Another Quick Notecard Set

My husband committed us to a black-tie dinner on New Year's Eve, and now I have to buy a formal dress to wear. The two formal dresses in my closet no longer fit because my husband prefers cooking high-fat, high-calorie food, which I must eat in large servings or he goes all Italian-grandmother on me. "What? You no like-a my cooking?!?! You don't looooove meeeeeee!!!"

It's all his fault I have to go to the mall today.

I do not like shopping for clothes. Stamps, yes. Clothes, no.

How can I best punish him for this injustice? Suggestions?

Oh? Maybe you don't care about my first-world problems and would rather see some one-layer notecards that would make a lovely--and very quick--gift for someone.

I don't blame you. Cards are much more interesting than clothes.

The following cards were made with Papertrey's Happy Trails set. I made two of each, for eight cards total, which fit nicely into Papertrey's clear card set boxes.

Off to the mall. Wish me luck. I'm going to need it.

  1. Best of luck at the mall then.

I had to go through this loop last year (and for the same reasons!!!) prior to a cruise - it was hell (the shopping ... NOT the cruise!!!)

Happy New Year to you and your family and readers/followers

  2. I've been procrastinating making some holiday thank you cards that I need to send out. Thanks for the reminder that I can go CAS. Love your cards.

I totally understand your feeling about dress shopping especially formal attire. We have a wedding to attend in March and I need to buy a dress. Yikes.

  3. Thanks for these ideas! When I started reading, I thought the card pictured first was for hubby to thank him for giving you an excuse for shopping. LOL

  4. This is probably too late for you this time, but my formal attire advice is to buy a black skirt and fancy or sparkly top instead of a dress. I have a long, floaty black skirt that I wear over and over--and it even has a stretchy waist, so it still fits as my weight goes up and down over the years. And then I can get a different top when I want. This route is much less expensive than buying a dress, and you can change up the look much more easily, instead of wearing the same dress over and over. You can often find a lace tee with sequins or glitter for not that much money. And you can wear the sparkly top with black pants or even jeans, for festive but less formal occasions.

  9. Lovely set of notecards, Susan!

Have fun shopping - I too hate shopping for clothes. It's one of the joys of my retirement - I no longer need fancier clothes for work and can spend the rest of my life in cords, jeans, sweaters, T-shirts, etc. (hopefully no-one will invite me to a formal event!!).
