Me? LateBlossom? Posting about Copics. Sunday is a good day for a miracle, don't you think?
This miracle is due to fortuitous blog candy from Sue Berker. She's the reason I have six copics (I bought one other, a gray one for outlining). I've won blog candy from her twice now. The first time she sent me three shades of red, and the latest brought these three shades of green to live with me.
Most coloring I've done has been with Bic Mark-It markers and Sharpies, and I'm quite happy with them because I rarely color anyway, recent posts to the contrary. Copics are lovely, though, and for those who really enjoy coloring, I'm sure they are worth the money. For now, however, I'm relying on my astonishing good luck for acquiring them, LOL!
For this quick card, I used Gina K Deluxe cardstock (thank you again, Bahb!), which has a nice, smooth finish for markers, and is very thick so they don't bleed through, which makes them perfect for one-layer cards.
All I did was stamp the flip flop in Palette Noir, and then I laid down the medium green over the whole image, added the darker green on the bottom in circular motions, and finally used the medium green to blend the two.
I then stamped the black thongs over the green and giggled with glee.
Live IS good.

ReplyDeleteI dream of owning Copics. Are Sharpies acid-free? I have tons of Sharpies I could be using for cards... What posts show you using Sharpies? Just curious to see the results. :)
ReplyDeleteGina, I have no idea if sharpies are acid free. I'll be posting a sharpie/bic card later this week. You use the same technique with them as you do with Copics.
ReplyDeleteWow Susan and Copics! Thanks for that info about GinaK paper - I have been wanting to do OLC with my Copics but don't like the bleeding through on the PTI cardstock. Oh and I love your perfect CAS card!
ReplyDeletebeautiful colouring, i love my copics and my prismas. My copics tend to bleed through my card base though so thats when i crack open my tin of pencils!

ReplyDeleteOh no, you're using Copics. How can a wannabe keep up? :P I must try using my Sharpies to see if I can achieve a somewhat similar effect. I'm guessing part of the joy of Copics is the gradations of colour. I think I have two or three shades in some colours...

Lindsey, DON'T PANIC! (hee, hee, I feel like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!). Tomorrow or Tuesday, I'll be posting a tutorial on using Bic and Sharpie markers to get the shaded effect of Copics. Copics are easier to blend, but cheap Bic and Sharpies work fine, too.
