Colored Cardstock! And a Question

Okay, so it's just a little bit of a mat of colored cardstock, but still. I want full credit!

Today's card was inspired by THIS BUSINESS CARD on my Pure Inspiration Board on Pinterest. The interpretation, as with yesterday's card, is rather literal. I love that there's plenty of strong color, but also plenty of fresh white space, too, both on the card base and within the stamped panel as well.

The thin mat is only 1/16" but it gives a great frame of color. A wider mat would overwhelm the card, I think.

The colored cardstock is Papertrey's terracotta tile, which seems to be a perfect match for the Ancient Page henna ink (the darker red on the stamped panel). My henna ink pad is drying out after 13 years (so no complaints there!) but I can't find a replacement or a reinker for it anywhere. So here's the question:

Have you used the Papertrey terracotta tile ink? Is it a nice dye ink? Does it stamp well? Does it match the terracotta tile paper?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Supplies
stamps: Hero Arts Spring Hello by Lia, Papertrey Faux Ribbon (sentiment), Simon Says Envelope Sentiments
ink: Ancient Page henna; Hero Arts dark quartz, moss; Memento Luxe espresso truffle
paper: Papertrey white, terracotta tile
accessories: envelope

  1. awesome card!! I have not tried that color by PTI; however I have several of their colors and, while I love the colors of their cardstock, I find most of the ink colors "grayer" or darker. The aqua mist, for example, is gorgeous in paper and the ink pad I have is horrible. Ditto for spring rain. Go figure

  2. I think Terracotta Tile is a fabulous color--ink and cardstock. Are you still on Waterway in Ohio? I"ll send you a sample. If you've moved, email me your new addy.

    1. Thanks for the offer. Yes, I'm still on Waterway. I have the paper. If you could just stamp a bit of the ink for me, that would FAB! You're awesome!

  3. I do have terracotta tile ink, cardstock and some PTI patterned paper with that color. I stamp a small dot of the color next to the image of the patterned paper so I can see how well it matches. Terracotta tile matches *very* well. I still prefer pigment inks to dye inks but if you are not stamping an image with a large surface you should be fine.

  4. I do have more ink pads that I can count, but sorry no from PTI. I don't have any PTI stuff at all - it's not available in my little corner of the world. Which is a pity as I really like all the cards you made with PTI stamps... Seems that these are high quality photopolymer stamps. I was last year in Florida but didn't find any PTI stuff in the stores (Michaels, Jo Ann, etc.) either.

So sorry, no suggestions from me :-(

BTW - love your card! And usally I don't like red colours too much. The tiny little red border is just perfect!

    1. Sunny, PTI is only mail order, so you wouldn't find in stores. Some used stuff does pop up on EBay sometimes as well.

  5. Love your card, and the business card that inspired it!

I'm not very ink knowledgable. I was going to offer to send you a cube from my next PTI order, but I see someone above offered, and it might take me a bit to get to it.

  7. Sorry, no experience at all with PTI ink. The mat looks great. Congratulations on breaking out the colored cardstock!

  8. Love the mat! "Micro border" is what a crafting friend calls those thin borders. I love them but have the hardest time getting them nice.

    1. Cut the mat 1/8" wider and higher than the stamped panel. I use my craft knife and quilting ruler to get it right each time. That leaves a 1/16" mat all the way around. Glue with a liquid glue and you have wiggle-room to get it straight.
