This card demonstrates the beauty that is a stamp positioner because no WAY could those SU woodmounted snowflakes be all lined up so perfectly without one. But now I'm afraid to stamp a sentiment on it because I stupidly assembled the card (the white panel is up on dimensionals and each snowflake has a gemstone). What if I ruin it? I suppose I could lift the panel off and use it on another card, but it'll proably get wrinkled and not look as pristine if I do.
Indecision, once again, may or may not be my problem.
What do you think? Would a nice Christmas sentiment inside the card suffice? Or does the front need a focal point, which a sentiment would provide? I just can't tell.
BTW, today's card reminds me of Nordic sweaters, which do not have sentiments. Three quarters of DH's ancestry comes from Finland, Norway, and Sweden, so I want to send it to someone in his family.

My opinion is to leave it off, and include it inside. This is beautiful just the way it is!
ReplyDeleteI was leaning towards sentiment on the front until you mentioned Nordic sweaters. Now I think it should go on the inside only. This card is absolutely perfect as is for that Nordic look! Again, I love your style.
ReplyDeleteThis card is so lovely just the way it is... But, contrary to what SU has labeled these, they cannot be snowflakes as they have more than 6 points. This is just the way the Creator made them. Sorry to add baggage to any perfectionist reading this... I have been trying to educate SU for years to no avail...

How PRETTY! I usally always put my sentiments on the inside...I think this looks great as is! But if you feel it needs something and you dont want to mess it up maybe try adding a tag just out of the white card stock and tuck it lightly into the top right or left of the panel....Not sure what it will do but it wont mess it up to try...I do think I like it just like it is though....Have a Great Day!!

I vote "no" for adding a sentiment. I think it might be overkill to a lovely, simple card. This leaves the snowflakes as the focal point. Besides......where would you put it? There's not enough room to put it under the panel. And putting it above the panel would so dilute the snowflakes it would be a pity. So just leave it; it's perfect as is!

ReplyDeleteI would leave off a sentiment but if you feel it is missing something - maybe a skinny ribbon tied right above the design. And the bonus - if it looks bad...cut it off! Nothing ruined. Great designs!
ReplyDeleteEither way it will be stunning. I think I'd add a ribbon above the panel with a tag, but I'm no design genius. The good thing is that you can wrap the ribbon, make the tag and just see how it looks without wrecking the card...

ReplyDeleteI sometimes stamp a sentiment on a scrap, punch it out and tuck it in above one of the images, behind the panel (or just trim it if the panel is securely fastened)....but the general consensus is to put the sentiment on the inside. Either way, it's a beauty of a card!
The first thing I thought of when I saw the card was "thick and warm winter sweater". The card is perfect the way it is!

ReplyDeleteYou could try stamping a teeny tiny little sentiment on a piece of acetate and maybe seeing how it looks in the bottom left hand corner? Maybe? Personally, I love the card the way it is, but if you don't try, you'll always wonder.

ReplyDeleteI really like this card and would not add a sentiment to the outside. I do feel as if I want my eye to zoom-in on a focal point though, and in that regard I wonder... What if you made the second from the right snowflake a little bigger? or popped up? or had some other image that could help your eye stay weighted on the page?

Oh no, I have just such a card sitting on my work table, without the panel glued down because for a week I've been moving that panel around, wondering if it's enough and exactly where it should go.

Snowflakes can't have more than six points? I love learning tidbits like that. Spiders can't have more than 8 legs. "Several" means 8 or more.

ReplyDeleteI would stamp the desired sentement on a scrap white paper and carefully trim it out -but make sure it's from an acrylic set. Then place it where you think you may want it. Step back and see how it looks (ignore the obvious cutting outline).
ReplyDeleteIf you decide you want the sentiment, you place the sentiment carefully on your block at the very edge, so it won't bump the raised panel and stamp.
I do this all the time, cause like you, I get all excited and start adding panels before I am done!!

Ah the age old dilemma... trying to figure out when something is done enough. I think either way you go is fine. This says "Christmas" without actually having a sentiment on it. But there is also enough space to add some wording without having it look overdone. It does remind me of the nordic sweaters my mother used to knit for me.

ReplyDeleteEither way would be great!! However, if you do decide to add the sentiment stamp it on a scrap piece of white cardstock, trim it so that there is a bit more cs below the sentiment and tuck it under the pane. I've used this technique to rescue me a few times in the past!!
