Could it have been your ink or did you try heating from underneath? I always have trouble embossing if my ink is not "gooey" enough. And I've found that heating from underneath keeps the powder from blowing away when I'm using certain inks or powders. I was really having a problem with one of the newer Ranger tinsel powders, but heating from underneath made all the difference.
