Life is a Journey
If life is a journey, what do you call it when you go on vacation?
I'm currently in Madison, Wisconsin, with my totally insane husband who, for some reason I cannot fathom, is competing in his fifth Ironman race on Sunday. In case you don't know, Ironman Triathlons consist of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile marathon run.
Yeah, I typed those numbers right. That's a total of 140.6 miles that must be completed in under 17 hours. George has finished two races (2006 and 2008), DNF'ed two (2005 and in 2007 at Lake Placid, he was pulled off the course in an ambulence around mile 130). This year, I'm praying for no ambulence, no medical tent visit, and a good finish.
I'll post a few cards while we're here, but mainly, I'm going to be blogging about the race on my other blog, Questioning my Intelligence. I hope you'll join the fun over there, especially on Sunday, when I'll have links to streaming video of the finish line and updates on George's splits. I'm not really a sports fan, generally speaking, but Ironman races are simply cool, with several thousand ordinary but crazy people racing who aren't professionals...and even the pros are really nice!
Today's card was made with PTI's Birds of a Feather set. I scored the two lines using my Scor-Pal (if you don't have one, get one!), and stamped the bird prints and sentiment. The rhinestones are my favorite olive ones from Hero Arts.
Supplies
stamps: PTI Birds of a Feather
ink: Palette dark chocolate, SU old olive
paper: PTI white
accessories: ScorPal, rhinestones
Good luck George! Try and avoid the ambulance and give your wife a stress-free weekend!
