Little Things: Day 3

First of all, WOW! I can't believe how many people are participating in the comments. I'm doing my best to read them all, but it's taking a while!

Second, I will announce the winners of the Day 1 giveway later on Tuesday.

Third, today's LITTLE THING is rhinestones and pearls! These are my go-to LITTLE THINGS for taking a ho-hum card and making it something extra special. It's just so incredibly easy! To place the self-adhesive bling, I use a craft knife to cut them off their adhesive strip (if needed), lift them off the backing sheet, and place them wherever I want them.

Bling comes in varying quality. Look for clear gemstones that aren't unstuck from their backing before you buy and pearls that are fairly evenly colored (some natural variation is fine). And like real wealth, DON'T HOARD IT. Use it. Freely and without regret. You'll always be able to find more.

My first card uses self-adhesive rhinestones I got for free from the now-closed StampinTreasures. I think they are from Memory Box. And for those of you who hate green galore and gable green, here's a card to show you how cheerful and pretty they can be! Now, aren't you sad StampinUp discontinued them?

The second card uses pink half-pearls. If you're a regular reader, you will recognize my use of the First Theory of Using Colored Cardstock on CAS Cards: light base, darker mat, monochromatic color scheme. It's going to take a long time for me to get sick of this. It just works so beautifully!

Three lucky readers will win three packs each of rhinestones and/or pearls! REMEMBER TO COMMENT ON THE BLOG, not via email. Email entries will not be considered for the drawing.

  1. Great post! I have little items like this but find it so hard to incorporate them into my cards. Its one of the things I try and work on.

I dont wear any makeup at all so my favorite little cosmetic thing would have to be my Garnier curl scrunch gel. Its very dry here in Alaska and my naturally curly hair gets VERY frizzy if I dont use the gel to help keep things in check.

  2. I am liking these colors. Using that card stock, I see. I love using my eye liner pencil. It just adds the right touch and shape to my eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Love both of your cards! And I definitely want to try your monochromatic plan soon!

As for little beauty thing: low-sulfate shampoo (I'm using cheap tresemme naturals brand) and the plopping method for curly hair. Why did no one tell me I could have great looking non-frizzy curly hair with approximately 3 minutes of work?!?!?

  4. What makes me smile is a wonderful scent (any one of many) of lotion from Bath & Bodyworks! I have loved their stuff for many years and was so happy a year or so ago when they finally opened here in Calgary! I think my favourite scent of theirs is the Twisted Peppermint from Christmastime!

    ReplyDelete
  5. As always, I LOVE your cards. I do like your use of a coloured base lately.

My little thing in the morning is Body Shop's Satsuma body wash and body butter! It's orange smell just livens up my day. I love it when I put on my robe at night and it still smells like it from the morning... puts a smile on my face every time!

    ReplyDelete
  6. DO NOT enter me into the drawing. I do not need more stuff. However, I looooooove your green card and plan to steal your idea and use up my retired paper stash.

And to answer your "beauty" question: Victoria Secret's Pear Glace body lotion.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I love a bit of lipstick to make myself feel better. Great cards, love the shading with the cardstock.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Love the pink card! I carry chapstick and lip gloss with me at all times.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I am really going to use the First Theory of Using Colored Cardstock on CAS cards soon! Scented lotion makes me happy. I truly could hoard it like I hoard some of my crafting supplies!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thanks for this advice "Use it. Freely and without regret." I need to start using my stash of supplies rather than unintentionally hoarding them. There will always be more pretty papers & supplies to replace anything I use up.

My 'little thing' today is my favorite perfume. A little spritz gives me a lift every morning! That and a great cup of coffee! ;-)

Bling is a beautiful thing! :) Lovely cards.

My favorite "little beauty" thing is brow gel! Sounds crazy but out of control brows aren;t attractive! Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  12. My fave little thing in my make-up bag is some super sparkly lip gloss....with a little pink tint to it. Makes me look all made-up when I put it on!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I need to take note of your rules, and I especially like 'use it freely and without regret' - excellent advice!
My little thing would be my daily moisturiser, I can't be without it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. My fav is a gadget called "Roll-a-Lotion" from Bed, Bath and Beyond - it's got a long handle - you put your fav body lotion in it and you can get your whole back and the rest of yourself all lotioned up after a shower - LOVE it!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I LOVE rhinestones!!

I enjoy good quality scented powder, from Crabtree and Evelyn - rose or lily of the valley.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Rhinestones are my go-to favorite for my cards! Gotta have 'em!!!

I love my electric toothbrush and floss when I'm getting ready for the day! Who wants to flash their pearly whites with a big chunk o' breakfast in their teeth?!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Your monochromatic cards are so pretty! I must remember to do this, esp when my mojo is in a rut.
Since my hair is primarily silver/grey and I have no intention of dyeing it, I do have to add color to my eyebrows or I really look washed out. The one and only eyebrow color that looks fairly natural on cool, pale skin with silver/grey hair is Slate gel by Bobbie Brown, which has been discontinued! Whah! But, I'll use it and enjoy it while I have it!
Thanks for all your giveaway goodies!

    ReplyDelete
  18. without a doubt, mine is the fresh smell of fragrance..my confidence-booster...lol...

    ReplyDelete
  19. I always love your matting! I don't regularly wear makeup, so I would say my favorite little thing for getting ready is either my hair mousse (I'm curly!) or my mouthwash!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Love your monochromatic cards. who am I kidding, I love all your cards.

I don't do makeup so I would have to say vaseline is my favorite beauty item. Rough elbows, chapped hands, dry legs - just call me gator. Just kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hands down, it's eyeliner! Gotta love how simple it is, but it gives a big boost. Thanks for all your thoughts and lessons on design, I've learned a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Love your First Theory of Using Colored Cardstock on CAS cards...I'm going to try that. The little rhinestones dress it up just enough, without overdressing.

I love my Oil of Olay Definity tinted moisturizer. Moisture, color and sunscreen all in one product...makes me happy every day to do it all in one step.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I could not live without my Bare Minerals Well Rested under-eye concealor! It is THE BEST!!It makes me look fresh and awake every morning :)

Love those two cards... so super cute!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I hate morning, nothing makes me happy unless you count coffee. Maybe I could use some of your bling to brighten my day.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm so not into the little things... I'm as low maintenance as they come. Does coffee count?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love Bath & Body Works White Tea and Ginger Body Wash and Body Spray...it smells so clean and yummy!

PS...love the pink base card. (The others are great too, I am just into pink these days....)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I do really like the added color when you use your FTOUCC! And I totally concur...adding a bit of bling is a sue fire way of taking the card up a notch!
My little thing in the morning is using my YES to Carrots lip tint gel. Pretty AND yummy.

  28. Hands down: A Perfect World Tea Tree skin guardian by Origins. VISIBLE improvement, I'm not lying. A little pricy but, oh! so worth it. I feel pampered every morning.

Thanks for doing this, Susan. You are an angel.

  29. Very pretty cards! No make-up but I do love Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I was already sold on rhinestones & pearls. They surely lift a card.
I am a very basic sort of girl when it comes to grooming. My one fancy little thing is tinted moisturiser with sunscreen called In a Good Light by Mecca. It looks good & is good for me.
Also, since the beginning of the week you have put From Little Things, Big Things Grow - a song by Australian artist extrordinaire Paul Kelly - in my head. It's an inspiring song about Aboriginal land rights and catchy to boot. You can put it in your head too if you go here.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_ndC07C2qw&feature=related

Just thought I'd randomly share that :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would have to say for me it's a little bit of eyeliner. I can go without almost all other make up but put on a little liner and I look so much more awake and fresh (at least I think so!).

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like having scented shampoo. I change them up so I can get a new scent in the morning shower.
I still need to try your FTOUCC.
Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't do makeup, so I'll go with shampoo - there's nothing like a clean scalp :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. My favourite make-up little thing? Has to be eyeliner! My eyes disappear without it. But a little bit of navy eyeliner and I feel like my eyes are the window into my soul.... :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. My favorite daily thing is 100% aloe. I mix a bit of it in my hand with my favorite Bath and Body lotion...this not only stretches the more expensive lotion...but I get the benefit of a great fragrance AND the best product for my skin available!

    ReplyDelete
  36. What beautiful cards and a great tip for layering colors! I have long hair and my favorite little thing is a barrette to keep it pulled back neatly out of my face.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm lovin' this monochromatic look! I must give it a try! I like the freshness of a lightly scented body wash.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Love this method of matting and using bling.
    Favorite thing: my lipstick
    Myrna

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wait, I'm not supposed to hoard rhinestones?! But they're so pretty and sparkly!

I just recently discovered Curel Daily Moisture lotion--it's wonderful and comes in a mostly white, very uncluttered pump bottle, with a touch of spring green, so this CAS girl doesn't mind it sitting out on my counter.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I hoard rhinestones like there's no tomorrow..thankfully we Indian's love bling on everything, clothes, purses, shoes, jewelery! And if I go into the wholesale market, I pick up a 1000 bling stones (2-3mm) for 20-30 cents.

As cosmetic favorite...I love my Johnson's baby cologne, summer breeze. A spritz is enough to freshen my day..I even carry it in my purse for instant freshness all day!

    ReplyDelete
  41. My favorite mascara is essential. By Loreal, it is two sided, white and red. Slides off in a sheet. Amazing. I do love rinestones and use them up--so I always need more!

    ReplyDelete
  42. a favourite daily little thing? Hmmmmmmmmmm - my Clinique Aromatics Elixir I reckon - don't feel dressed without it!!

LOVELY cards too btw - loving the pink one

    Kathyk

    ReplyDelete
  43. Love these cards, as it happens I just made some similar CAS cards and also applied the 'when in doubt, use bling' rule.
I really love my mascara. I am blond and so I hev invisible eye-lashes. A touch of mascara really opens up my eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Green Galore? Gable Green? Oh, my!
There is "favorite" and then there is necessary. My one thing that is both is Nexxus Mousse Plus so my fine hair looks like it actually has a style.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't always wear makeup, but when I do, eyeshadow makes such a difference and makes me feel fancy. Thanks for the colour rule--simple but effective.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Love the pink card....I don't do pink well...not sure why. My go to item when getting ready is my Avene moisturizer with sunscreen.

    ReplyDelete
  47. So hot here, that I love a spritz of light eau de cologne!
And bling - gems or pearls!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I definitely have enough bling (including some from you!), so no need to enter me in the drawing.
Two more classic "Susan" cards today!

My favorite little thing is lip balm -- either classic Carmex or Burt's Bees -- in the tube. Never leave home without it!

    ReplyDelete
  49. yes, i miss the greens. but the new colors...ahhhh, wonderful. little things? my little thing is how quickly i can put my face on, thanks to my routine of simple little things - oil of olay cream, revelon foundation and maybelline shadow and mascara.......and practice. the right little things add up!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Such pretty cards...especially the lovely pink one. I need to use my bling. I don't mean to hoard them but I guess I have too much "stuff" (or "crap" according to DH) that I don't get around to using enough stuff.

I love large hair clips to be able to pull back my hair during the hot months. My hair is thick so it has to be able to hold a lot of hair.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I like a little bling (just a little) in my eye shadow and have a few from bare escentuals that work.

PS - Pretty card, but I don't miss the greens from SU (wink)

    ReplyDelete
  52. OH, I've got to start using the rhinestones and pearls that I have.... I am a hoarder....lol

I don't wear much make up,,, but,,,I must have my eyeliner on. If I don't, I look tired... so before I leave the house, it's on !! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dark Kiss body lotion from Bath & Bodyworks....the fragrance...the silky smooth skin. That is what does it for me in the morning!
Love the cards...I am going to try to remember not to hoard my bling...for some reason I just have a difficult time parting with it! lol

    ReplyDelete
  55. Beautiful cards. The little cosmetic that makes me happy is my pale pink lipstick. It brings on some color to my pale looking face.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I have just started using bling so I don't have lots but I use it here and there on cards.
My favorite is Kiss My Face Olive & Aloe Fragrance Free Ultra Moisturizer. Finally I found something I can use .

    ReplyDelete
  57. I love the pink card!
Recently, I bought a liquid eye liner pen (or something like that), and it is just so easy to make a nice eye liner with it. That makes me so happy, because it used to take me ages to do.. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I wear very little makeup but the last few years I've really enjoyed lipstick. I learned a few things reading all of the comments here. First - I must get some of the eyebrow gel someone mentioned - I have very unmanageable eyebrows. I'm also going to look up the brow dye someone mentioned. And lastly, since I like to wear lipstick, I'm fascinated with the ads that show very glossy looking lips - someone mentioned they use that. I'll have to look for some of that as well. Love the cards, BTW. Awesome and fun questions.

    ReplyDelete
  59. i love your style!

i think my fave cosmetic aisle find is What Not To Wear's makeup artists (Carmindy) brand of make-up. The cream blush is awesome! i lovelovelove it!

  60. Lovely CAS card. You've really mastered this style which is why I love following your blog - so much inspiration!

My favourite is perfume. My grandmother used to say you're never fully dressed without a nice whiff. I've never forgotten that and I wear perfume everyday.

    cheers,
    Malyn

  61. Lovin' the bling...it takes just a touch o' bling to take card to a new level.

My favorite beauty item...Victoria's Secret Very Sexy spray. I spritz some on...even if I'm not leaving the house.

  62. Pretty cards! I love the format.
Nice makeup brushes make my day. I use Bare Minerals makeup, so a good brush is key to applying it.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Love your cards, Susan! I am always buying more pearls-so afraid I'll run out!
I do the minimal make up thing every day, even though I am home all day. Wouldn't want to scare anyone that comes to the door, or myself-LOL. I would have to say there are two things I never skip: Emlin under eye concealer and Bare Escentuals blush.

    ReplyDelete
  64. makeup concealor to hide the red from my face

    ReplyDelete
  65. Love the bling on both these cards, and I think the colours are just gorgeous.

Congratulations on your Blog Anniversary - I do enjoy visiting, reading and picking up tips - thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Rhinestones and pearls are one of my favourite ways to dress up a card too.

I'd have to say that my fav little thing when it comes to grooming would have to be my body wash. It's soy milk and almond scented. (I almost said flavoured.) It smells very yummy!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I've always loved gable green! It's great with a turquoise blue. My favorite thing for my beauty routine (too bad the outcome doesn't always match the name!) is my eyebrow pencil, oddly enough....can't live without it! No one ever told me that perimenopause would steal my eyebrows!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Two great cards! I especially like the pink one; (I'm not a big fan of green, lol, but it is a nice card, too!).
My little thing that makes me ready for the day is my perfume. I usually have one favorite kind and wear that until it no longer smells anymore, then I start the dreaded search for another "favorite" perfume.

    ReplyDelete
  69. What is it about mascara that makes me feel so "dressed", so altered, so blinged. My little make-up bling thing.

    ReplyDelete
  70. One LITTLE THING from the beauty that makes me happy when you're getting ready to face the day is mascara. I've gone out in public many times sans any makeup. But when I do get all "prettified" IT NEVER looks complete without mascara. 'Tis what it is!

    lcampbel@courts.state.ny.us

    ReplyDelete
  71. As always; stuning cards even if so simple!
As for "little things" I think about a product called "Eye Fix" from Elizabeth Arden that I put on my eyelids before the make up and it stays in place all day!
    Charlotta / La Vikinga

    ReplyDelete
  72. I love lip gloss. My favorite thing to wear every day (along with my earrings - I'm a fanatic - have over 300). thanks again for a chance at some yummy stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Both are great cards-love the look of a little bling.

Eucerin lotion is good for my dry skin-great~

    ReplyDelete
  74. What LITTLE THING from the cosmetic or beauty/grooming aisle makes me happy when I'm getting ready to face the day? Well, except for lipstick, I don't "do" makeup, so I'd have to say that the little thing that makes me happy when I get ready in the morning is lotion that keeps my winter-dry skin from getting itchy. Not being itchy makes me happy! My favorite lotion is this wonderful handcrafted goat milk lotion (from goats who frolic near Cincinnati, OH). The Apples 'N Spice scent is *heavenly*! THAT makes me happy. :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. My little Tweezerman tweezers for stray little chin hairs.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I have to remember to put on make-up... I'm more the dry my hair & out the door kind of "girl". However, not before my Oil of Olay & chapstick is applied. 2 little things I'm never without.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Love the cards. And you're right - your monochromatic pattern makes for some of the best CAS cards. FYI - I've discovered some cute little glimmer stickers that mimick the bling. I send almost all of my cards out of state to my family and need to make sure they are nice and flat. These stickers give a little shimmer and bling without adding any dimension to the card. Definitely my new little thing!

My favorite little thing from the beauty aisle is my Jergens lotion - the original scent. I love it and it always reminds me of my Grandma Johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm a no-makeup gal and my entire beauty routine consists of shampoo and soap, so I don't have a lot of little things in this area. I'm going to go with a good pair of tweezers as my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Love the cards, I actually CASed the one you showed a couple of weeks ago. My favorite thing is minty toothpaste to start off my day!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Gorgeous CAS cards...I have started using the blings now....I was hoarding them till now...lol.
I love the smell of my Dove oil shower first thing in the morning....kick start to the lovely spring day.

  82. Sorry I deleted my previous comment - I should really check my spelling BEFORE posting!!! Love your sweet cards, CAS + a little addition of bling = perfect! Mmmmm, so what's my one little thing? I guess right now it would have to be some rather nice body lotion that didn't cost the earth but gives me a little lift every morning as it smells like everyone would like a spring meadow to smell! Jo x

    ReplyDelete
  83. Lip gloss and mascara...that's about it for me "pretty-ing" it up...but they do help me feel like I've made an effort!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I love your green card....actually I love most of your creations!!! My favorite little item is the ey cream that hides wrinkles. Hitting fifty this year, but love it when people tell me i don't look my age!

  85. rEADING SOME OF THE COMMENTS, I'm surprised at how many don't wear make-up. I use a special concealer that is green that takes the redness away, due to psoriasis. also I love moonlight path scent from bath and body works, it just makes me feel good. Love the cas look in color.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I have a little magic hairbrush in my purse. When my regular bathroom brush doesn't make me look good, I can pull that one out and it does the trick. Not sure why or how it works, but it does.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Susan, I love both your cards. I've always loved GG and GG, and using them together looks great with your tree. The bling is essential! I can't understand why I love the pink card so much --- I find pink hard to use, and pink leaves? --- but I do! What a couple of pretty, springy cards. For make-up, I wear blush and lipstick, and I'm good to go. What makes me feel PRETTY, and feminine, and dressed up on a jeans day is perfume. And my favorite is Cherry Blossom from Bath & Body Works........which they're discontinuing, of course! Aaaand, just like the pearls dressed up your card, pearls on Sunday make me feel TOTALLY dressed!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I have always loved these color combos and YES I am still annoyed that SU did away with them!

My beauty essential...moisturizer. I can do without most make-up but I have to have my moisturizer!

  89. Love the simple mats and focal images. My favorite make-up products are a Bobbi Brown powder bronzer (very light color) that I use year round instead of a blush, and a Bobbi Brown lip gloss. I have four tubes of it since I grabbed up several when they discontinued it. I hate that about cosmetic companies!

    ReplyDelete
  90. beautiful use of color!

My little thing HAS to be my tweezer. At this age and stage of life stray hairs on the face/chin seem to pop up hourly!! Nothing makes me feel worse......therefore the tweezers make me feel much better and ready to face the day! I even carry some in my purse just in case!
Second little thing would be my perfume. I've been wearing the same scent for over 30 years and it's "Skin" by Bonne Bell. A relatively cheap drugstore perfume but I just love it. My husband always liked it back when we were in high school too! There isn't an expensive perfume in the world I would rather wear than this.
Matter of fact, most expensive perfumes give me a headache!

    ReplyDelete
  91. i like gable green and green galore!! beautiful card!

my favorite little thing from the "beauty aisle" my DHC (a skincare line) under eye cream for sure! love it!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Has to be toothpaste. Nothing starts the day better than clean teeth & mouth.

As always, your cards are great. I used your technique of using an oval stamp as a table or plate on a card yesterday. It was the perfect solution. Otherwise the cupcake was just sort of floating on the card and looked awkward. I used an oval Nestability with white CS, added some red & blue dots (little boy's b'day card) and a sparkly "5" and it looked great.

    ReplyDelete
  93. LOL! Love the hoarder comment, my girlfriends still tease me about hoarding eyelets back when they were the "it" thing, ages ago...still have a ton of them, should have used them up!!! lol!
I personally like the 2 greens and wish they would have kept them. :) Cute cards, as usual. :) You using color bases gives me that push to get back into them again too, thanks for that because I have been stuck, Love the white so much!!!!

Anyway, reading most of these posts, I am so jealous of all the women who don't wear make up!!!! I don't wear much but the little I wear I need!!! My fav item, right now, that makes me feel pretty is my new Tarte lip gloss pencil, goes on with a touch of color and it makes me feel daring! :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. I also enjoy reading some of the comments. What a wide variety there are! I love your cards and the bit of 'bling' just adds that something extra. Even though I know that using perfume is not wanted in some places, I still like a little zap of it. It is like 'bling' for me.

    ReplyDelete
  95. It's been a fun three days with your Little Things posts! I LOVE the cards and the blings!! For me, it's the little touch of lipstick when I do make-up...that's all I need to make me feel pretty ( although I need more than just lipstick). It never fails me!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Love the simplicity of your cards, I'm afraid I over BLING!
must have mascara, but noting that my eyebrows are lighter than my lip hair I have started to use peroxide on one and eyebrow pencil on the other LOL!
    Already looking forward to tomorrow!...rhea

    ReplyDelete
  97. Wow, I just found your blog. You do great work! The pink & green cards are so springy.
lol, no matter what, I can't do without that mascara!

    ReplyDelete
  98. I enjoy my hairspray/spritz. I don't have much hair, but the scent and the body added to my thin hair make me feel elegant and beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  99. *And like real wealth, DON'T HOARD IT. Use it. Freely and without regret. You'll always be able to find more.*
This is probably the most important advice I've seen yet! :)

    ReplyDelete
  100. Your cards are always beautiful!!!
I can get along without my electric toothbrush.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I love the pink card! It makes me think of the pink cherry blossoms that should be bursting into bloom here any day now.

My favourite thing in my bathroom cupboard is my S Factor Plumping Spray - the only product I've ever found that really adds body to my fine hair.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who doesn't wear make-up!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Hand/body lotion tops it for me...I use Gold Bond Ultimate Healing for very dry hands and feet.
I have Green Galore - love it. Hardly ever use bling except pearls which I love. Have some so I'll get it out. Thanks for all your tips!

  103. No make-up here, occasionally tinted moisturizer. But what makes me happy is Bath & Bodyworks Jasmine Vanilla body lotion. I put it on my hands and I can enjoy it. When I use perfume, I can't smell it on myself. When I use that lotion, I can.

  104. Your cards are always so lovely. I love the clean designs.

I'm not one for primping so don't use make-up or perfume. I do love my boars hair brush though. Keeps my hair soft and shiny (even though it is gray now) :P

  105. I love my Lucky body spray. It's pink - so girly, girly! Reminds me of Vegas and shopping. It's bling in a bottle for me - perks me right up and puts a smile on my face.

Can't have too much bling - although I'd like you to remove me from the drawing and award someone who "needs" it.

Thanks for all your work...love your blog.

  106. You have just inspired me to use up my oldest (we're talking ancient) paper stash of plain jane papers! Thank you, thank you.
As for makeup - I almost never wear it and when I do I've reduced myself to nothing more than lotion and mascara. But I do have this small jar of Brazillian Nut Butter from Stevens Research that is the most heavenly smelling, best lubricating lotion you have ever heard of...

  107. I love rhinestones as they can bring so much to a project.

I love using Benefit's That Gal face primer. It must makes me feel pretty without having to do too much.

  108. Very pretty pink card. My little thing in the morning would have to be my Bonnie Belle lip lites lip gloss. Unfortunately they're getting very hard to find. I have one in my jacket pocket, one in my purse, one in my scrap room, one beside my bed and one in my makeup basket in the bathroom. Love the smell, taste and feel of these lip glosses. And they leave a hint of color too! Makes me very happy! My favorite is sugar but haven't been able to find it anymore. Next fave is cappuccino.

  109. I love these monochromatic cards and find myself reaching for a simple look when making cards these days. I love your color combos.

my simple beauty item that I cannot do without is a pedicure. OK maybe it;s not simple, but I wear flip flops nearly year round here in Florida and polished toes make mne happy!

  110. i love perfumes :) Esp the fruity ones like Nina Ricci apple thingie ..
And thanks a lot for the candy :)

  111. Well this one is hard because I don't wear makeup or perfumes. So going down the makeup aisle is not something I do. However, I just love Aveeno lotions. I always feel so luxurious while working them into my dry hands and arms.

Love, Love, LOVE the bling! I wish I had your talent at finding just the right place to attach those pretty little flashers.

  112. Love the cards and thanks for the reminder to use the bling and not to hoard it!

The little thing that I like to use to feel extra special is bare minerals Pure Radiance: http://www.bareescentuals.com/bareMinerals-Pure-Radiance/51846,default,pd.html?start=4&cgid=BE_FACE

I can't leave home without using it since it gives a faint hint of shimmer to my face which I think makes my skin look younger and more luminous ;-)

  113. I was going to say a little rhinestone glued on my nose to make people think I got a piercing!! No, really, just a bit of lip gloss for me!

    ReplyDelete
  114. I love bling. Have trouble making a card without it. Thanks for the chance to win some.
I don't wear much makeup anymore, but I do always spritz a little perfume before leaving the house. Favorite right now is "Green Tea" by Elizabeth Arden.

  115. I don't use or purchase much from those aisles, but I swear by my Oil of Olay moisturizer.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Like Sarah I don't purchase much from down those aisles but the little thing that makes me most happy is a peaceful shower, the kind where you lock the door so you know there will be no interruptions!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Not all bling is created equal! Loved your hints and the 'blinged' cards.

I don't wear much make-up, but wouldn't do without my eyelash curler.

  118. I just don't use bling enough. I HAVE enough of it, but it sits there looking pretty. NOW I need to make my cards look pretty too. Thanks for all of your inspiration.

  119. Really enjoy your cards, lovely colors. My favorite thing to use daily is moisturizer. Thanks for the chance to win.

  120. Beautiful cards! I too plan to try out your theory soon with my own cards. :)
I could never get around the taste and texture of lipstick (blech!) so my little essential is lip gloss in a shade that works for me. If Cover Girl ever discontinues it, I'll be lost. :D

    ReplyDelete
  121. I hope you don't get sick of this monochromatic color scheme because I LOVE IT! I also love the proportions. My little beauty aid is mascara. Not much, just enough to make my eyes look bright and not tired.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Would have to agree that rhinestones and pearls are little things that can put just the right finishing touch on cards. The beauty product that makes me happiest is the matt gum that I use on my fine (flat) hair each morning. It gives my hair just the body and lift that it needs to put the finishing touch on me!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Love your cards. Need to dig out some of my green galore and gable green c/s.
Can't live without my flat iron. Not really a little thing, but keeps my hair from looking like I stuck my finger in an electrical outlet.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Just lately I've begun using bling more often on my cards ... especially the pearls. Love the look!

As for my "beauty" routine .... just moisturizer and occasionaly some fragrance. So many people seem to be allergic to fragrance, that I don't wear it as much any more.

    ReplyDelete
  125. My little thing is mousse. Can't be without it since I have very fine hair.
    Love your cards.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Okay okay I will start using colored cardstock - you have won your case! :) Eye liner pencil~ can't live without it~~

  127. My little thing is my Neutrogena Healthy Defense daily moisturizer, SPF 30. I love it! :)

  128. Has to be lipstick. Nothing makes me feel girly like a great lipstick. I really like Shepora's glossy lipsticks and Bare Essentuals Rose Crepe lipstick. Love how you used the bling.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I like Burt's Bees chapstick--I carry it with me everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I love my purse size Moonlight Path lotion from Bath & Body! It makes me feel so nice and fresh everytime I take it out and rub it on my hands.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yes, I do miss Gable Green and Green Galore. I like lip gloss and mascara as my two little things. You got to pick two with rhinestones and pearls, so I picked two also. *wink* Thanks for the lovely and simple cards. Julie M.

  132. My favorite little thing is my magnifying make-up mirror!

    ReplyDelete
  133. LOVE the cards again!
Couldn't be without my Bonnie Bell lip gloss in many different shades for the occasion.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I was never a lover of that green, but your card was so lovely and now I wish I had some of that green. And I love the jewels. Definitely my go to bling, even more than stickles. One thing I might mention though is that the Swaroffski (I butchered that spelling) crystals are far superior to any others I've found. I use my Crystal Effects to attach them.

  135. My favorite beauty item right now is definitely my Bath & Body Works "Forever Sunshine" lotion and shower gel. It smells so good and makes me smile as I call my hubby Sunshine!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Beautiful cards, Susan!
My little thing that makes me feel pretty is my Shampoo and Conditioner. I try to not skimp on my Shampoo and Conditioner and spend a little extra for a better brand, like Nexxus. Even if nobody else can tell, it makes me feel better when I run my fingers through my hair!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Vaseline Intensive Rescue lotion is my daily necessity. Though I love living in a dry climate, I could live without a daily {or more} lathering of lotion. :)

Lovin' your little things posts. thx!

  138. I just bought myself a brush for eye shadow; it feels so good that I use eye shadow more than ever before!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Love the card, and the bling! (I recently discovered nail rhinestones - teeny tiny bling for your cards!) My favorite daily beauty item is my scented lotion from Bath and Body works. I have a few scents that are absolute favorites, and just smelling them makes me happy!

    ReplyDelete
  140. I love scented lotion. I don't wear perfume anymore (I worked with too many women who wore too much for too long), but I like to smell pretty.

I also like the tree card very much. I would never have thought to put the bling where the branches meet instead of at the ends. Very nice!

  141. Lovely cards. My favourite little thing is violet-scented handcream - makes me feel very special.

  142. I feel like I've been busted - I am a bling hoarder! I solemnly swear to do my best to give my bling a chance to shine.
I don't wear any make-up but the one thing I can't be without is my Carmex lip balm. I have one in every room of the house and in my bag plus a stash of extra in the bathroom cupboard. I've been known to turn my car around and go home if I have somehow managed to forget to take it with me!

    ReplyDelete
  143. pretty cards!

i love my lip glosses :)

    ReplyDelete
  144. I'd have to go with my mascara. I don't wear much make-up, but I always feel better with mascara on! I love how you've used the tree stamp, it looks so lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Love your CAS cards! They're very pretty.

This is a tough question because I don't wear make-up except for parties or special occasions. The one thing I reach for if I want to "pretty up" a little on a regular day is Burt's Bee Lip Shimmer in Raisin. Gives my lips some color while moisturizing.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I liked reading about your First Theory of Using Colored Cardstock. It makes a lot of sense to me and your cards prove it.

When I shower I love using Philosophy's Amazing Grace. It feels and smells so good.

    ReplyDelete
  147. What fun blingy things on your fab cards today! I loved this little discovery for make-up, but it's not actually in the make-up aisle. When a company discontinued a face moisturizer I loved, I was devastated. I tried so many things to try to replicate that perfect light moisture feeling to mix with concealer. One day, after putting Aveeno baby lotion on my little one, I hadn't wiped it all off from my hand before touching my face. That was the same feeling as my old discontinued moisturizer! Such a little thing, but it made me so very happy!

    ReplyDelete
  148. I am definitely a 'blingy' girl! I just got into pearls and they are making a nice addition to some of my cards.

Now.......I found my FAVORITE shampoo at WALMART!!! It is a "mint" shampoo and when you lather up, I swear it's like you are washing your hair with those mint Girl Scout cookies. Nothing could make me happier!!!

My fav cosmetic item is kohl. That is the only one I use and I feel it makes your face light up! :)
PS. I could never complete a card without BLING!! All of us need a little pepping up and nothing does it better than bling! :)

  152. I love my eyeliner! I really like bling on cards, too!

  153. When I try to get pretty, I must have BLING for my eyes! I dare not go out without using eyebrow pencil (I have no eyebrows!), eye liner, eye shadow, and mascara!

  155. My little favorite is foot cream from Bath and Body Works. It makes my feet feel so good and look pretty, especially with a fresh coat of nail polish. Winter here in MN means the toes are covered for a looooong time, though.

  156. Oh both cards here are just exquisite! That tree stamp is to die for and do those stones ever make it pop! Absolutely gorgeous! Your cardstock theory is such a great rule of thumb! Makes perfect sense! :)

When I want to feel pretty, I have to start with a bubble bath with mounds and mounds of floating bubbles! :) and yes, I do still make castles and creatures with them! They're just too enticing not to! :)

  157. Love that tree with the bling! So pretty

I quit wearing makeup 20 years ago but a quick spritz of body mist makes me feel pretty!

  158. Two things help me feel more put-together: my face primer and mascara. The primer makes my make-up go on so smoothly, and I cannot leave the house without mascara or my eyes disappear behind my coke-bottle glasses!

    ReplyDelete
  159. Beautiful cards...both of them. I might be a bit partial to the green though, coz its my favourite colour. I use makeup very sparingly and when I do I stick to lipstick- so that has to be my 'little thing'.

    ReplyDelete
  160. like the others,i can't choose my favorite card either.
I don't wear makeup but love my signature club moisturizer.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I love your pink card, Susan. Seems to fit with my favorite little thing. I like to wash my hands with rosewater and glycerin handsoap (crabtree and evelyn) just before leaving the house. It makes me feel so 'girly'. thanks for the fun contest!

  162. my "thing" is the perfume I bought on our honeymoon in Bermuda.
I wear it every day and it reminds me of that beautiful island.

  163. I love your blog and all your cards! I love mascara. Even if I don't wear any other makeup, I feel pretty with mascara.

  164. I'm really enjoying the different comments/beauty tips - and I have a quick tip to share: I figured out why I can't lose weight! The shampoo that runs down my body in the shower says "for extra volume and body" I am gonna start using Dawn dish soap. It says " dissolves fat that is otherwise difficult to remove." LOL
My "little thing" is eyeshadow - don't wear it often, but I love the "bling-y" look that it gives my eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Great cards, especially the green one! My "thing" is my Bed Head Maxxed Out hairspray. My hair is fine and thin and flattens out at the first hint of humidity, so this hairspray goes a long way toward preventing that.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Great use of bling!

My little cosmetic thing is a 4-sided manicure block which has two filing surfaces, a smoother and a buffer which makes your nails shine without polish. All for $5 at Sephora!

    ReplyDelete
  167. can't live without mascara!! and I recently discovered eye liner!!

  168. rhinestones, I use them on everything. I really use my eyebrow pencil every day. Mine are so thin and my skin is dark and so is my hair.
