Now I have a silver Cross pen and pencil set that I never take outside my house. I have a black and gold Cross pen that was a gift. I treasure my Cross pens. I also have a Monte Blanc fountain pen that I haven't used in about 10 years. I should buy some ink and use it. Any idea what year Stampin' Up! made the set or whether anyone you know might be selling that set? You story about your pen collection is wonderful and it brought back memories of my own experience with pens. I went to a school where there was the hole in the top of the desk for the ink bottle. I had forgotten all about that.<br />My father, who is still alive, gave my sister and myself plus all the grandchildren a Parker pen and pencil set with our names engraved on them when we graduated from high school. The excitement of getting a pen had died down a bit with the grandchildren but my sister and I knew we had moved into the next part of our lives when we received these. My set is stored away in a drawer but you have given me the push to find it and pull it out again. Later on I had pens that used ink cartridges...and yes, leaking was also a problem. It took a bit longer to write with fountain pens than ball points because you had to use a blotter as you went along and, if you wrote enough, the pen had to be refilled. Though I do appreciate the convenience of ball points, I miss the romance of a handwritten letter done with pen and ink. Oh, and do you remember writing invisible letters with lemon juice that you had to iron in order to read them?Dorishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03365905998420493841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008375791436102784.post-53874196158173017632013-12-30T07:25:11.528-05:002013-12-30T07:25:11.528-05:00What a great story! I just really liked the way it wrote because I'm left handed and it doesn't smear the way some do despite being smooth to write with. I used that particular pen to write every university exam I ever took. I still keep that pen with my Copics for writing all my notes and letters since I prefer handwritten letters to computer typed ones, even if they are a bit shorter. It's not a very expensive pen, but my personal favourite and I don't want to admit how old it is now.Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17723285972226633995noreply@blogger.com
