If you're like me and have been slacking about holiday thank-you notes, here's a simple card that will mass-produce pretty easily.
Really, this card would fit almost any sentiment, from winter birthday to get well to thinking of you. What makes it work for me is the three bright pops of color against a gray winter landscape arranged in a visual triangle. I cut out and popped the banner sentiment, but you wouldn't have to do that.
I can never get rid of Through the Trees (Papertrey) because of these two birds, each facing the opposite direction. They are so much more useful than any other stamps in that set and I adore them. The trees are from Masculine Motifs (Papertrey), which has a lot of good stamps in it.
Question: how committed are you to using older stamp sets? Do you like to see me use them, or would you prefer more new stuff on Simplicity? Just curious.
Mercy, grace, peace, and love,
Susan

I use some old sets that to me are classic and will never get old. I enjoy it too when you use older stamps because it shows we don't always have to have new. I also like it when you use new items. I guess I just enjoy seeing everything you use.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter so much to me, if the stamps are old or new. Chances are I don't have the same sets either way. I get inspiration from your layouts and color combos.
old! classics! it's so nice to see stamps used after the grand release, & enjoyed more than just one time!
ReplyDeleteI like it all! I think we can always pull inspiration from the layout and your design tips no matter what images are chosen.
ReplyDeleteI tend to favor older stamps. I love the way the birds pop on these cards.
ReplyDeleteLove these 2 cards. And I enjoy seeing you use old stamps too. In this throw away world of ours, it’s good to see that something can still be used after the first season. I still use my old stamps.
ReplyDeleteLove these cards. Whatever you do always inspires me. I have older sets that I use. Especially older sentiments. Some go to for birthday cards.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of old sets SO I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one who still uses them. I do struggle with knowing when it's time to let a set go.
ReplyDeleteAnd as others have said, I am just as likely to not have the same sets as you even if they are new. For example, I can't get PTI stamps. Well, I could... but I'm in Canada & I prefer to buy from companies who sell to local craft stores.
I like to get the design & colour ideas from your posts.
Although inspiration can come from different aspects of a design, I do like it when crafters and DT members on company blogs are using older sets. Sometimes new releases inspire you to buy new stuff, but by the time the products finally arrive here in Greece, the company has already moved on to the next release. Besides, it's fun to go through your stash and see what you aleady have (which is usually more than you think).
ReplyDeleteLove your thank you cards. Since I've been a stamper for 20 plus yrs., I enjoy seeing older stamps being used. Thanks for sharing your talent. I usually shy away from white space, but your cards inspire me to take the leap!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the old stamp sets used. Stamps are mini works of art, and they are also an investment. I am guilty of being enticed each and every month with glorious new releases. I am getting better at asking myself what I have that is near-enough. (Pinterest is a great place to see old stamp sets used too. I was amazed to see how many pins there were this Christmas for StampinUp's Lovely as a Tree.)
ReplyDeleteYes, please use your older products! Your design ideas and explanations don't depend on just one stamp set. Love your bright birds today.
ReplyDeleteI like seeing old stuff used. I've always admired your ability to resist getting the newest XYZ and committing to using things you already have!
ReplyDeleteI also like seeing some of the older stamps used...sort of a blast from the past! And those old rubber stamps stamp SOOO beautifully too!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy seeing older sets used. It provides fresh inspiration. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I saw the blue one first and thought - how unique as we usually use red. And then I saw the red. Love them both! :-)
ReplyDeleteApril
Both old and newer stamps do it for me. What I love is how you explain how you do a technique or design. Thanks for all your inspiration, Susan.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I, for one, like red rubber and wood stamps best!
I love that you use older stamps and often mix them in with newer products. That's how most of us create. We don't get a fresh shipment of stamps to showcase every month from manufacturers.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful and simple. Wish I could find that tree stamp - do you have a link for it?
ReplyDeleteThey are no longer available, although you might pick up the set second-hand. It's Masculine Motifs from Papertrey Ink.
