Here are a couple of very quick, punchy cards to pay tribute to some of StampinUp's retiring bold brights (and one soft subtle).
This card uses gable green and green galore for a fresh, monochromatic birthday card. I will miss these two colors most of the bold brights that are retiring.
The purple card uses almost almost amethyst and lovely lilac.
Simplicity Tip: This type of card is perfect for those times when you need something fast, including a gift set! SU's Sincere Salutations has eight sentiments that are pretty and big enough to be the focal point of a card and cover most possible card-giving situations. Punch three shapes (all the same, or two small and one large) for two opposing corners to add interest to an otherwise boringly symmetrical card. Add a few spots of bling or pearls, and pop a layer, and you're done.

paper: white; SU gable green, green galore, almost amethyst, lovely lilac
accessories: various punches, dimensionals, pearls
These are 2 lovely cards, Susan, with immense appeal! Plus they're CAS, and not hard to do. Just proves simple can be elegant in the right hands! BTW, your 2nd card looks anything but amethyst and lilac on my computer --- it is SO BLUE! It's lovely that way, but I'll have to make one with a.a. and l.l. to see what yours really looks like!

Yeah, it's blue on mine as well. I tried to fiddle with the Picassa settings, but it definitely wanted to be blue. Sorry about that!

ReplyDeleteI agree, I will miss Green Galore and Gable Green too, especially the darker of the 2. I am considering trying to get my hands on a package but doubt there is time now. My alternative is to take a piece to my lss and see if I can get something else close enough to match my ink!!

ReplyDeleteI love these! What a great idea for card sets! I'm going to miss these colors also! It seems lots of people on SCS make fun of Green Galore, but I love it for punched out leaves (I use the SU five-petal punch and then cut them apart into groups of 2, 2, and 1 for leaves peeking out behind flowers). I also love Almost Amethyst.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the Simplicity Tip. This will go into my idea notebook for future use. I'm glad that I haven't gotten into SU; I don't need to plan around its changes. They do make products that turn into lovely cards like yours, though.

ReplyDeleteThe amethyst and lilac look blue on my computer too, but I just bought Almost Amethyst (HAD to have your fave color)and really would have named it Periwinkle Blue, if I had been asked. Periwinkle Blue is my most flattering color to wear.....difficult to find in clothes, however.
