I went to Barnes and Noble Friday (what a surprise...not). Anyway, while waiting for my dark cherry mocha, I saw this coffee cup. It called to me. It said, "Susan, you must buy me, take me home, and use me to make some cards."
Really. I tried desperately not to fall victim to its siren's song. You see, I've been ranting recently about how we have TOO MUCH STUFF in our house and need to get rid of stuff. We have lots of coffee cups. We don't need another. But this darn butterfly cup kept calling and calling and calling to me. It wouldn't shut up. For such a pretty thing, it sure is noisy.
The first card I made was dreadfully busy, just like the cup. And then, simplicity took over and I made this.
Be still, my heart! Amazing! I had to do it again, only experimenting a bit with different leaves.
This color combination is DA BOMB. I used Baby Blue VersaColor ink, Tea Leaves VersaMagic, and SU's rich razzleberry cardstock. The punch is Martha's large monarch double punch.
Martha doesn't know we're on a first-name basis.
But I do.
The sky isn't blue in my world. It's rich razzleberry.
Supplies
stamps: PTI Turning a New Leaf, Faux Ribbon
ink: Versacolor baby blue, Versamagic tea leaves
paper: SU rich razzleberry, PTI white
accessories: MS large double butterfly punch, glue pen
just wonderful....great colours together...thanks for my morning chuckle.....
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend...how's your antiques cleaning up??
Karen,
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking. The antiques cleaned up beautifully. Still not all in place in my house yet, though. Will post pictures next week once everything is all sorted out.
Ooh, I love it! Those colors really are beautiful. (And I know just what you mean about those objects clamoring for space in our already crowded homes ;)
ReplyDeleteooh lovely. how's the dark cherry mocha??
ReplyDeleteWowza! That razzleberry flutterby has the definite wow factor!
ReplyDeleteThank you for always making me smile in the morning, your posts are one of the first things I do (after I do everything to make me function, of course) Your card is simply beautiful, I really like the dimension and pop of color that you and your Martha provided.
ReplyDeleteHi, Susan! I just found your blog and I adore it already. I love reading your posts, your sense of humor, and most of all I love your creations. I love the simplicity and elegance of them. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful. We have too many mugs, too. I have my favorite couple I like to use. Lovely mug, too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful card! Love that mug too!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely.....
ReplyDeleteCette carte est absolument magnifique !
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart!! Did you know I had a thing for butterflies???? I hear that butterfly from here (California)...I love those colors you used and that butterfly is gorgeous in razzleberry!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! And I would have taken a clandestine photo of the coffee mug, to save space, of course.

ReplyDelete@Joan B...the dark cherry mocha was good but sweet. It's better as a frappaccino, but it was cold yesterday.
ReplyDelete@leslie...The mug definitely said, "Buy me."
That busy cup sure made an amazing CAS card once you calmed it down :o)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours!!!
Both of these cards are so pretty! I love the color combo, the images and design.
ReplyDeleteOoooh.....this is just perfect. It makes me say "ahhhhh".....but I am wondering what that cherry mocha drink tastes like. That's an interesting combo.
ReplyDeletePerfect! The mug is a bit busy, but you have captured it in a beautifully simple way. Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty cup. No wonder you had to have it. You really captured the feel of the images.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, I received my first ever order of PTI stamps the other day (all the way over here in Australia) and Turning a New Leaf was the first set I had to use...I hold you totally responsible for my new love of PTI and particularly this set.
ReplyDeleteI have lifted one of your cards already and I think this butterfly card will be next :)
Thanks as always for the CAS inspiration you share with us!!
LOVE that Rich Razzleberry!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Susan, the Faux Paper "stamps" must have had some thinking behind them, since the sentiments are readily available in regular stamps.
ReplyDeleteGoggling Faux Paper suggests the process would be fun, but not really easy. Do you like to do it?
Bahb,
ReplyDeleteIt's Faux RIBBON! I corrected the mistake in the supply list. Sorry about that!
I think many of us have invested enough in Martha that the first-name basis is more than justified, don't you? Both of these cards are lovely, and the colour combo rocks. But you didn't show us the first, "busy" one! ;)
ReplyDelete@Lindsey...it hurt my eyes. Definitely doesn't belong on a blog titled Simplicity, LOL!
ReplyDeleteThose are great colors! It's easy to see how you couldn't resist!
ReplyDeleteI will case these cards - oh yes I will (if it weren't 2am I would do it right now!). Just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOK, I make jokes about channeling you, but seriously.... I just received the MS double butterfly punch in an order this week, and I punched it in Razzleberry last night. This is spooky, (LOL) Is it CASing someone if you actually are channeling them?
ReplyDeletemamajulie, great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteThis is the bomb! Awesome colors... and you enabled me to run and get that punch!!
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel any better, I would have wanted that coffee mug too...and I don't even drink coffee! I'm also glad to see that butterfly of Martha's punch through SU! cardstock...have had my eye on that one! Beautiful cards...I always love your work.
ReplyDeleteTerri,
ReplyDeleteIt does punch through SU cardstock...but barely. I really had to lean on it, and just mangled paper the first few tries. It also went through PTI's white.
S
Great card Susan. I would never think to do blue leaves - but I will now. I must run off to Michaels and see if they have that punch in stock!!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is that you are an amazing talent and I think these are CAS perfection.
ReplyDeleteTFS
Be still my heart is right!! Not only is the card just fabulous, but I would snatch that coffee cup up in a heartbeat. Love drinking morning coffee from pretty mugs!(while perusing my favorite blogs)
ReplyDeleteThese are being added to my CASE file/inspiration file. I love what you did here! Awesome, awesome, awesome.
ReplyDeletewow, wow, wow, wow ... those colors are amazing!! I like both but the first leaves are a bit more wimsical looking - me likes it!!!
