This week's One-Layer Wednesday Challenge involves the ubiquitous RIBBON. Who doesn't love this fabulous embellishment? It comes in so many pretty colors, textures, widths, and patterns. Ribbon make me think of preppy ribbon belts, Jane Austen, and pointe shoes. And Christmas. (How was that for a smooth segue?)
Do you recognize the underlying layout here? Yep, it's from PaperCraft's Go-To Sketches Magazine, and it's my favorite. The original lacks the ribbon and has eight circles, but I like how the knot balances the sentiment.
So pull out your ribbon and play along with OLW4!
1. A one-layer card is defined as a single piece of cardstock folded in half.
2. Use ink and one piece of ribbon on your card. Preferably nothing else, but if you must, well, then you must. I understand.
3. Link to your card using the InLinkz button on Simplicity's sidebar.
Have fun!
Supplies
stamps: PTI Snowflake Serenade, Peaceful Poinsettia
ink: Memento
paper: PTI white
accessories: sheer ribbon
Simply balanced and beautiful, Susan. Can't wait to enter!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card! Wahoo! I can do this one! A ribbon - yippee!!! The sketches in that magazine are all wonderful - TFS for great work of art with us!
ReplyDeleteAnother card to love - and I must say, I love the way the sentiment overlaps the snowflake. Sometimes, it's the little things...
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely play along again - it was so much fun last week!
You've proven once again that Clean and Simple is also Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, love it....but did you mean Jane Austen? The Writer? As in Pride and Prejudice...Colin Firth etc....etc....dishy Colin.... Perhaps there is another Jane Austin I'm not aware of...I've maybe missed something here - no matter just wanted to say the card zings.....
ReplyDeleteYes, Joyce. I misspelled Austen. *hanging head in shame*
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Love the different colors of ink too. I'll have to consider what I am going to do with ribbon.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! I'm going to try and play with ya'll on this one.
ReplyDeleteYaaaayyyyy! I love ribbon. Love this card - I'm going to use your layout, too. But first of all I had to look up ubiquitous and segue. Learned something new today!
ReplyDeleteAfter I checked out wikipedia and learned a new word for the day I took another (real hard) look at your card and realized - I have those stamps!!! I can make this and hope that it looks as wonderful as yours.
ReplyDeleteThe card is simply beautiful -- especially love the way the sentiment overlaps the snowflake :o)
ReplyDeleteNo need for shame Susan...not at all...hey we all spell wrongly sometimes - did anyone ever go to write a familiar word and your mind goes blank and you have to go to the computer or the dictionary to find out the correct spelling? Senior moments abound with me.
ReplyDeleteLove this to bits ... what a gorgeous ribbon :)
ReplyDeleteTFS
Thank you for the challenge, your card is absolutely fabulous, so elegant. The ribbon is a wonderful finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteStunning Susan - I love this layout! Kate x
ReplyDeleteYou really rock this layout, Susan! The sentiment overlapping the snowflake, resisting the urge (well, it would have been for me) to have an equal number of light and dark snowflakes... happy sigh...
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful challenge. It took a couple of tries but once I figured it out, my card turned out great. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI've not done a lot with ribbon but admit to having a stash of it! Thanks for the inspiration Susan, love the shades of blue.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteI love this layout too...I like how you altered it to fit the ribbon & sentiment...the different blues are fabulous too...
ReplyDeleteLovely card! Thanks for all inspiration! I added mine.
ReplyDeletePerfection!
ReplyDeleteYAY! Got one finished! I really appreciate the challenge...I SOOOO struggle with keeping it to one layer! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove how the sentiment blends into the snowflake image....genius!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and great challenge! I've only just discovered your blog, but I'll be back!
