CAS121 Folded Ribbon

So. It took a federal holiday to get me playing along with the Clean and Simple Challenge at SCS this week. I love this challenge, was even on its first design team over two years ago, yet I rarely have time on Mondays lately to play, and it just seems so after-the-fact to play later in the week. This week, I made the time. Go, me!

The challenge was to Fold and Scrunch Ribbon. Fold, yes. Scrunch? Homey don't scrunch. It looks untidy. Don't misunderstand. Scrunched is a look that works beautifully on cards made by people who are not a certain kind of retentive and obsessive compulsive. Check out this card by cookiebaker (Charlene) and this one by ReginaBD, and you'll see scrunching used to perfection by talented stampers who are clearly not mentally ill.

Homey, however, is mildly AR/OC. So homey don't scrunch.

Homey does fold, though. Oh, yes. Homey folds.

Homey also likes shimmer and pulled out her Smooch to liven up this monochromatic image from SU's Pocket Silhouettes. She popped the scallop oval on two layers of dimensionals, and the smooth oval on one.

That's a lot of popping and means this card will be hand-delivered or included in a package rather than simply mailed in an envelope. Because homey is AR/OC. Remember?

Check out the close-up. Homey's rockin' down to the rad shimmer.

Doesn't it annoy you when people refer to themselves in third person?

I would never do this.

Never.

Supplies
stamps: StampinUp Pocket Silhouettes
ink: Ancient Page calypso
paper: Mark's Finest 120lb white
accessories: SU oval punches, dimensionals, Smooch, Ribbon (Mark's Finest Papers)

  2. As much as this is about non-scrunched ribbon, I have to say I love the white-on-white of the ovals. :)

  14. You are too funny! Makes me think of that Seinfeld where Jimmy talked in the 3rd person. Elaine was attracted till he opened his mouth & said "Jimmy likes Elaine!" Lovely card today! I'd never have thought I'd say that for a card coming from a scrunched ribbon challenge. Good job Susan. Homey or horny, we love ya!

  15. Thanks for the laughs, Susan! "Homey don't scrunch." Very funny! And your card is AWESOME even if there's no scrunch involved. :)

  20. You go, girl! (er... homey!)
On occasion, I have managed to scrunch (much to my surprise) well.
On the other hand, this homey has no idea what to do with those teeny little stamps. You've inspired me again! :D

  21. Yes, homey folds very well. Beautiful card! I cracked up reading all of your references to yourself as "homey". A little story for you. There's a sweet mom at my daughter's school with whom I bonded instantly when we met a few years ago. We've called ourselves sisters ever since, much to the confusion of everyone around us. You see, she's as black as I am white, so we love to mess with people by making a big deal of our sisterhood. The kids at fifth grade camp last week were very puzzled by our insistence that we're not just sisters, but twins (we're only about ten days apart by birth, too). Finally, one of they boys said, "Oh, I get it. You mean sisters like homeys!" Exactly.

  22. You know, Lynne thinks retentiveness in a certain area is by far preferable to. . . laxness, shall we say? And Lynne loves the Smooch, the folds, the AR/OC symmetry. Lynne thinks this card rocks! OMG, Lynne can't stop with the third person, just shoot her now!
