I chose this color scheme with the military in mind. Gray is how the world looks when you're away from family. Yellow is, of course, the color of hope to welcome and be welcomed home. It was super easy to ink up the gray houses, then stamp the yellow house on scrap, cut it out, and pop it up. I lined up the sentiment to start right under the yellow house.
I have a friend who is the head of the spouses' group for a B-1 bomber squadron that is deployed right now. The stress and anxiety of being a single parent while your spouse is overseas is considerable (believe me, I know!), so I'm sending this card to her. If you know someone in the military, please take time to thank them for their service.

ReplyDeleteLove the card. Your explanation for the color scheme is interesting. My husband is retired Navy and his world only looked gray because he was deployed on a big gray ship :)

A very thoughtful and wonderful card. Great design and you've given me an idea for a PTI stamp set I have. Thanks for the reminder about the thanking the military. When we flew to Washington for Christmas John had his camouflage baseball cap on with aviation patches on it. He also had his flight jacket he wears all of the time which also has aviation patches on it. I would say that half a dozen strangers came up to him and said "Thank you for your service." (John was in the Navy at the end of WWII) I was impressed. Good reminder for me at the time.
ReplyDeleteSimply wonderful card! Great colour thought. As for the military wives...yes, they deserve a medal for all they go through. My son's RAF colleague (Harrier pilot) and family left the U.K. 18 months ago for a 3 year deployment/exchange with one of your USAF guys....the family (3 small children) are based at Yuma and recently D came home from a 7 month stint in Japan. He also has had to cope with the fact that in the U.K. Harriers have now been withdrawn from service and his career which he trained for is up in the air (pun intended)....no idea what is happening for the family at the moment....so, yes, they have a lot to cope with and away from their family as well.
