White-on-white crispness |
Cream-on-cream warmth with a bit of texture |
Which do you like best? Why?
Supplies
stamps: Through the Trees (Papertrey)
ink: Hero Arts soft silver, red royal
paper: Papertrey white, unknown cream and textured/deckled
accessories: dimensionals
The top one. Torn paper conflicts with the clean and simple design and all that white in my mind.
ReplyDeleteI love the top one. All white says winter to me, it's a very peaceful card, and I love red birds on winter holiday cards. The torn paper is too much with the uneven edges on the tree tops. (I don't like stamping on textured paper, I can never get it to look right!)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the white on white! A couple of things about the second one make me like it less: I think cream on cream would be nicer than the white on cream) and I think you get a much better stamp impression on smooth cardstock.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely design - the red birds and sentiment are fabulous with the soft silver.
All white! Because it's white!

ReplyDeleteI have always been a white on white person and I love the white card!!!
DeleteI prefer the white color layering on the top one, but I do like the deckled edge of the second one....adds a rustic appeal!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the straight edge....never been a fan of the ripped edge.

I think I'd like the 2nd card best if the background card was white. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHow about a combination of the two? I would prefer to see both colors on each card closer to the same; maybe the cream colors are closer to a match in person. I like the deckle edge because it indicates that the snow's edge is indefinite. Both cards are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the first one with the crisp edge, however, if the second card was cream on cream I think it would elevate from lovely to fabulous :-)
ReplyDeleteThe top card, definitely. In the second card the paper colors neither match nor contrast well enough. In addition, I think the texture is a distraction. A more subtle texture, and papers that match; switch the tree ink color to chocolate and I think you'd have something interesting. Or not. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like the white on white but really like the second's textured cardstock and its torn edge. I feel like it implies a light snowfall and a snowy landscape.
ReplyDeleteLove the deckled edge...adds a lot of interest to the card! But I would prefer the card to be white on white., or at least not white on cream.
ReplyDeleteThe second one looks like it could be an expensive Papyrus card and the top one is simply dIvine....I'm pinning both for a future case! Thanks so much ^_^
ReplyDeleteFabulous times two. I love white on white/cream on cream cards. Clean lines on the first, love the torn edge on the second. Would love to see a third with torn edge and cream on cream.
ReplyDeleteI find the second one to be more elegant and that is more my style. I love texture and a little less crispness. They are both lovely, but it's a matter of preference.
ReplyDeleteI really like the first card the best. The second one looks "busy" to me and I am not fond of textured paper except for watercolor.
ReplyDeleteSusan, I love your card and I CAS'd it for LIM. It's there and on my blog as well. I didn't do it justice, since I needed a Christmas sentiment and was limited in my sentiment sizes, but I think I'll have another go-round with the card and do a more thorough hunt in my craft room. I must own a more appropriate sentiment. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI think the first card, white on white, is crisper both in color and in edges. Both are nice but the first is my preference.

The white on white gives me a feeling of calm, clear beauty. The cream on cream with the texture and deckled edge imparts to me static or tension, as in a snow/ice storm, which in turn gives a 'different' meaning to the sentiment, Thinking of you. (not sure what all that says about where my head is at right now! :)

I vote for the second card. First because it has been a long time since I have seen a torn edge. Second having said that the texture finishes the card, like giving it a hem.
ReplyDeleteI like the first card best. Beautiful. I don't like how the cream looks with the white on the second card. I love the texture; I just think the panel needs to match the base. I also think the second card would be wonderful if the deckle were all the way around the panel.
