Orange Choice

Here are two cards using the same background stamp from Hero Arts. Which do you like best?

Tough call for me. The balance on the top card is better, but its lack of white space makes me itchy. The bottom one at least looks like I made it.

Whichever you prefer, this is the easiest way to utilize large background stamps...and extremely fun!

Supplies
stamps: Hero Arts (Flower Burst Pattern background, Year Round Sentiments)
ink: Memento
paper: Papertrey
accessories: rick rack attached with ScorTape, ribbon, half pearls, corner rounder

  1. Both are great cards! And orange! LOL

I like the first card the best. I think I would like the second card better if it showed the top half of the stamp with the smaller flowers rather than the bottom half of the stamp with the larger flowers. The larger flowers look more cut off or confined in the smaller space. Does this make sense? ;-)

  2. I like both but the second is clearly more you!

  3. I like the first card better because it is more me:) I, unlike you, get nervous over too much white space. And yet I absolutely love your cards. I just can't make them!

  4. I like 2. But I would like 1 just as much if it had 1's ribbon instead of ricrak. That ribbon is super cute.

  5. Prefer 2 -- it does look like you.

  6. This is like asking which child I like better. If I hadn't seen them together, I'd have just said, "Lovely! So you (except for the orange)!" I have lots of trouble with white space, like most people, but drool over your cards that utilize that space as a design element. I'd have likely made one closer to #1, but #2 is easily identifiable as a YOU card. Can't we just love both of 'em? ;-)

  8. 2!! Think 1 is busier. Also prefer plain (& colour) of ribbon! BTW I really don't want to sound picky! They are both lovely. Lindsey x

  9. OH MY WORD! I LOVE THIS CARD! I always love your cards but this one is so striking and I am not even an orange person!

  10. I do prefer the top one because of the spacing and was wondering because it is not your usual style of lots of white space. What did you use to make the lines?

  11. Well, since you asked....I like the first one best but the second one is nice too. Funny how things change, but I am not a fan of ribbon now and I have a lot in my stash. I much prefer just using a strip of decorative paper or cardstock, but, I love the rick rack!

I don't comment often but like your blogs-this one and Questioning my Intelligence.

  12. I like card #1 better. I think in that card the stamp shines. In the second card the ribbon seems to take away from the stamp. Or it might be I just love this stamp and want to see more of it and less white. This orange is fantastic.

  13. #1 is my choice like rick tack and pearls and I get itchy over white space...that's why I love your cards...I am learning balance and how to stamp a single item and call it good

  14. I like the first card best - it definitely looks more balanced to my eye. While I like the second one, it looks a bit top-heavy.

  15. The second one is the one for me! Love the white space and explained ribbon x

  16. I like both cards BUT (a Goldilocks moment)looking at it hyper-critically 1 has not enough white space and 2 has too much. The middle way with equal amounts would be too dull so what's my conclusion? I have no idea.

  17. Both lovely, the second's my fave ... it's more you, with tons of white space which I love ... and I prefer the ribbon over the ricrac! Anita :)

  18. I prefer the first one. There's too much white space in the second one for me. I like the rick rack as well as the ribbon
