Getting Cute and Busy

Sometimes, I need to make something with less white, more busy. But it's rare that the results of my busy experiments don't end up in the trash. Also, most of my efforts at make a "cute" card flop.

Today's card is the rare exception that's both busy and cute and still makes me smile.

This card was inspired by a business card on Pinterest that I can no longer locate. It was really cool, but I didn't have a "cute" set that had small enough images for a business-card size panel. I just blew up the stamped panel to fit the stamps.

Less white space, but all sorts of cute for a young girl's birthday card!

Supplies
stamps: Papertrey Springtime Doodles, Birthday Bash Sentiments
ink: StampinUp white craft ink, Hero Arts soft granite
paper: Papertrey white, StampinUp turqoise
accessories: white embossing powder, rhinestones

  3. Love, love, love this card!!! It is not busy, it is just perfect. The images are so delicate that a lot of white is showing through - in my opinion this is still a clean and simple card... sooo great!

Is it worth mentioning that my birthday is very soon to come? *LOL*

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. Well, I'd planned on sending this to a girl whose birthday is in November, but if you want it, please send me your snail mail address. It's yours!

  6. Love this card. Especially that pop of color and kind of wacky sentiment. It goes with the image.

  7. I like your venture into cute and busy! Especially with that touch of turquoise. Here's my question, though: how did you get such a nice crisp image for your sentiment? I have had a dickens of a time finding a white ink that will stamp densely enough to look good on a dark piece of card stock. And my embossing skills aren't always topnotch, either. You know your inks so well that you must have an answer for this. I'm counting on it!

    1. For white embossing, I use Stampin'Up's craft white ink and Ranger white embossing powder. The ink pad is nice and juicy, so the image gets good coverage, and I thump the excess EP off the card stock. If any sticks where it shouldn't, I use a small, clean, dry paintbrush to flick it off. Keeping card stock stored where it can't collect fumes or oils helps.

I have never found a white ink that stamps truly crisp and clean on colored card stock. Embossing is the only way I know of to get that desired effect. I have made softer cards and just used Brilliance moonlight white on colored card stock, but those cards rarely make it onto the blog. They just don't look like "me."

      Hope that helps.

  10. I love it. If it was given to me I would break out a box of colored pencils and color it in.
