Winter Thank You

We're freezing here in Ohio. The low tonight is supposed to be -8. It's -6 right now.

Brrrr.

And here's a question for you. Why does it feel colder in my house when the thermostat setting hasn't changed? My hubs keeps it at 64 degrees Fahrenheit all winter long, but right now my feet are much more frozen than usual and I want a hot beverage STAT.

All my Canadian friends are laughing at me right now, just like I laughed at my North Carolinian cousin who called to complain that their wind chill will be zero tonight.

Wimp.

Anyway, here's a card that can give you a chill in a good way.

Stay warm, my friends. Stay warm.

Supplies
stamps: Papertrey Ink Snowflake Serenade, Clear and Simple Stamps Thank You limited edition set

  1. We're in a deep freeze here, as well. This eight below stuff can go back where it came from! I'm sipping a hot drink as we 'speak', and is certainly feel you cold feet! Mine are wrapped up tight in a blanket, over my wool socks! Lol... Love this sweet card! Thanks for never failing to inspire me ;)

  3. The beautiful snowflake and the delicate sentiment are perfect together. Love the touch of sparkle, too. It's freezing here also. I just had a nice cup of green tea to warm up my bones. I have on two pair of socks and am wrapped in a blanket.

  4. Here we are in the deep cold freeze in the Eastern Canada....I will take Ohio weather any day (wink)!! My family and I were stuck in the Toronto airport yesterday (flying back from LA) for 3 hours AFTER landing... (NO fun)! LOVE your CAS approach with this snowflake image!

  5. Though I don't like it being super cold, I do love getting snow. Today Utah had neither. I was actually able to walk home from work. But I digress, your snowflake card is absolutely lovely and is a fabulous replacement since we can't get the real stuff! Stay warm!
    Hugs, Debbie!

  6. It has been extremely cold here as well, about -12 degrees now I heard. We live in an old drafty house and do our best to stay cozy. Your husband keeps the temp kind of low, don't you think? Mine is the opposite, he always wants it higher than I do.
Love snowflake cards! We got fresh snow over the weekend, looks very pretty, it's just too cold now to go out and enjoy it.

  7. We have you beat for cold! -17f this morning here in the middle of Michigans' Upper Peninsula, and schools all over the U.P are closed. We normally heat with wood, but with these temps and wind chill we have to run our furnace, too. So glad we have that option.
Love this card. That is such a pretty snowflake.

  8. Well when the walls get colder and the wind blows harder it is difficult for that thermostat to keep up! True! We even turn ours up but in the LR and Kitchen and my stamping room a temp gauge says its only 61 in those rooms and furnace keeps running. I wear lots of woolen clothing items. Love the blue snowflake.

  9. I love the card. the blue Stickles add that extra touch. I live in Alberta and our weather changes drastically. The other day it was -13F (-25 C) and within the next 24 hours it was 35F (2 C). Sometimes it is more drastic than that. A hot drink and wooly socks keep the toes warm.

  10. Blue and white is my favourite colour combination so for that reason and for the lovely snowflake placed so perfectly, I love your card. I think you're cold because your house is too cold - I keep mine at 69F in the winter and I have friends who say my house is too cold! At night I put it down to 65F which is great for sleeping. As for your feet, treat yourself to a pair of Lands End silk sock liners - wear them under a pair of other socks and your feet will be so warm and happy!

    1. I'll bet those sock liners would be lovely under my LLBean fleece socks!

  11. Great thank-you card, Susan, but I am concerned about you. Thermostat at 64 degrees? No wonder you're freezing! When I grew up in Northern MN, my Dad always said, "If you're cold, turn the heat up." I still live by that theory in the dampness of the Pacific Northwest.

    1. Turning the heat up only works when one is in charge of the thermostat. When one is married to a Finlander named George, one does not get to be in charge of the thermostat. One layers and spends winter with blue fingernails and freezing feet.

  12. It's the wind chill that gets me! Am a native MN person and am used to it being cold, but -40's to -50's wind chill with -20's air temps will get the best of us. I too love your card and even enjoy the snow. Walking (i.e. taking dog outside and back in after 5 min) is not so much fun. Warmer tomorrow and the weekend, though, yippee! Best wishes, Susan.

  14. oh my- New England has been cold- but I feel for you guys- way too cold! I love that I am in charge of the thermostat- I keep it at 72 degrees....and usually have a blanket on too! My father was a heat miser growing up so I vowed as an adult I would go without something else to pay for heat if I had to....no...not giving up stamping supplies....maybe something like cigarettes...oh- I don't smoke-- so that is something awesome to choose to go without! LOL GET and stay warm everyone!! oh- love this and every card you make!

  15. 64!!! SInce I'm not in the US, we don't "do" farenheit, but I do happen to know that a typical room temp of 22 celcius equates to 72 F. 64 sounds pretty cold. How do you craft when your fingers are frozen? (my hubby spends the majority of his time at home in the basement or out in the shop, which are cooler than 72, not sure if it would be as cool as 64?).
