Harvest Berries and Thanksgiving

My Papertrey order this month included the set Harvest Berries, which is fabulous...and fabulously easy to work with.

Here's the first installment of my celebration of Thanksgiving. Some of you may already know my irritation with the fact that Thanksgiving gets lost between the hyper-commercialism of Halloween and Christmas. That's why I send so many Thanksgiving cards...so people know how grateful I am to have them in my life.

So expect to see a lot of cards with this theme.

Supplies
stamps: Papertrey
ink: Memento
paper: SU bashful blue, black; PTI white
accessories: dimensionals

  1. I am so with you, Susan. Thanksgiving is one of my most favorite times of the year. I hate that the retailers just skip from Halloween to Christmas.

I didn't order this set butnow that I see your gorgeous card, I'm so wishing I had.

  3. I love Thanksgiving, too. I just love telling the people I love that I'm grateful for them! I love Thanksgiving's autumn colors, too, which make beautiful cards! Your card, however, doesn't use those traditional Thanksgiving colors...and it's a beautiful card! I love the soft gingko leaves in the background, too, and can't wait to see what else you do with them!

  4. Love your idea of giving thanks early! In Canada, it's on October 10th this year! You can join us celebrating Thanksgiving! Love the stamping and subtle colors of this card!

  6. I have this on my list of things I want from PTI. Fabulous card and am in love with that saying. Can you imagine how special someone would feel receiving that card? Wow.

  7. I love your enthusiasm for Thanksgiving. Living in Australia, it's not a holiday we celebrate but I think we all need to take time to be thankful.
    Gorgeous colours.

  8. This card is so elegant! I, also, considered ordering this stamp set...but didn't. Hmmm...wishing I had, now.
I agree with you about Thanksgiving. Halloween decorations and promotions are everywhere. But, Thanksgiving is barely mentioned. And, it's a holiday that has so much meaning to me.

  10. Oh good. I send out Thanksgiving cards too. I also have to come up with something for my card ministry group. We will make 40 thanksgiving cards for the shut ins at my BF's church. So, bring on the ideas!

  11. What a beautiful card! I love the colour scheme as it's such a refreshing change from the usual oranges and browns of autumn / Thanksgiving cards.

But there you go again using that gingko leaf stamp that I'm trying to forget exists as I don't want to break down and buy any more stamps this year!

  12. While I don't see the sentiment on this card as a Thanksgiving sentiment, I TOTALLY agree that Thanksgiving gets pushed out and I also send a lot of Thanksgiving cards. Every year it seems that there are fewer and fewer "real" Thanksgiving stamps out there... at least it's that way in my local stores where I prefer to do more of my shopping. And when I look online, I still don't really see Thanksgiving stamps that fit my style. I just can't see myself stamping a turkey that looks like it was drawn by a first grader on any card that I'm going to send. And no, I don't have a thing against first graders... I love them and was a first grade teacher for many years! I loved working with my students and I miss it greatly! I just don't make cards that look like a first grader did them! LOL!! Thanks for the chance to vent about the lack of good Thanksgiving stamps!!

  13. That is such a GREAT idea. I'm not a fan of Halloween, but do tend to concentrate on Christmas. Since I'm ahead on my Christmas cards this year, I'm going to make an effort to send Thanksgiving cards to all those I am grateful for in my life. Thanks for the inspiration!

  14. I love that sentiment! It is sad that Thanksgiving gets pushed to the side.

  15. What a sweet, sweet card! At least in Canada we sneak in Thanksgiving before Hallowe'en, so it doesn't get totally ignored. :D

  17. The delicate image behind the clever text stamp looks so good. I love this card and your commitment to send Thanksgiving cards. I have enjoyed adding Thanksgiving to our celebrations since arriving in Canada. Thanksgiving isn't an Australian holiday, probably on account of the convicts not being so thankful for being transported there!
