While it's a fine card, the red, orange, and yellow are a tad ominous, aren't they? I was aiming for warm and happy and got Danger! Construction Cone! and Caution! Hmmm.
I decided to go with three different colors: blue, green, and yellow AND I blinged it up with glitter. The results are much friendlier, I think!
Unfortunately, the troops don't want glittery cards, so I need to make up a bunch without the glitter. I think I'll send this one to my nephew in May!
I hope your Monday is a cheerful blue-green-yellow sort of day and not an ominous red-orange-yellow sort of day.
PS Thanks so much for all the kind comments about Jack's progress. We really are so happy to see clear and unmistakable evidence that the hard work of the last 3.5 years is paying off.
I love them both, but I'm a sucker for glitter, so I'm leaning towards the second one. ;)

I too love them both. I saw the red, orange, and yellow one as warmer and assumed you were going to say the blue green and yellow one was more "cool". And the bling totally "makes" the rainbow...but we won't tell the troops that!! :-)

Loved your comments about the red/orange DANGER!, and pretty much agreed after I laughed. I love the second one! Peaceful, calm, and blingy --- what's not to like? How do you get the glitter to stay on? I just made a Valentine card for my grandson last night, using a glue pad to stamp the heart and put lots of glitter on it. I picked it up this morning.........and all the glue fell off! I know this wouldn't happen to you.....
ReplyDeleteYes, Sue, it DOES happen to me. Or it used to happen before I gave up on those stinkin' glue pads. They've NEVER worked for me, and it was so frustrating. Here, I used liquid glue, smoodging (that's a technical term, LOL!) it on the yellow first, adding yellow glitter, then doing the green, and then the blue. When I put the glitter on, I sort of gently smoosh it with my finger so it sticks in the glue. When all the stripes were finished, I set the piece aside to dry, then stuck it onto the card with dimensionals.

ReplyDeleteI too gave up on glue pads and am not happy about the wasted $. I've gone back to using Stamp 'n Bond, a heat-activated adhesive powder used exactly like embossing powder. It's perfect for gold leafing, flocking, glittering, mica powdering, and you don't wait for it to dry. Stamp with Versamark, sprinkle on the powder, heat with a glue gun, apply whatever you want to stick, press it down with your fingers or a piece of waxed paper. You're done! The only trick is to be sure you heat it a bit less than embossing powder.
ReplyDeleteI like the red, orange, yellow one also! I think it would look more fun and less "cautioning" if you put glitter on it too. Glitter just doesn't say, "Danger!" to me.
