Today, I'm feeling AQUA. It's funny, but when I first started stamping about 8 years ago, I didn't really like aqua. Now, however, it's one of my favorites and an amazing color for clean-and-simple cards. Like this one:
Happy sigh. (The picture looks pink, but it is really white and aqua...the ink is versamagic.) This is my favorite card for the whole give-away. The rhinestone was clear and is colored with a Bic Mark-It. Love it! And how perfect with the Dot Spot set that came with my last PTI order. And satin ribbon.
Today's give-away is small but fabulous. I tried initially to work these aqua/turquoise/teal embellishments in with the blues and greens, but they simply didn't belong with either. Here, on Day 5 of Rainbow Mojo Give-Away, they belong all by themselves beautifully!

ReplyDeleteI have seen a full arch rainbow, fairly recently. I bought my new house (my first house!! all by myself!! so I am proud!!) this past June and one summer day we had a brief but heavy rain. My kitchen has three large windows and I was sitting at the table scrapping, of course, and looked outside to see a beautiful, not only full-arched, but DOUBLE rainbow! I had never seen a double rainbow...it was really interesting!

I have seen several full arch rainbows but the most memorable one happened when my kids were little. It had been raining and all of a sudden the sun came out that cast a strange glow on the ground. We looked out the window as it had really captured our attention and there it was in all it's glory....a full rainbow. To see the wonder and amazement in my kids eyes was just magical. A rainbow they had only, until now, read about and seen in their picture books. It was a special gift from God to enjoy the pure and innocent glory of the moment. A very special memory for me. Next I just had to try and convince my oldest son that we couldn't go and find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow right now....
I probably won't qualify for this one because I remember the rainbow - I just don't remember where it was. John and I were on a trip and it was breathtaking. Your card is stunning. I really love aqua.

ReplyDeleteI have a great rainbow story that I would love to share. My SIL passed away at the age of 26. I was devastated. She was closer to me than my own sister and I loved her immensely. So shortly after her funeral I asked her to show me a sign once in a while to let me know that she is still near me. It was a difficult time in my life. So much struggle, so many questions. I was living in south Florida at the time, and if you are familiar with SF, it rains every afternoon between 2 & 4 without fail. One day I was having an awful day and I prayed to her, asked her to let me know it would all be okay. A few minutes later after a rainfall, I look outside and there it was. This big, beautiful rainbow arching over the lake. It was huge and vibrant. I was just awe struck. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Ever since then, rainbows have been one of those special "signs" from her. As time has passed I haven't seen as many. But when I do, I know it's her stopping by to say hello.

Aqua is not one of those go to colors for me...Maybe it should be after seeing this card :) Sorry no big rainbow story from me. It is, however, a breathtaking moment whenever one is spotted...no matter how small. Like seeing it for the first time!

I have ALWAYS loved aqua & white, ever since I saw PTI's aqua mist and white, in a Baptism card using the Everyday Blessings stamp set. It just took my breath away, and aqua and white has remained my all-time favorite color pairing. Aqua mist was my first purchase from PTI, and I still love it. As for the rainbow, I've been lucky enough to have seen many. We live on the marsh in Charleston, and delight in the storms that form over the ocean in our "backyard." But no matter how many you see, a rainbow is always special, and one of Mother Nature's most beautiful accomplishments.

I saw a full rainbow a couple of times tho' I don't remember all the details. Hey, I was a kid and that was a long time ago! I did see a partial double rainbow from our backyard a couple of years ago - very pretty!

ReplyDeleteRainbow's; I normally see part rainbows, but nevertheless they are always a gentle reminder of God's amazing creative powers.
I live in Omaha, NE and years ago (don;t remember when exactly) I saw not only a full arch rainbow but another partial rainbow on top of it! It was SO beautiful and it took my breath away! What an awesome display of God's promise to us! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this card!! and I agree, Aqua is an amazing color!! I have seen a full -arch rainbow. Here in the flatter area of Alberta you see them quite often. My son was about 3 and we had a great discussion about where the gold might be and how we could drive to get it!!!

ReplyDeleteI just saw a full rainbow last summer - I was leaving a restaurant with my family.
I seen full rainbows several times. I've even seen full double rainbows! The most memorable one was over a lake in the mountains of Mexico when my family was taking a driving trip from the US to Belize.

ReplyDeleteWee were in the car, driving to the Eastern Shore (?) and we kept hitting heavy downpours then pockets of bright sunshine. After driving through one of the heavy downpours, there were 2 not just one amazing rainbows in the sky.
ReplyDeleteAqua was never a favorite, but I find I use it more and more and have become quite fond of it. It's the perfect accent color for so many colors. Your card is absolutely gorgeous!
I have been privileged to see at least 3 full rainbow arches: 2 over lakes, one in the boundary waters BWCAW of MN and a double over Ten Mile Lk near Walker MN, and one on the prairies of SW Minnesota while driving back and forth during my father's final illness. They are amazing reminders of God's faithfulness!
ReplyDeleteI too very rarely use aqua. I think it is a difficult color to use. I have never seen a full arch rainbow but have seen several double half rainbows. Wonder if that means there are two pots of gold.

Love aqua also...A few years ago I was walking out of a local store in the evening, right after a summer rainstorm. I looked in the sky right ahead of me and there was the most gorgeous rainbow, HUGE....and it looked like the "pot of gold" was right at the doorstep of our house 5 miles away! The really cool part was that both my husband and teen son called me on my cell phone to make sure I saw it...it was visible from all points around the city.

ReplyDeleteActually, I've seen a double full rainbow. My DH and I were heading for a wedding rehearsal and when we came out of the rain into the sun, there they were, two perfect rainbows. The couple that married the next day has been married 32 years now.
On vacation in Hawaii years ago we saw a giant double rainbow. It took my breath away.
ReplyDeleteLast month we were driving to the in-laws' (two hours with three kids and no DVD player) and saw a lovely rainbow near the big wind turbines (aka windmills). That was very very cool, too. Sadly, February in Wisconsin does not compare to anytime in Hawaii. :p
Aqua wouldn't be my first color choice but I agree about it being fresh, clean and crisp. I'm fortunate to have seen a few complete rainbows; the most recent being on rather long road trip from NJ to IL. I happened to look back at the building traffic on the opposite lanes and it caught my eye. Another one of nature's special moments!

ReplyDeleteI have seen lots of rainbows, beautiful ones over the lake at our cottage. But the one I remember most was when I was a kid visiting my grandmother in NC. The rainbow started in the valley and ended on the hill near my grandmother's house. My uncle convinced my cousin and me to chase it, saying there would be gold at the end. Never did find the gold, he owes me!
I like aqua and it looks pretty good with pink! I do think that aqua and white are a perfect color combination.

ReplyDeleteMy family and I saw a full arch rainbow from our yard, out over the corn fields, last summer, and it even had a faint double above it. Definately memorable for both us and the kids.
Hey, even the pink background isn't bad...white is more elegant of course. Just this last weekend we saw a full arch rainbow. And we've seen them and double rainbows many times. Still no pots of gold though. We live in AZ and the wide open spaces provide beautiful skies.
ReplyDeleteMy cousin/best friend had moved away to college. She was a year older than me in school, and I was so sad to see her go. I'd gone with her mom to drop her off. Driving home with my aunt, we saw a full rainbow and it was absolutely stunning. So beautiful!

While driving back into the city (Calgary) from the mountains (Banff), we saw a beautiful rainbow. It was one that we thought we were driving to the end, but it kept going. On of the cool parts was when we actually did go underneath it. For the first part of our drive, we saw it in the windshield. The second, in the back window!

ReplyDeleteI recall seeing a full rainbow on my last visit to Nova Scotia. That was several (!) years ago, but it still sticks in my mind as it was so memorable. I was visiting my dear grandad's grave when the rainbow popped up and I just knew it was Grandaddy saying hello.
That card is so soul-satisfying, and such a mystery why that's so, since the image is off the page again. I jut love how you make that happen without it looking as if you goofed.
ReplyDeleteI saw my first full-arch rainbow about two weeks ago and both ends were so close to our yard it was astounding. Of course I wanted to hurry up and get to the pots of gold (Of course gold is at BOTH ends).
I have seen a full arch rainbow - over the Great Sacandaga Lake looking north up to the Adirondacks - gorgeous! But I have to be honest - I feel lucky when I spot a double rainbow!

I was in the park down the street just after a rain. I couldn't stop staring and it didn't stay for long (and no, it wasn't just me needing a new prescription on my glasses)! LOVE these shades! I don't believe I've ever seen a full arch rainbow - we have too many trees and hills blocking our view where I live. Sure would love to see one, though.
ReplyDeleteOh, a couple of years ago at my sister's, we had a wonderful summer storm. It was short-lived and cooled the air. She and I walked outside and saw the most gorgeous rainbow which ended in her back yard. This was so appropriate, because my sister is one of the most wonderful treasures in my life.

ReplyDeleteI have seen quite a few full arch rainbows in my life, but my most memorable one happened when we were in Hawaii, shortly after my Mother passed away! I was missing her very much and as we drove around a curve there it was!! A fantastically gorgeous, full arch rainbow! We followed it for miles and it always seemed to stay just out of our reach.
I know with all my heart that it was sent for me from my Mother! We commented on that and I will never see another rainbow without thinking my Mother sent it for me to enjoy!

I'm loving your cards and love the rainbow question - my son just painted one at PreK and was soooo excited to bring it home. I've seen a few full arch ones - living in the wide open spaces of the desert, when we do get rain you can see brillant rainbows that just seem to blossom across the sky!
ReplyDeleteI have seen two full-arch rainbows that I can remember. The first one was in Belfast, Northern Ireland {I was in my teens at the time} and it was amazing! I remember taking as many pictures {35mm lol} as I could from as many angles as I could so that I could recreate it!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite rainbow memory is from 15 years ago, I was so upset it was raining a storm in my wedding day!!! I just wanted to cry, but just before the ceremony, who of course was to take care in an outside garden, the sky cleared and I got married to my best friend since I am 8, with the most beautiful rainbow right over us!!! I love rain, and rainbows now!!!

ReplyDeleteI have seen a full arc rainbow, but it was as a child on a vacation. We were in the interior of Britsh Columbia and had just experienced my first ever "sun shower" {where it rains and is still sunny} then out came this amazing rainbow, from the horizion and back again. It was one of the most magical times of my childhood. It is amazing how something so simple stays with you. Thank you for giving me a reason to pause and think about it.
I have seen several rainbows in my life, but the most memorable was like 5 years ago, I cut my finger really bad and ended up in the ER, just leaving the hospital, the first thing I saw was the rainbow, it brought tears to my eyes because I was in pain, but I knew that God was with me! I remember that day very clear.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure I've seen a few but can't say for sure. Being on the wet coast of Canada (in Vancouver), we tend to see a lot of rainbows. Often double ones, which are pretty cool! I love your card - such clean lines as always!

ReplyDeleteI see beautiful rainbows often here in Sammamish, Washington. They appear over the mountains and it certainly is a blessing every time. I think the most beautiful one I've ever seen was in the summer of 2004 at Yosemite National Park back when I lived in California - it went for MILES!

Beautiful card! I love aqua, too! And I've just seen a complete rainbow 5 days ago, through my living room window (and that is in Switzerland). I think it was the most beautiful ever because it was double. And also the most frustrating one because I couldn't get the whole thing on the picture!!! The house was to close and I just couldn't move it!

ReplyDeleteI have seen a few full arch rainbows, but the most memorable was from an 11th floor hotel room in Dallas, TX. We had just checked into our room, pulled back the curtains to check out the view and there was this full rainbow and the exciting thing was that it looked like the end of it was in the parking lot. We joked about going down to find the pot of gold. I love all of your cards and yours is one blog I read everyday.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite word is serendipity and when I think of it, I always think of rainbows. I love them and I love the surprise and happiness of them. I've seen many and I especially like double ones.

As I commented on day 1, my favorite color is teal, so this is a great day. Rainbows and aqua and teal - oh my!
I remember when I saw a full arched rainbow. I was leaving choir practice last summer when the sky opened up and started raining cats and dogs! While I was driving, the sun started shining and it was still raining! It was crazy! I pulled over and waited it out and I just happened to look to my left. There before my eyes was the biggest, brightest and fullest rainbow I've ever seen. It was beautiful! It was very bright againist the black clouds that just dumped it's furry on us.

I've never seen a full rainbow but loved the one I just saw on Pioneer Woman's website. I live in Oregon and it always seems like part of the rainbow is buried in clouds. Love the aqua goodies. Thanks for all your great ideas.

ReplyDeleteHow funny what lighting and photography do for a white cardbase sometimes. I looked at that pink and aqua card and thought that's quite a departure for you to use that much color with no white. It is a great design and I like how you stamped the image off the panel. What a great tip about the bic marker on the clear rhinestone.
ReplyDeleteI have seen at least two full rainbows that I remember. And I know because of I have photos of them (somewhere). One was over the falls at Artist's Point in Yellowstone National Park. The other was outside my back door after a big rainstorm in Torrington Wyoming. Hmmm.... never thought about that but both are in Wyoming. I guess they have the best rainbows there. I think the one in my backyard was the most memorable though because it was like it was made just for me.

ReplyDeleteMy sister and I were lucky enough to see not one, but two full arch rainbows while driving around Maui on vacation one year. You wouldn't believe how many cars stopped along side the road to have a look and most were taking pictures! Very beautiful and most memorable!
The most amazing rainbow I have ever seen was also a double rainbow! And it was right in my own front yard!

ReplyDeleteI read many of the posts today with great interest. Like many others, rainbows have very special meanings for me. Several days after my husband died a quick shower occurred in our area. Something made me glance out the window into the back yard. There was a huge rainbow which actually ended in our yard. It gave me such peace and comfort. I feel it was a sign from David to let me know he was ok. He was truly my pot of gold at the end of my rainbow for 38 years.
I don't think I have ever seen a full rainbow, but I have seen a lot. For some reason were out house is located we see a lot out our back window. They are always beautiful. Love the aqua. Thanks for the give aways.

ReplyDeleteI live and school in Antigua, an very small island in the Caribbeans. The first month of being here was the hardest. I missed home and all the loved ones. I was on my way home from school one afternoon being in my own head wondering if coming here was the right decision and there it was, a huge vibrant rainbow draping over a big hill and ended on top of the crystal blue water! It lifted up my day tremendously!
I have seen a lot down here in dunedin we get many, but my fav is on during the first week of first brought home. I view it as a sign this was the place to be.

ReplyDeleteSure have!!! I have seen many but remember this one as I was only a child and so amazed. It was in Austria, we saw the rainbow as we went to go into a tunnel and as we came out it was right in front and looked as if it was coming out of the mountain. I wanted to just go forward on the road, stop and find the very very end. I do remember dad saying it won't work but we drove and I followed it till it was gone.
