Grateful for Friends

Tomorrow's post will start a week of Halloween cards (because I have five children to make Halloween cards for), and then I'm done with Halloween because, really. Just really. For those who, like me, would rather Halloween be like it was when we were kids (fun, not over-commercialized, with homemade costumes, yadda, yadda), I've got some fun ideas for quick and easy cards. If you don't do Halloween at all, you could just change the theme and use the ideas anyway.

While Halloween might be overdone (IMHO), gratitude cannot be overdone, so here's another Thanksgiving/Gratitude Collection card.

Burlap is big this year, if the magazines are any indication. It's a very cool way to add some fabulous texture to a card. I used 1/4" ScorTape to attach this, but it's still not terribly sturdy. Sewing is the only truly sturdy way to attach burlap to paper, and, alas, I don't sew unless someone holds a gun to my head...which would be a silly reason to hold a gun to someone's head, don't you think? This card will, therefore, be hand-delivered.

BTW, if you CASE this card, please use dark red floss in the button instead of a string from the burlap. I'm sure it would look even better that way.

I hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Supplies
stamps: Papertrey First Fruits
ink: SU cherry cobbler
paper: PTI vintage cream
accessories: punches, burlap, button, glue dots

  2. Hear hear! I think it's the commercialization that has killed my enthusiasm for most holidays, and I LOVE your Gratitude theme. :) I also kinda love that you expect people to CASE your cards, because you KNOW we want to. :) Thanks!

  5. Love the colors of your card! I make two Halloween cards - one for my grandson and one for a grand niece. I make tags for two other grand nieces and two young neighbor children. that's it for me :)

  6. Yes, I don't really need to start seeing Hallowe'en STUFF in early August. I did pick up a few stamps this year from the Michaels bins, as I too have a few kids' cards to make.
On to today's card... which is amazing! Love the touch of burlap and the rich autumn colours.

  9. I always have to use the glue gun with burlap. I like it because it doesn't stay sticky like tape does in the holes. Hope that makes sense to you - LOL. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this card - you are a CAS genius! Hugs, Audrie

  14. CASE = Copy and Share/Steal Everything. It's an acronym used when you copy someone else's work.

  23. I love this card!! I must go find my burlap! I bought it several months ago and then never used any of it. LOL!!

And while I totally agree that the commercialization of Halloween is way overdone and the fact that it pushes Thanksgiving out since they jump right to Christmas annoys me even more, I have to say that I do enjoy making Halloween cards. I don't have a ton of people that I send them to, but I usually try to make and send Halloween cards just for the fun of it even though I'll be sending Thanksgiving and then Christmas cards shortly thereafter. What can I say?? LOL!! I just like to make cards for every holiday, big or small.
