Blingity, bling, bling, bling.
Oh how I love bling.
I know Mother Nature prefers blues and greens for her peacocks, but I think a happy pink and orange peacock would be quite cheerful and pretty, don't you?
So here's today's question: How do you feel about unnatural colors for animals on cards? For me, it "don't make me no nevermind," as my grandmother used to say. Translation: I don't really care. Artistic license on color usage rarely offends me, but I can see how some people might think differently.
Grandma also used to call bras "zizzers." She was a hoot. If she were alive, I'd send this card to her. She enjoyed bling, too.
Supplies
stamps: Hero Arts
ink: Memento Black
paper: PTI white
accessories: rhinestones, ribbon, Memento orange and pink markers
I think this card is fabulous! The color choice didn't strike me as odd at all.
ReplyDeleteThe only animal stamps I have are a dragon and some little bunny. So I hardly ever worry about it.
Petra
The colouring of birds etc does not worry me at all - I think this one is beautiful
ReplyDeleteSusan, if a stamp of an animal - or a bird - was a life-like drawing I would expect it to be coloured as nature intended. However, an adorable whimsical stamp - like this peacock - demands anything but "peacock blue". And, of course, bling galore!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with what Iris Eyes had to say. Besides, it's your peacock, and you can color it whatever color makes YOU happy!
ReplyDeleteThese are my colors. I love it Susan.
ReplyDeleteremember those fun muppets folks on sesame street? there was a cute little girl who was blue!!
ReplyDeletei LOVE color! and i LOVE your pink peacock! marty
Adorable - love the bright colors and cheery feel to it! Hugs-Audrie
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Iriseyes. If it is a real life image, it should be as nature intended, but an image like yours is fair game to do your own thing. Yours looks great and not at all out of place, with a lovely colour combination and lots of suitable bling for such a glamorous bird.
ReplyDeleteI think your color combo is Fab.... I don't mind color-rific license one iota... but I did happen across a turquoise squirrel once that I just didn't like
ReplyDeleteI'm with Iris and Maggie on this one.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have liked your grandmother. However, in my case, it would have been "zizzettes!"
My maternal grandmother would have loved this. She was so into color and bling. She dressed with a lot of color and her language was colorful too. I have such wonderful memories of her. My children are so blessed; they have grandparents too.
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when I would not have liked this but trying to loosen up big time.... Iris Eyes has said it all.
ReplyDeleteI can't really think of an instance when weird colors would bother me, and it surely wouldn't be on cards. I think anyone making a card has poetic license to make it any way, or any color, she wishes. Love your peacock, and the feet are too cute!
ReplyDeleteI think this card is striking. I am not picky about colors for animals on cards. I also happen to love pink and orange together. I think you should have creative license to do whatever you want when you are making a card, etc. I do see how some people would disagree, but it just doesn't bother me. Thanks for sharing another great card!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I love your peacock and bling. On a recent trip to the Florida Everglades, our guide pointed out that alligators are not green, as usually depicted in artwork. Whatever floats your boat!
ReplyDeleteHandmade cards are little pieces of art, so I think the 'artist' should have total creative control over their 'canvas'. Great card! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome colours, colouring and card! Bit of consensus here... if I have a very realistic animal stamp, I would probably colour it "realistically", but if someone else chose to colour the same image less realistically, that would be fine by me. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours . . . and I'm fully into Artistic License!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this, this is very beautiful, so charming is that peacock!
ReplyDeletegorgeous! what peacock would not be proud!
ReplyDeleteI am fairly traditional when it comes to colours as nature dictates but I love this peacock and the colours you chose.
ReplyDeleteZizzers...that is a hoot!
