That's what happened with this card. I smoodged (that's a technical term) the corner treatment and had to add a tiny bling. Then the bling looked all lonesome and made your eye go to the corner, not the focal point. So I added some randomish bling to the bottom border. Not a bad save!
I decided to add the corner treatment because the card looked unbalanced without something up in that corner. Post-its on the border stamp allowed me to ink just the dots I wanted, but somehow a smidge of ink got on part I didn't want to stamp, thus necessitating the bling.
I love the gray with orange. What's your favorite color to pair with gray? Inquiring minds want to know.
Supplies
stamps: Papertrey (Gracious Vases, Background Basics: Circles
ink: Memento
paper: Gina K deluxe
accessories: Copic markers, Smooch (carrot for the flower centers), post-its (to mask the border stamp to create the corner)
Great recovery! Love the touches of bling. I like grey and pink and grey and yellow together.
ReplyDeleteI like turquoise and gray. Vintage!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of turquoise, bright yellow and grey here.... or pink and grey... :)
ReplyDeleteSU's Purely Pomegranate is just gorgeous with gray.
ReplyDeleteGreat save on a "smoodged" card! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love pink and gray and even though I'm not a huge fan of yellow I do like it with gray. Both of these combos bring back memories of outfits my mom made for me when I was a kid and I still love those color combos.
Being a born and bred BUCKEYE; I must say Scarlet and Gray! However; for card making I do really like turquoise and gray. I also like a "neutrals" look when you pair gray with a deep chocolate or a sandy brown.
ReplyDeleteRose and grey, and lavender and grey.
ReplyDeleteI call that a 'design opportunity' - good save! I love gray with pretty much anything, but probably a really hot magent would be my favourite.
ReplyDeleteYellow & grey or pink & grey or blue & grey or .... It all depends on the grey. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I had one of those happy accidents yesterday - drew a line too long, and then it worked out better than what I originally intended. Love when that happens! I love pink and gray together.
ReplyDeleteGreat bling save on your card! I've done that myself. My favourite colour to pair with gray is pink.
ReplyDeleteTeal or Not Quite Navy and gray would have to be my favorite combo. Of course, teal is my favorite color right now and I might pair it with almost anything!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite with grey is cranberry or some shade of it, but after reading all the responses above, I'm going to try some new choices! But boy do I love your grey and orange! The whole card is happy. I love the "table" for the flowers, and the matching corner, too. Who can't love the bling? It's a great card, all the way around.
ReplyDeleteah...you are so clever with your idea of using a Post It Note for the corner stamping - turning any stamp into a 2 for 1! I do love gray with red and black, and pink and gray is lovely, too. Thanks for starting out my day with a big smile :-)
ReplyDeleteI love orange with purple and lime green. I am not making this up. I also like it with hot pink. Or rather, I like pink paired with orange since I'm not much of a pink person.
ReplyDeleteI think Gray with any other color looks great. I hear that pink and gray are "in" (whatever that means). Great save with the bling. There are no mistakes, only creative embellishment opportunities.
ReplyDeleteWhen in clothing, I love gray with yellow. In art I love it with black, red and deep brilliant pinks. Great save by the way.

ReplyDeleteI'm passionate about a deep golden yellow with gray - Crushed Curry, mmm! I wouldn't be able to wear that combo but gray and gold are dramatic and feed the soul.

i absolutely LOVE the little random bling in the bottom border.
i really like this PTI stamp set, but it is a tad too small for my liking. i think your fun border for the vase to sit on is the perfect touch.

A GREAT save, I'd say. No one would ever know there was a boo boo. It came out perfect, as far as I can see. Do you like it better than what you originally had in mind? As for what goes with grey...I can't think of any color that doesn't pair nicely with grey. The orange worked great here.
