Kegbo (her name at SCS) kindly sent me some pieces of self-adhesive canvas, and I finally had a chance to play with this cool product that I didn't even know existed until she sent it.
Isn't she the sweetest?!?!
Some free advice...don't bother cutting out flowers stamped on the canvas and then adhering them so they directly overlap each other. It looks bad. Just sayin'.
I'm always more successful when I keep things simple (well, duh) and this card keeps it simple.
Crisp and clean, yet soft and weathered, with that wonderful canvas texture, and a touch of brown Stickles...JUST BECAUSE!
*giggle*
I look forward to making more cards with kegbo's gift. I'm determined to cut out shapes and layer them successfully, but I suspect that will require mounting the canvas on card stock first, and then using dimensionals. Sigh.
I'm getting tired just thinking about doing that.
No, I'm not lazy. Why do you ask?

Very pretty, Susan! I've never heard of self adhesive canvas. I love the look and think I'll probably be seeing more of it.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of adhesive canvas either. It sure seems like a cool product.
ReplyDeleteOh, beautiful card! I finally bought some sticky back canvas when I took a class from Jennifer McGuire. Love what you can do with it.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Much better than anything I've done with the stuff. You've inspired me to try, try again.

Forget trying to layer the adhesive canvas. It may work, but why do it? This is lovely as is. I may have to look for this new-to-me-too product.
ReplyDeleteCool!
ReplyDeleteHave a rest now! xxx
Very pretty. I'm sure we will all be seeing more sticky backed canvas now.
ReplyDeleteNice card! The texture of the canvas makes your pretty stamped image look like it's a mini painting. FYI - When I was trying to find a product to stiffen some of the fabric I had purchased so that I could stamp on it and die cut it, a gal at Michael's referred me to Beacon's Stiffen Stuff Spray. All I did was spray it on both sides and stick it in the micro to dry. (15 sec, then in 5 sec intervals until dried through) Easy peasy. Admittedly one fabric that I didn't want to wrinkle, got a little wrinkly. I briefly pressed it, between two sheets of computer printer paper, with a med-hot iron. A thrifty artist friend of mine sprays the back of her fabrics with $1 store laundry starch spray. She does a large piece, lets it air dry, then cuts what size she needs for her project. I haven't tried it but her projects are outstanding and have been published and in galleries (she is in the U.K.) Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I'm going to have to "pin" this one. I love stickles; a little glitter makes for a happy me.....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card - I love the texture. I noticed on your "Questioning my Intelligence" blog that you're thinking of moving your craft room - have you made a decision yet?
