I never think of using my computer to make cards as I spend quite enough time on this thing as it is (writing, you know...not surfing Pinterest or anything wasteful of time like that!). When I craft, I like to channel my inner kindergartner...from way back when kindergartners didn't have iPhones and internet access in their bedrooms. In fact, before whats-his-face even invented the internet.
So my complaint about how annoying PTI's Simple Alphabet is to use sparked an idea in kind reader Mary Anne that never would have occurred to me in this lifetime. She suggested making the tag letters on Friday's card with a computer...which would be a very easy way to get lots of fonts and not have to mess with tiny little clear stamps. For those of you who appreciate just how stunningly creative our computers can make us, I share Mary Anne's idea with you. Run with it.
Also, several people have asked about the status of my craft room. I've decided to move everything to the nook in the main room of the basement, the one with the sliding glass door and wonderful natural light. I despise being in the bedroom as it's incredibly quiet and isolated from my family. The carpet pad under the nook is askew and needs to be fixed before I can effect the move, but hopefully, that will be finished this week. I'll get all this figured out eventually and will share pictures when it's all said and done.
And now for two cards I need to send this week. I love Harvest Berries and Beautiful Blessings, two wonderful sets from Papertrey. They really compliment each other so well! The cards are 4.25" square and I rounded the unstamped corners to create a greater sense of movement on the totally flat card. I think it works!
Thanks so much for reading Simplicity, for encouraging me, and and for making my little corner of the internet such a warm and wonderful place!
Supplies
stamps: PTI
ink: Memento
paper: PTI white

Wonderful and simple cards. They appear very balanced, to my untrained eye. That must mean something, right?
ReplyDeleteThese are stunning . . . I love EVERYTHING about them xxx
ReplyDeleteGood morning Susan, These cards are beautiful, I love the ginko stamp but in your hands it's magnificent and definitely on my must have list :0) My problem with using the computer for my cards is that the printer I have just won't accept card of any thickness. It's a source of discontent, not a large one but nonetheless it makes me a bit mad!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day and thank you for sharing, Gay xxx
Lovely cards. Harvest Berries - one of my fav.
ReplyDeleteNice cards! I never thought of stamping my Harvest Berries vine image in orange. How interesting. :)
ReplyDeletePerfect simplicity as usual Susan!
ReplyDeleteHey, Susan! Thank YOU! For encouraging ME and making your little corner of the Internet such a warm, wonderful and INSPIRING place!
ReplyDeleteIf it were not for your blog, it is highly unlikely that I would ever have "met" you and I can tell you that my creative self had grown more confident thanks to you!
Hugs, Sherry
Simply lovely!!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful. Rounding only some corners is genius, and is something that would not have occurred to me. I love learning from you!
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me how you can completely change my mind about certain stampsets - never wanted this one until today.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards. Rounding the unstamped colors is just right.
ReplyDeleteThese cards are stunning! They have given me motivation to dig through my boxes of stamps so I can make something in my new craft room.
ReplyDeleteI love the printer idea, unfortunately, my printer won't print on my base weight card stock. Guess it's time to get a new printer!!
Love the cards - I always find it a challenge to make sympathy cards. PS I am glad you moved (or are moving) your craft space to the sliding door nook. It was the place I thought best when you first mentioned making a decision. My craft space is the dining room table (in front of a sliding door) that joins up with the family living room. I like being with everyone, yet still able to craft. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI used to make cards on the computer for years (about ten) before I began making them "by hand". People loved the personalized computer cards too. But, now they are all totally spoiled and always except cards made "by hand". But, I do print out digis now and then to color. It is all fun. Lovely cards.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sympathy cards - a theme I always struggle with.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on your craft room. I envy you the natural light - my craft table is in front of a window which used to look over the roof of the small house next door (my craft room is on the second floor) but that house is being replaced with a much taller house and I will now stare at a wall and will lose a lot of my light. So I'm thinking of having a skylight installed over my craft table - a crazy expense just to make cards in natural light!!!
I can't afford sentiment stamps so I usually computer generate whatever I want.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your original post for this card my first thought was either computer generated letters or I could breakout my JustRite alphabet stamps!
These are beautiful - Such a gorgeous flow to them! M x
ReplyDeleteIt's we (us?) who thank you! Your work and words are always inspirational. I love today's cards and yesterday's (cough) Christmas card was pure bliss! Guess I'm not a computer geek 'cause I don't see how you'd run those little tags through the printer. If you stamped first, then punched, how does that help? It'll come to me. I'm slow. Also, it's great that you realize, even if it was the hard way, where you want to craft. If you'd gone to where the family is first, perhaps you'd have wondered if you should have gone where it is more quiet. Now you know! How lucky is that?! All the best.
ReplyDeleteI personally feel it is cheating to use computer fonts. I don't know why as I'll use rub-ons and pre-printed die cuts with no problem. Great cards with great flow! And THANK YOU for making your little corner of the internet such a fun place to visit.
ReplyDeleteDo love these cards. I bought the ginkgo set after I saw you use it last year. And I do use computer fonts, as they add such diversity-dislike stamping fonts-they never come out right!
ReplyDeleteIf I worked only in my craft room, I'd never see my family-i so understand where you are coming from!
Hope today's wind blows it's way out before it gets to you-I feel like Dorothy today!
What perfect timing! I had just popped in to read your blog, and the phone rang - someone calling with a prayer request. I sent a quick e-mail, but will send a card too - and your cards today are perfect!
ReplyDeletelove these cards, susan.
ReplyDeletegreat combination of stamp sets.
you always do it best!!
