In the meantime, thank you all for your comments and emails! Lots of good stuff.
Also, the current OLW is on Ardyth's blog and is really a fun one! Play the Game: make a card inspired by a game or some form of play. I really, really wish I had a stamp of a classic painting so I could do a card based on Masterpiece...my favorite board game ever. But alas, I hope I have time to play along with something....
Today's cards are a study in contrasts, and I'm curious to know which one you like better.
Card A: Stamping on colored card stock with white mats |
Card B: Stamping on white card stock with colored mats |
Which do you like better and why? Or are they the same in your estimation?
Inquiring minds, and all that....
Supplies
stamps: Papertrey Ink (Paper Trey)
ink: Memento black
paper: SU turquoise, green galore, cool Caribbean; Papertrey white
accessories: MS scallop circle punch, circle punch, dimensionals, clear dome sticker
I personally like the first better. I think it's because the colour puts the focus on the sentiment and it just seems like someone is saying it quickly and with energy.
ReplyDeleteI like the second one better because it is easier to read the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteCard B, I like the contrast there.
ReplyDeletePetra
Definitely card B, the colours are cleaner/fresher.
ReplyDeleteI like card 2 better because the words are crisp, fresh and easy to read.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Card A - the hellos look like shiny candies I want to eat.
ReplyDeleteIt's A for me! I think the colour draws the eye to the sentiment!
ReplyDeleteCard A. Looks more like something you would make also.
ReplyDeleteCard A. It seems to have more punch.
ReplyDeleteCard A....makes the sentiment feel more bright, happy, joyful, energetic....
ReplyDeleteCard a. Its bright, unexpected, and a more contemporary feel.
ReplyDeleteI like Card A, but somehow my eye is drawn to Card B. Trying to figure out why that is...
ReplyDeletei like the first one. the colors pop more, and it is cheerful.

I like card B , but not sure why.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one. Oh help, now I have to explain in English why I like that one better. Euh...I hope I can find the right words hihi. I prefer the white border. The contrast of the coloured border with the white card is too big on the second card for me. White, colour, white. On the first one the colour pops out in a better way because of the white border.
ReplyDeleteA Because I said so. :)
ReplyDeleteI like card A....it is more vibrant and they look like little jewels popping off the card! :)
ReplyDeleteI likee the first one...they seem more dramatic !!
ReplyDeleteI like Card B better - love how the sentiments just seem to pop off the card.
ReplyDeleteI like Card A - the shiny colour POPS off the page with a little subtle frill around the edge. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like A the best -- I like color against the white. Great cards BTW :)
ReplyDeletecard B...easier to read with older eyes

First one - the important thing is the message and the colours emphasize the message and the scalloped white circles are pretty embellishment. But hey, that's just me!
ReplyDeleteI'm going with A - it seems a little "polished" somehow :)
ReplyDeleteI like card A better--I just love the colored paper under the epoxy/acrylic. Plus it seems more "your" type of CAS card with the white mat. I am a huge fan and read your blog regularly via Feedly. Thanks for all the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI like card A...the strong pop of color is striking. The white sentiment surrounded by color feels diluted and not as fresh and striking.
ReplyDeleteI like them both. I think that B edges out A just a bit with more contrast between the sentiments and the base.
ReplyDeleteI prefer A. The white on white is striking and helps to draw the embellishments into the card. The card B embellishments look too pasted on and don't blend with the card as well.
ReplyDeleteA because the sentiment circles are bolder. I'd have expected to like B better, with contrasting trim to set off the circles, but the sentiments are the main event and they stand out more with A.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely card A:)
ReplyDeleteI like card "A". the white mats seem to make the word hello stand out.
ReplyDeleteI like them both. Card A seems more serious and elegant (even though the sentiment is the same), while Card B seems warmer and friendly, if that makes sense. ;-)
ReplyDeleteInitially, I liked card A better. The sentiment seemed to pop more. But the more I looked at them, card B crept up to card A.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, I don't know!
I prefer card B. The sentiment is easier to read and just pops more for me.
ReplyDeleteCard A certainly packs more of a punch which makes card B look a bit "wishy washy"!!!

I prefer card B. It's brighter and the contrast is not so stark. Card A seems glaring and cold to me, while B seems cheerful and warm.
ReplyDeleteI prefer card A.The white mats on white card base look more elegant and clean to me. But then again the card B is very fun!
ReplyDeletePrefer A ... Amazing but the colour pops more!
ReplyDeletewould be interesting to see the tally at the end of the day. I often vote for things and they don't make "top 3" so I wonder if my taste is way out???
I'm not sure I can express precisely why, but I do like card A better.
ReplyDeleteA! It has a slight air of the unexpected, so looks a little more polished.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely A ... the colours are poppier! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteIf I only saw A, I'd be pretty happy with that one. But in comparison I prefer B better. I think it's easier to read the message.
ReplyDeleteI like the second one better because the words are easier to read.
ReplyDeleteI like A best - the colors are so pretty 'cuz they show up nicely! I am partial to anything blue. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like card A better. The colors are bright and cheerful and love the shine! Card B, the sentiment seems to disappear.
ReplyDeleteI like B better. The Sentiments stand out more to me. They are still both beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCard A because I'm really liking white on white lately, and the sentiments pop.
ReplyDeleteCard B. the clear enamels jump right out at me and i like the greater contrast of the colors against the white.
ReplyDeleteCard A. The color and the sentiment pops more on A.
ReplyDeleteMasterpiece. I loved that game, too! Thanks for bringing back great memories.
Def card A. The contrast is more striking
ReplyDeleteA - it draws my eye immediately to the words!
