Font of You had to come live with me, despite its entirely stupid name. First, I love type, even if using it on CAS cards is very challenging. Second, this set is just so innovative and cool and creative, despite its entirely stupid name. (I said that already, didn't I?) I HAD to get it.
But it's very hard to use. Sigh.
The bracket border punch I bought recently (because of Ann) seemed appropriate with Font of You, especially with the umbrella. Both cards use essentially the same layout, with the border opposite the sentiment. The colors are from this year's in colors, which I only have the markers for. Never doing THAT again.
For the second card, I wish I'd made the Thanks Dusty Durango to match the border and flowers. As it is, the emphasis is thrown on the very much. Oh, well.

I think these are really great!Love the colour combo and the use of the markers. I can definitely see the challenges of working with these, though! Sometimes the designers at SU have cool ideas that somehow don't translate that well into rubber for some reason. Remember the word search background? It SHOULD have worked! LOL! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI love the bracket punch idea, what brand is it?

I like how you colored the sentiment in the second card - the "thanks" really pops out and grabs the eye. Great cards, both of them. I only bought the markers last year, too, because I have all of the pads from previous years and it's getting crowded in my drawer - but, like you, I won't do that again, either. Much smarter to buy the pads and if I need to color in a lined image I just use my blender pen. Best of both worlds.
ReplyDeletePetra, it's a Fiskars. I bought mine at JoAnn's.
ReplyDeleteI too love this set, especially the umbrella! But after using clear stamps I never seem to pull out the wood ones...{mental note, make my self use my wood mounted stamps}. I love what you have done with these images!! You'd never know they are "difficult" for you to use!! :-)
ReplyDeleteOnce again, thank you for the frank comments and admissions of things you would do differently. Most bloggers give the impression of working effortlessly, but I've learned more from you, when you speak honestly. Great cards for "difficult" stamps.
ReplyDeleteWhat you claim to be 'hard to work with' has turned into a beautiful card!
ReplyDeletethanks for showing us these.
I love your honesty, it is much appreciated for those of us building up our supplies. Oh yes, and beautiful cards!
ReplyDeletelove these cards,susan.
ReplyDeletei like your color choices, how you combined the stamps from different sets, and i really love the square size. i find that very appealing to my eye.
thanks for sharing. your thoughts and insights are much appreciated.

Love these creations! It's always interesting to read about your insights. I, too, was drawn to this stamp set... it may find it's way on my wish list again!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, as always!
ReplyDeleteOn the second card, I like the bermuda on the top half of the sentiment and the durango on the bottom. If you had switched them, then both of the upper elements (the flowers and the thanks) would have been the same color. And of course, so would the lower two. That would have bugged me.
I love both of these! Now I need that set, too. Grrrr.
ReplyDeleteThe bracket edge is genius!! I'm really liking these two cards - I, too, have been eerily attracted to this set but have been able to resist, so far!
ReplyDeleteThese are two wonderful cards! I hadn't noticed the "font of you" set -- I find if I don't look closely at the catalogues, I'm not nearly so tempted! ;) Unlike you, the name tickles my juvenile sense of humour, too. :D I LOVE the border punch -- I would never have thought of buying it without seeing you use it first. (Probably won't find it in Canada, tho...)
ReplyDeleteI think these are perfectly lovely cards!
ReplyDeletelovely cards...all ready for spring to arrive....
ReplyDeleteI love the pretty images and colors you've used. The Bracket Border is such a fun border too!
ReplyDeleteBrackets as border......genius again!
ReplyDeleteAs hard as I wracked my brain, I couldn't think of a use for brackets. :-(
I've had to redefine myself since arriving here. What an interesting journey you take us on, Susan.
I love that set, but I was afraid I wouldn't know how to use them. Glad you found a way. And Bermuda Bay is the only In Color ink I liked enough to keep around.
