A Giveaway--Edited

Wow.

The past two-and-a-half weeks have been...interesting. I hope this post finds you well and coping. We are.

Well, no one has melted down or thrown things. So there's that.

On Tuesday, March 10, Sinclair Community College announced suspension of classes until March 23 so professors could move face-to-face classes online. I've basically been sitting at my computer ever since trying to convert my classes and learn how to teach via Zoom. The first week of online teaching has gone better than I thought it would. So yay. But I'm exhausted.

Today, I just had to take a break and spent about four hours at my craft desk. After making a bunch of pretty trash, I made this.

I'd like to send this bookmark to someone as a little pick-me-up during this tumultuous and stressful time. Just leave a comment telling us how you're coping with the crisis. I'll select a winner at random Monday  Tuesday night after 6:00 p.m. eastern. I will mail it anywhere...because the whole world is in this mess together. (Edited because I didn't post this to Facebook like I usually do!)

As for my coping, the fact we're all healthy so far helps a lot. Work keeps me too busy to watch the news (a very good thing!), and rare downtime is spent reading fluffy fiction for pure escape, watching movies in the evening with my family, calling friends to check in, and walking outside every chance I get. Ohio is operating under a stay-at-home order, and we argue over who gets to go do the shopping. I've also continued my Calm app meditation streak, which is at 142 days. Ohmmmmm.

So what about you? How are you coping?

Mercy, grace, peace, and lots of love,
Susan

  1. What a cute bookmarker. Thank You for this giveaway opportunity.
Me & hubby are coping by just taking it one day at a time and staying to home as much as possible not get overly stress. Being patient, calm, prayer, along with faith and the love in trusting our Lord that this crisis will be over soon.
You know, when there is a serious crisis like this; it brings people closer together; helping one another and caring for each other and I do think that is what the Lord is telling us all; Just help one another through the good times as well as the bad.

In the meantime been doing craft projects; working on homemade Christmas items, etc.

In the meantime; everyone stay safe & healthy and say a prayer that this crises will be over soon and keep the faith.
    God's Blessings to all.

  2. The bookmark is delightful and gives a sense of calm and peace. There are just two of us here and we are well so far. Hubby goes out if we must have something or one of our children drops it off. I am in the high risk group, so I stay in except for walks or rides in the car to enjoy the beautiful spring flowers we have here. Home time is spent trying to organize and clean my craft room that has exploded into the spare bedroom. Hubby works outside in the flower beds or watching TV if he can't get out. We watch our Sunday worship on FB so that is nice, even though it's only the pastor and choir director with maybe 2-3 other people singing. We also facetime our 3children/7 grandchildren which is new for us because they all live within 20 minutes of us and 5 minutes of each other! Blessed!

  3. How are we coping? OK, I guess. We've been working at my son's restaurant doing a deep clean while they're closed. But we should finish this week, and then we'll be home all the time. I AM NOT looking forward to that. I did make a To Do list, so I hope I can keep busy enough until life gets back to normal. It's hard to not stress about this, and I hope we can all wake up from this nightmare very soon. Take care, Susan!

  4. Hello Susan, Your bookmark is lovely. Is the sentiment from a stamp set or a standalone - it's so true. I'm a librarian in Illinois and we closed to the public on 3/14 and will be closed at least through 4/7. Admin (which includes me) have been doing some work at home and going in when needed to pay bills, sort down materials and such. Emails are being monitored and we were able to set up online card registration so residents without library cards, can get access to our online resources. It's just my hubby and me at home. We are healthy. I'm trying to adjust to cooking meals at home on a regular basis (terribly out of practice on that.) I've done some retail therapy purchasing cardmaking and quilting supplies. My craft room is almost habitable - hoping to finish things up with that today so I can start a new quilt and make some cards. I enjoy being home - but like most things being told you have to do it changes the enjoyment level. Mostly I am disliking being paranoid about getting exposed those few occasions I have been going out to get groceries. The hardest thing is not being able to see our grandkids - two of whom have CF - but I am thankful my son and daughter-in-law are being so diligent in keeping them safe and healthy. I appreciate your blog posts and wish you and your family continued good health.

    1. George and I are most sad about libraries closing. They are so critical to democracy! Thank you for doing what you can. And special prayers for your grandkids! That's scary with CF.

  5. Wonderful "happy" bookmark with a fabulous quote! My local women's club has an annual Authors' Faire where local published author's are invited to come and discuss their books, literary lives, or whatever. Has been a huge success and we always give out bookmarks. I thought the proverb on yours was particularly perfect for our event & will share it with the gal who's in charge...so thank you for that!

  6. I work at Target and we're considered essential as we have a pharmacy and groceries, so we're open. We're wiping down all the registers after each guest and wiping down the carts. When I'm not working, I'm pretty much staying at home.

  7. Glad you are all well. To be honest, I've been coping by eating too much. Horrible, I know. I am lucky to have a dog so am getting some exercise. He is fairly old and limps, so the 4 walks a day aren't far. My two daughters (one in CA) helped me set up messenger so we could talk and see each other. I miss them and the grand-teenagers so much. Thanks for the chance to get the bookmark from you. Reading is a great past time.

  8. I don’t work so my schedule hadn’t changed much. The thing that has been the worst of all is not bring able to visit my 94 year old mother. She is a resident of nursing home that is only 5 minutes from my house; however, they have had a “no visitors” policy since March 12. Mom has dementia and can’t hear very well. I telephone her every day but communicating over the phone is difficult. She is unable to comprehend why visits are not allowed. My faith in Almighty God has given me a calmness about all that is going on.

I have been trying to get snail mail out to friends. Something to brighten their day.

    Your bookmark is very pretty.

    1. I know the feeling Donna. My mother is in a care facility and missing visits too. I was supposed to fly up to visit for a week, but that had to be cancelled. Very difficult for them.

  9. Love the book mark ... brings calmness and serenity.
I'm in lock down in South Africa (home is Mauritius) while my husband has radiotherapy (3 weeks down, 4 to go. Please pray that neither of us get the virus, and that he can complete his treatment). I bought my watercolours so I would have something creative on hand. Going at it slowly. I was also given a 31 day devotional called "Courageous Creative" for my Birthday, and I'm doing the daily reading and challenges. My personal trainer has sent me a set of exercises to do at least 3 times a week.
Then there's the daily routines of food prep, eating, cleaning.
Despite this feeling surreal like we're in a suspended bubble, time does fly by.
    Joy and peace to you.

  10. I’ve mainly been focused on ways to keep my kindergartener entertained. We’ve been having fun doing crafts & creating with STEM projects. We finally got to take a walk today—it is beautiful outside! ☀️☀️☀️

  11. When our library closed I stumbled in my life journey, when my son-in-law said we would not be able to see our granddaughter (for our health sake, not for theirs) I tripped. When Mayo said they were suspending non-essential care I sat down on the curb with my hands in my face (which I now realize was not a good thing to do since this virus is spread through hand/face contact!) and have been there for almost 2 weeks...yesterday I decided it was time to get off the curb and back into the journey lane of living.
Thus here I am looking at your blog! A pick-me up of choice.
I enjoy your cards and learn from your explanations. Thank you.
Our state is in "stay-at-home" until April 10, I will not be surprised if it is extended.
