Today's cards are a total theft of wiggydl's (Donelda's) gorgeous CAS card. Aren't those leaves totally beautiful and shimmery? Not to mention cut out perfectly. And the blocks behind the leaves look so textury and perfect with the cut-outs!
I'm supremely lazy, so no shimmery cut-out-by-hand leaves for me. I pulled out my Hero Arts four-block grid and stamped it in the corner of a card. Then I cleaned the stamp, masked two of the blocks, and (using a stamp postitioner) added two more blocks to the grid. Then, I stamped the sentiment (needed some thank you cards), added the punched flowers and centers (decided to pop two flowers just for fun), and ta-da!
While making the first card, I noticed my Maya Road velvet flowers and thought, huh, celery and chocolate. So I made a second card and like it even better than the first. Those velvet flowers are so rich-looking, and the color combo is fresh and fun. The brad butts are behind the flowers, which are attached to the card using glue dots.
Donelda's basic design invites all sorts of play and variation...as good design does. This is a classic, and I'll come back to it again and again.

OOOhhhh I love these cards - thanks to you and Donelda for this lovely layout!!
ReplyDeleteI loved that card by Donelda! You did a beautiful job recreating it and adding your own touch!!! Love these too!
ReplyDeleteDonalda and I used to trade craft table scraps. She is a very inspiring lady.
ReplyDeleteI love your cards, and I think I like the second one a bit better too. The colors are good and the velvet flowers would add that little extra texture.
love the colours you have used
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I love her original card, too. The green and brown made me think of mint oreos and wish I was closer to a store! I like the possibilities here.
ReplyDeleteI have to mention (you'll think I'm a pain!) that I was shocked that there were only two flowers on the second card. Breaking the rule of 3??? Still, both are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOooh, both are lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove these--that little grid stamp reminds me of the Little Shapes SU had a long time ago....retired, of course....it was a great set!!!And I love the subtle colors you've used!
ReplyDeleteOh Susan, you are soooo sweet {she says blushing}!! I really love both cards that you created based on my card. It is amazing how you can take one layout and create various "editions" of it!! Your Maya Road flowers have inspired me to pull mine out and actually use them....they are in my hoarding drawer... maybe if I just set them on my desk.... :-) Thanks girl - great boost of one's cretaive self esteem!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat case! I like both versions. The first is autumnal and muted. The second is bold and fun.
ReplyDeleteThese are both amazingly beautiful! Do tell...brad butts?
ReplyDeleteJust toooooo lovely! Jo x
