Nothing cosmic here, but the colors pop so nicely on all that white, don't you think?
On another note, I've been
Plus, I've got an idea for a new papercrafting project that I'll share with you when I've worked out more details. I've been thinking about the happy fact of the military drawdown in the Middle East. That means the need for cards is decreasing, and as I don't like making cards that will just end up in boxes in my basement, I'm considering how to shift my papercrafting obsession in new areas, such as bookbinding and scrapbooking and gift-giving.
Don't panic! This blog will still be primarily cards. I send and give enough cards to keep the blog going. But some new stuff is gonna happen. I can feel it.
What things other than cardmaking do you do with paper? What would you be interested in seeing on this blog?
Supplies
stamps: PTI winterberry
paper: PTI white, SU garden green
ink: Memento
accessories: corner rounder, half-pearls, Memento marker
My paper crafting is limited to cardmaking. I do that because it's something that I use and send away as soon as I make it! LOL!I guess I should do a little scrapbooking as I have some pictures from the past in boxes. I made a couple of albums after special trips but that was before I got into paper crafting so they are not "scrapbooking" in the paper crafting sense. I don't really care to do other papercrafts. I don't like most "homemade" decor items. I have enough trouble keeping clutter to a minimum so I don't need to add craft projects to the mix. LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh how simply elegant and beautiful!! Love all the white space and the shape of your panel.
ReplyDeleteI like decorating small notebooks or matchbook style notepads to coordinate with my cards. I also make small (simple) mini books sometimes.
ReplyDeleteWell, duh! I love scrapbooking! I love making cards (instant gratification), but my heart is still in scrapbooking. I have the hope that one day my children and grandchildren, etc, will enjoy reading all the journaling that I've done, and looking at photos that are labeled as to "who" is in the photo.
ReplyDeleteAs for my cards, I've donated some to a local assisted living facility and they seemed to love getting them. A lot of people in assisted living facilities don't get out much but still enjoy sending cards to family and friends.
This card is simply gorgeous, Susan. Almost all my crafting is cardmaking. I'm not into scrapbooking. In fact, I've removed all of my old photos from albums that were taking up so much room and never got looked at, and put them into boxes in the attic. Occasionally we get a box out and pass the photos round and reminisce. All my current photos live on my iPhone/iPad where we can look at them any time.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see bookbinding posts. I took a class on Japanese bookbinding a few years ago and it was fantastic. I have never had an opportunity to make another book but would love to learn more. Actually, I do all types of papercrafting so I'd love to see anything you do since I love your style and would probably love anything you made.... Thanks for asking !!
ReplyDeleteLovely CAS card, Susan. I also scrapbook, but I'm really behind in that. Occasionally I make small gifts such as book marks. I sometimes make small boxes or decorate a gift bag with stamping and embellishments.
ReplyDeleteLovely card! I like the two rounded corners on the panel.
ReplyDeleteMy papercrafting started with scrapbooking, but I got bogged down trying to be too elaborate. When card-making came into my life, it seemed quicker, even if elaborate. Then along came Susan! And CAS! Perhaps you could inspire me to get back into scrapbooking in a more CAS style. That would be most appreciated.
Mostly I make cards, but I also make art (mixed media pieces or paintings) that I keep, sell, or give as gifts. I used to art journal quite a bit and occasionally return to that. Last year I made my husband a scrapbook for Christmas. A complete surprise for him. It traced the history of the garden koi pond and patio he designed and built himself.
ReplyDeleteIf you're so inclined, you might consider making/sending cards for a children's hospital. Children that have chronic illnesses spend so much time in the hospital...
As well as making cards, I make simple books (really love that) & do art journaling, which I find very freeing. Not sure you would like it as not exactly CAS! I started scrapbooking, but gave up very quickly as each layout took so long.
ReplyDeleteI love your card - it is beautiful & so simple.
i love this card. my paper crafting is limited to cards and i sometimes make a co-ordinating bookmark. the pti bookmark die fits in an A2 card & envelope. i also sometimes make a bookmark in a larger size and laminate it.
ReplyDeleteI do mostly cardmaking because I need the cards but I started in making mini books and doing paper sculpture. I also do origami, party favors and floral punch.I like to try any other paper crafts that come along. I would love to see what else you come up with in addition to your beautiful cards.
ReplyDeleteI make cards, ATCs and books. I'd like to see more bookbinding/bookmaking posts, but please don't stop the cards. ATCs would be nice too.
ReplyDeleteBesides cards, I make miniature houses for my grandchildren - Christmas, July 4th etc, plus their birthdays. I have just started a "new for me" paper craft - using a wreath form, I make the decorations for the wreath from paper. Time consuming, so perhaps this may be a one time wreath!
ReplyDeleteHi, Susan, your card is gorgeous. I like doing all sorts of paper crafts, and am determined to start art journaling. Easy way to create and still an inspiration for card-making. What do you think about that?
