Just yesterday, I made an unusual one. For over three decades, my parents have been patrrons of a local Mexican restaurant, which celebrated it's 40th anniversary last weekend. They missed the celebration but are friends with the owner and their family. My parents asked me to make a special anniversary card for them. I used festive colored, layered, long banners for the background. I free-handed a traditional, donkey shaped, silhouette pinata to "hang" over them. I used two different PTI sets to stamp the sentiment "Happy 40th Anniversary!" It turned out quite festive and my parents like it very much. They are looking forward to giving the card to John (the son who manages the restaurant.) We will probably all go for dinner Sat. or Sun., at which time they'll give him the card. It was fun to make!Gabbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07040333894048257419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008375791436102784.post-61579107283898298292012-06-25T23:44:52.274-04:002012-06-25T23:44:52.274-04:00This Tarheel fan appreciates your humor, and I kno...This Tarheel fan appreciates your humor, and I know your uncle is going to appreciate this lovely card.Dixie Cochranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04752465239217092905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008375791436102784.post-22971524246884565252012-06-25T21:43:43.256-04:002012-06-25T21:43:43.256-04:00I always customize my best friends's birthday-...I always customize my best friends's birthday-she's a purple-a-holic (?) so the card is always in sides of that regal color!Betsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10621256290452796775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008375791436102784.post-74319168996180371142012-06-25T17:29:56.347-04:002012-06-25T17:29:56.347-04:00Love the card and your idea for making it look mor...Love the card and your idea for making it look more underwater-ish. I made a customized card this weekend! On accident. I needed to make a card for a friend, rummaged around and around and suddenly the idea of using a rose popped in my head. After the card was made and I was getting ready to send it did I remember that roses are her favorite flower. I'm going to pretend that my subconscious had my back on that one.Princess Judy Palmerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14870980058627037243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008375791436102784.post-83254606672000597972012-06-25T13:22:38.483-04:002012-06-25T13:22:38.483-04:00Cute card! All the stamps on this card look fabulous. And the colors are great! I regularly personalize anything I get an invitation or announcement for, by using part of it. My favorite is graduation announcements. There's always a school logo or emblem, maybe a raised picture of the school, or something you can use to add to the school colors and made a great congratulations-you-did-it card.Suenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008375791436102784.post-30994651072677153272012-06-25T10:25:55.611-04:002012-06-25T10:25:55.611-04:00Great card, Susan. Borrowed stamps for an Eskimo girl standing on a snowy shore and a cruise ship in the background. A friend gave me a beautiful sponged - on - glossy cardstock section for the back piece. Trees were his special love, and he loves telling everyone about the unusual ones he has and where they were transplanted from. I used Tim Holtz' woodgrain embossing folder for the brown main panes, and then stamped and paper-pieced 2 trees for the bottom corner.
