Dude Birthday Card Inspiration

I saw this in 1,000 Bags, Tags, and Labels.

It made me think: "Great idea for a dude birthday card."

Not many things make me think that, so I jumped on it immediately. My card uses Faux Ribbon (Papertrey) and the biggest birthday sentiment I own (also Papertrey, but can't remember the set). I used post-its to mask off the ribbon stamps as I inked them to get varying lengths.

What do you have that you could use to make something similar?

  1. That looks great! I don't have a lot of large sentiment cards, but I guess it would work with this SU set that has large script.
    Thanks for such great ideas:)

  2. Oh, this is brilliant, and I love it. I'm going to make one with Distressed Stripes and one of the Think Big Birthday sentiments. OR...I just got Belinda's Borders from Lawn Fawn, and there are a couple of images that would also work. What a fun idea.

  6. This is outstanding! What a great case! You did a fabulous job, and it's just a great birthday card. Any dude would like it. I love the ribbons -- how clever you are! And the big splashy sentiment is perfect for this. Positively great job, Susan. I'll definitely be casing this; I think it's terrific. I can't think what I've got to be able to do this, but I'll find something!

  11. I like this very much. I don't have stamps that would accomplish this; but maybe I could use ribbon or strips of paper. Hmmmm

  14. Wonderful card! I've been seeing some larger sentiment stamps around lately and they have definitely been on my wish list. Here's yet another reason I "need" them!

  16. I just made the card inspired by your card. I ended up using Distressed Stripes by PTI. If you are interested in checking it you, you can look here: http://cards-by-the-sea.blogspot.com/2012/07/my-card-for-this-weeks-colourq-147-was.html You are really seeing amazing things from that 1000 Tags book. I got the book, and only saw ads and wrappers. Perhaps I should look again.
