Sue Berker simply will not leave me alone. She's pestering me to use Orchid Opulence (or, as I like to call it, Fairy Vomit) on a card. She's even got a poll up on her blog regarding OO/FV. Please go vote your conscience on this one.
I'm going on record as saying that pretty much any color, even goose-poop green (see Brilliance pearlescent olive on this card), can be used effectively. Sue made an incredibly elegant card with OO/FV on this post, and I just received an adorable OO/FV card from Patti Moffett as well. (Thanks, Patti!) Neither of these cards, however, changes my mind.
Here's your card, Sue. Hope you like it because it's coming your way soon. And thanks for pestering me 'cause I sort of like it!

ReplyDeleteAlthough it's not one of my most used colors, I like OO/FV. I'm still undecided whether I like it enough to stock up on it before it retires though.
ReplyDeleteI think your card is prett with just a touch of this color as an accent to the blue and green.
Very pretty, despite the sprite that upchucked the butterflies. :P (It must be worse IRL, looks just fine here...)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I won't be sorry to see any of SU's purples go. Can't seem to use my PTI purples, either. Odd that I don't like purple in crafting, but my favorite flowers are violets and lilacs. Go figure.

Eeeeeeew! It's too close to pink for comfort. I see now why you resisted for so long. ONLY YOU could have turned it into such a lovely card, however.

Susan - I've been enjoying your blog for a couple of months now. I wish I had found it sooner! I have been a lurker and have never commented before but just had to join in THIS conversation.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I am a purple lover, but even I have had some trouble embracing OO/FV (what an apt name!). I don't care for it AT ALL in SU's Shades of Spring DSP from the Occassions Mini - just too darn bright for Spring. But I do love it paired with Cool Caribbean and Gable Green - to me it looks very beachy/tropical. You did a great job with it in your card above - just a touch of it really tones it down.
I am SO inspired by your CAS style and have even tried to pull off a couple of CAS cards of my own. But I absolutely LOVE your sense of humor and writing style. Thanks for being YOU and sharing you with US!

ReplyDeleteOkay Susan, to see the REAL color of Fairy Vomit you have to watch "Fairly Odd Parents" - those fairys are often vomiting!! It's a bit darker than OO ... close but not quite!! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job using OO. I actually like it and am trying to decide if I should get more CS. I'm a fan of purple in general. And I agree with Maureen on her color combo.
