One-Layer Wednesday: Hero Arts Three Designer Leaves

Yes, I'm starting a new feature on Simplicity called One-Layer Wednesday. Every Wednesday, I'll try to post a totally flat card that is nothing but one folded piece of cardstock and ink. Wouldn't it be fun if you played along and shared links in the comments? Just a thought.

This small set of three stamps (one not shown today) jumped right into my cart at Michael's last week.

I wonder how that happens?

Anyway, making a one-layer card with brand new stamps made me happy.

I hope it makes you happy, too.

Supplies
stamps: Hero Arts, SU (sentiment)
ink: VersaMagic sea breeze, lime, sahara sand
paper: PTI white
accessories: stamp positioner

It is late Wednesday night here but I might just play along and share tomorrow :)

Very pretty card. And, as usual, just amazing to me that so simple looks so good. Sometimes I look at those many-layered cards in the galleries, and think how great it is that there's another way to do it. Thank goodness for you!

ooooh, what a great idea!! I will totally try to play along on Wednesdays!! I love how I'm not the only one who seems to attract stamps when I walk around in carts!! Hehehe!! Those leaves are awesome!!

AAAhhh, very soothing and happy. What a great idea - OLW. I will try to do your challenge but I am so horrible at one layers. They make me nervous. I can never decide where things ought to be placed - especially the sentiment. Could you help us with that some time? And when you made this card, which tree did you do first?

Susan Raihala said...

@Donelda...yeah, we must have some sort of weird magnetic field that pulls stamps off shelves and into our immediate vicinity. Bit annoying, really. But what can you do?

@Susie...I started with the middle tree and worked out from there with a stamp positioner since these are wood-mounted stamps. And yes, I'll try to give tips on OLC design in future One-Layer Wednesday posts. Would have done it today but got lots to do! Real life gets in the way sometimes, doesn't it?

One Layer Wednesdays will be SUCH a treat. I would love seeing the cards of others too...... seems like this community might be the ONLY place where One-Layer cards are The Goal.

Okay, but for us greenhorns, you'll have to tell us just how to share our "creations" with you!

This might teach you a valuable lesson about asking people to share their stuff. ;)

I love making one layer cards. One of my all time favorite techniques is masking and layering. Here is a link to a card I made just a little while ago... enjoy, the Oz

What a lovely card! And a great idea to have One-Layer Wednesday -- already there's been a chance to see other great OLCs. If only my creativity train hadn't left the station when the PMS Express rolled in... :P

Fun idea to get readers to post their cards! I always love seeing everyone's ideas. Your post motivated me to get some pictures taken so I could post a few cards. http://sewscrapandstamp.blogspot.com/2010/04/one-layer-cards.html

I've had that same experience of things jumping into my cart, especially at Stamp Shows! (although at a show, they jump into my tote bag.) If I ever figure out how that happens, I'll let you know! Meanwhile, your Simplicity designs are wonderful, and this one is no exception.

LeAnne and kasia....two more beautiful card! Thanks for sharing!

OH Wow! now a one layer card I could do on Wednesday. I never get to create during the week work full time. Only 36 more days!!! But I think I can get a one layer card done.
Is it too late for this week? I am off today for an appointment.
I love the idea!
Susan if you haven't stopped by my blog I am having a celebration and I would love to have you stop by.

What a great idea to share OLC ideas. Even though they couldn't be simpler, they challenge me. I will have to give your ideas a try every Wednesday. Well... not actually on Wednesday since that's my busiest day at work... but sometime within the week!

I like your line up of leaves and how you alternated colors.
