Today's card comparison has to do with placement. I made the following version of the card first.
Something bothered me about it. The pinecone seemed just a titch too close to the W of Wonderland. It felt crowded and cramped. Just a bit.
But it niggled at me.
So I stamped the same card again, giving just a little more space between image and sentiment.
Odd thing is, now I like them both. The first one no longer feels cramped to me, and the second one also seems fine.
How totally weird is that?
It was hard to get a picture that showed off the shimmer of this card. I filled in the blank areas of the pinecone with Sakura Stardust Clear pen, and highlighted the green needles with it as well. The effect is absolutely lovely in real life.
So what do you think? Does the difference in placement make any difference to you? Do you prefer the first or second card?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Supplies
stamps: Papertrey Peaceful Pinecones, unknown sentiment
ink: Memento
paper: Papertrey
accessories: Memento markers, Sakura Stardust clear pen
I think the 2nd one, but only slightly more than the first!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very elegant card either way. It's hard to see exactly from the angle of the photo, but it looks to me that the image on the first one is slightly lower on the first card, which I'd say works better. But I agree that the gap between the image and the sentiment in the 2nd card works better when it's that bit bigger.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure why but I like the first one better and the added sparkle is gorgeous x
ReplyDeleteFor a moment, I thought I liked the first and not the second, and then I decided that I like them both. I love the sparkles!
ReplyDeletePlacement can surely be important but I like both of these.
ReplyDeleteI don't have your discerning eye, Susan, so I liked the first one as soon as I saw it. I like the second also. And I love the sparkle.
ReplyDeleteLove both cards. But I do prefer the placement of the first card.
ReplyDeleteThe pine image is beautiful, especially with the sparkle you added, but I like the second one better. Maybe it has to do with the proportions of the triangle created by the pine and sentiment suiting the proportions of the card....
ReplyDeleteYou are so fun...ny - [Your OCD is showing LOL] -- I prefer the first one.
ReplyDeleteI liked the first card very much, scrolled down and found the second not so much to my liking. I think it has to do with how cozy the pine cone and the sentiment look on all that white space in the first photo.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one better as it does seem more compact. However, that is the reason you wanted to change it so everyone to their own taste. Interesting. I love your use of the glitter pen.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Vicki - on all counts! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI like them both. The pointed tip of the pine cone and the "v" of the W connect nicely either way.
ReplyDeleteI liked the first and then scrolled down to the second. That extra bit of space works for me. But both sparkly cards are great. TFS ;-)
ReplyDeleteSecond one!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!! I love them both! The extra space could be my preference if you really need me to choose - smiles. Hugs, Audrie
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I see what you mean about the top card. Don't know if I would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out, but yes, on close looking, I like the card behind curtain number 2.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one best.

I like the first one slightly better than the second one, although I have to admit I have vacillated between the two. I think having the image and sentiment a bit closer sort of "connects" the two items on the card front to each other.
