrey white, black
accessories: dimensionals, black half bead, postage stamp punch

  1. Isn't it just amazing how sometimes the simple solution is the one that eludes us?!

  4. Beautiful card! You got me with the phrase face-palmed, I looked it up. I must be out dated linguistically.

  5. Beautiful card, Susan! I'm currently unmounting my red rubber stamps and reorganizing my craft area. I've already reorganized my clear stamps. It's like I've been reintroduced to all these lovely stamps that I own and I want to play with them all, but no time now or I won't finish what I've started. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel so I must push on :) I'll be pinning your lovely card for future inspiration.

  6. Your card is so perfect! I love the idea of revisiting old stash. I'm in the middle of room reorg now that we've gotten moved into our new home I can concentrate on the room that really matters! I have set aside about half my cardstock stash for downsizing. It is quite intimidating just how much CS I have, let alone any other supply.

  7. Love this card. The layout, colour, background. I just used my neglected paper crimper. Still like the texture it adds to backgrounds. Especially on Kraft paper.
    Thanks for the inspiration.
