This and That

First, this.

I wish the "happy" were slightly to the right, but otherwise, I like it. Two shades of teal, a black rhinestone in the flower, asymmetry centered on the card...good CAS stuff. Feels like me.

Now for that.

This has been an incredibly stressful and weird few months. There's not much I can share on the interwebs, except that, to my knowledge, no one is dying (Praise God!), but it's stressful nonetheless. Have you ever had the melodramatic sensation that practically everyone in your world is in distress except you, and you need to be the grown-up who acts all mature and responsible and calm?

Yeah.

That.

I hate being a grown up.

Pretending to be a functioning adult is so exhausting. And impossible at times.:

The point behind my sharing this with you is that stamping is taking a back seat right now to other more pressing things. I'll get to my craft room when I can, but don't be concerned if posts are less frequent for the next few months. I'm fine. I'm just pretending to be a functioning adult.

Thanks for understanding.

Supplies
stamps: Papertrey
ink: various pigment and chalk inks
paper: Papertrey white
accessories: small black rhinestone

  1. I just told my husband that I am tired of being the adult and the one that fixes and decides everything. I am exhausted. Hope you find some time for YOU! We women aren't always good at that...

  2. We sold our house. We are trying to find a condo. I sympathize with your stress, anxiety and desire to not be a responsible adult. I hope you make it through the holidays with grace and care.

  5. As I read the Comments, I look to the right and see the links to hundreds of blog posts from you. And there is LateBlossom on Splitcoast Stampers. You take care of us all the time.

    Enough said.

  6. My heart & prayers are with you. Hope the stress levels get better. I've got no real solution on the adulting thing, tho. When it gets bad for me, I grab my coloring books & colored pencils & retreat from the real world for just a bit. I know that's not an option for everyone. I really hope you can find a bit of respite soon.

    1. LOL! I've started zentangling while watching television. Miss a lot of tv that way, but it's so much more of a healthy retreat than Big Bang Theory reruns!

  7. As I've said and thought at times, "somebody (but why me?) has to be the grownup in the room." Sending good wishes for your strength and sense of humor to support you.

    1. Yes. At least I'm not the only grown-up though, and that is a grand comfort. I truly don't feel alone, even if the humor sometimes deserts me! It's so hard to watch others suffering and be able to do so little.

  8. Nice card. I like the Happy right where it is. And I hope the next few months go better than you think they will! Hang in there!

  9. Oh, yes, I have been knitting chemo caps for others and just heard last night of someone who is having a body scan today to hopefully find no spread of her breast cancer....lost another friend in July.....and almost feel I don't deserve to hear this morning that my cholestrol count is excellent.....
As Lynda says He is in control, He will work out His plan for our lives and those around us and we must bow to that.

    1. Cancer sucks. Five of my friends are currently dealing with it. Like you said, my own health seems an undeserved gift.

  14. Having to be the adult all the time is stressful in itself. I have learned that being the adult also means knowing that you need to care for yourself. You are there. Take care and breathe deeply.

  16. Hey Susan,
This whole adult thing is hard; I guess we thought it might get easier the longer we practiced! Praying for you and your precious family.
