Altenew has mastered the art of multi-layered floral stamps. Their Stunning Cosmos set is a case in point.
My first card today shows one of the cosmos blooms with a sentiment from the stamp set. The sentiments are LARGE and so are the flowers, so they take up a lot of real estate on a standard card. For CAS cardmakers like me, however, these large-scale sets don't leave enough white space.
So I made another card, using a sentiment from Hero Arts Thank You Messages, that allows for more white space.
Which do you prefer? Why?
(You already know my answer, but personal tastes and preferences vary widely among my readers, and I'd love to hear what you think!)
Mercy, grace, peace, and love,
Susan
Supplies
stamps: Altenew Stunning Cosmos, Hero Arts Thank You Messages
ink: Memento canteloup; Archival tiger lily, leaf green; Hero Arts soft granite
paper: Papertrey white
accessories: Hero Arts sequins, glue
Since I am one of your followers that love your work but do have a bit of a problem with too much white space....I prefer the first card. The 2nd example, minus the card base itself, would make a great note card. {imho} :)

I like both cards, but the second one makes me happy. The graceful arch of the flower across the panel, the easier-on-the-eyes sentiment color, the visual triangle of little sequins, and the broad outside border—essentially everything—are all appealing. I love the chunky serif font of the first card, but overall the design just doesn't seem quite so appealingly balanced as the second. I think part of that might be that the larger flower seems like it should either have a large border or no border at all? Analyzing the first card, I think I might like it better if it were a single layer—perhaps. If someone showed me the card as a single layer instead, I might eat my words. But in theory...!
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to see you use sequins, by the way.
I do like both cards but the second one is my favorite. I think I like it because of the way the flower lays on the paper, the small sequins, and the smaller words. Thank you I do love the stamp set.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like the large flower with the smaller sentiment. Oh, and how about the large sentiment as the focal point with the layers and sequins. Thanks for teaching us.
ReplyDeleteI like the flower of the first card, paired with the sentiment of the second card.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say the first one just because that flower is so pretty. I think the sentiment on the second is a much better size though.
ReplyDeletewow I have this set - this really works for me - love it
