Sucker for a Good Border Punch

Got a coupon? Get a border punch!

That's my motto.

Well, one of them. Along with "You can nevah, nevah, nevah have too many stamps." And "Too CAS? I don't know what you're talking about."

Today's card is one of my favorite color combinations: cool caribbean, sahara sand, and white. So peaceful. So beachy. So ahhhhhhhhh.

And the border punch makes the whole thing work.

Scalloped scallops. That Martha Stewart is brilliant. Well, whoever designs her punches is brilliant.

So, how many border punches do YOU have? Inquiring minds want to know.

  1. Beautiful card Susan! Those colors work so well together, and I too, have MANY border punches (not enough though...)!

  2. The card is so simple yet so elegant...lovely...amazing.... !

I have just one punch :( Because of no choice of punches available here in india... :(

  3. Gorgeous colour combo, they would make a great sympathy card too!

I only have 3 border punches but there are so many more I love...and I agree MS punches are brilliant.

  4. Oh I do love that color combo AND your satin ribbon.

I love the way you use border punches as "the main event". So often I see them as just more gee-gaw to clutter up a card, but they always have important significance when you use them.

My three VERY seldom get used, though they are beautiful.

  5. Such a fab card,My answer,not enough!!!!!

  6. Too beautiful Susan. I have far too many border punches, but they all differ slightly (?) so of course you have to have them.

  7. This is beautiful, I love your colour combinations, the sentiment is pretty neat as well:) x

  8. OOps, forgot to mention, I have more punches than any sane woman would need but that's the nature of crafting, you just gotta have it! My favourite right now are Martha Stewart border punches and I wish I could afford them all:) xx

  9. I have 5 border punches and wish that I had more!

  10. Oh, those colors together are indeed lovely. I have a good-sized handful of border punches. Armful, maybe. And I do the coupon thing, too!

  11. Well, I'll 'fess up!! 35 border punches and I really use them all. Probably need an intervention, but not yet!!!
The card is restful and serene.

  12. I love that card - just simply perfect!

And punches? I choose not to count them, so as to maintain plausible deniability. But I can think of at least 2 more that I NEED!

  13. Love the scallops and those soft colors!!

Never counted my border punches until you asked...and wasn't going to tell either, but since Patti admits to having 35....OK. My number is 33 (purchased w/coupons of course.) Is it time to seek professional help?

  14. I like the expanse of white with the touches of kraft and carribbean. Very refreshing.

Yes... I know what you mean about coupons and border punches. I haven't been craft shopping in a very long time but this past week I had to go to the big city so I printed some coupons off and headed to Michael's and AC Moore. I bought a border punch at each store. I think I have about 15 right now. But I'm trying not to keep track or I may get upset at how much money I've spent on them.

  15. First off, I'm a sucker for that color combo. I have 15 border punches, two border dies, and 9 decorative scissors (and yes, I still use them sometimes!). I see I'm a rookie compared to Patti and Susan G.

How many do YOU have? And how do you store them?

  16. Whew! I had to go count...really, I had to go see if I had the one you used in today's gorgeous card! And score! At first I thought, oh, not too many...surely not the 33 or 35 that Susan G and Patti admit to. I must say they multiply like rabbits...I have 29!, many of which I use often, and one broken one.

And, I laughed at your 'nevah, nevah, nevah' comment. Classic two and a half men show! Everytime my dh and I see the actress (can't remember her name) on Criminal Minds, we yell out, "nevah, nevah, nevah!"

  17. Beautiful card, Susan, just stunning in its simplicity. The color combo is so elegant, so peaceful. Love it! As to the number of border punch, the answer is "not enough." I do have about 5, but every time I see a different one used on one of your cards, I want it. "Good" for me, Michael's isn't just around the corner, and I have time to pull myself together. Now after reading the responses above mine, I REALLY need to get to Michael's and AC Moore with those coupons! Actually, I often forget about them.....until I see them so beautifully used by you.

  18. Carol, my nevahs were inspired by a speech by Winston Churchill. I clearly miss a lot by not watching television.

You, Susan G, and Patti are going to have a visitor to your craft spaces soon to play with your punches. I have eleven border punches and six deco scissors, all of which I use. The scissors are stored in a cute little pail and the punches are in a stackable plastic bin from Target under my desk.

Cheryl, I maintain plausible deniability regarding the number of stamps I own. Even I don't want to think about that number.

  19. i only own 4 or 5, but i do have this one and it's my favorite

your card is lovely, beautiful colors

  20. love your CAS card as always. The answer to your question is the same as several others who have commented - NOT ENOUGH - border punches. I just got a Michaels 40% off coupon though!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, I don't have very many because I change residences every months and packing my stamping supplies is a major chore so I try to limit what I get. No telling what all I'd buy if I stayed put ;>)

  24. I have too many, including this one, still NIP (new, in package). *hangs head in shame*

    LOVE this card.

  25. uuuuum, one ... does that make me weird???? LOL!! I just don't have the finances to purchase many of the very expensive border punches!! I just make do with my decorative scissors! But you are right about this card - so serene!! What a great combo. Makes me wish I had SS ink. Might have to consider that ... or I could save the money and buy the punch .... decisions, decisions!!

  26. I guess I rank right up there with Patti, Carol, and Susan G...I did not realize I had so many border punches...my count was 33..and that doesn't include the QK border dies that I have. This is probably not a good exercise. Now I KNOW I have spent too much! LOL!

BTW...that card is just yummy!! I definitely will be making a card like that!

  27. I believe this is the punch you used in a previous post--I loved it--and when I finally got to Michaels or HL (more than an hour away)to buy it, I ended up with one that makes dots, not the scalloped scallops. So I have one punch, one decorative scissors and the Creative Memories wave and swell cutting system so that would be 4 different edges I can make.

I've been using the 40% coupons for Nestabilities.

  28. What a great card.
    I have a measly 3 border punches, but I really only use 1. {ah, a friend gave me the 'ribbon weaving' border punch, so I have 4}

    ReplyDelete
  29. Susan, I don't have ANY border punches! Every time you show a card like this one, I think to myself "I need to go to Michaels and buy a border punch". Then I go there and can't decide which one to get! It is very sad:(

Beautiful card, I love that combination as well.

  30. I think it's 5 or 6 border punches plus around (ummmmm) 15 pair of scissors. In my defense my son uses the scissors so they do double duty - I can talk myself into making it sound good to own so many! Now if we talk total punches owned I'd plead the 5th - so many the hubby had to build a second wall holder and my room is 10 by 10!

  31. First off Susan, I love the way it looks like waves washing up on the beach on your card. I can almost hear the surf! I have 7 border punches if I count the circle one that I can do 1 out 6 tries! Needless to say, it stays on the shelf most of the time.

  32. Great minds think alike, whenever I have a coupon I first check out the Martha Stewart craft section and punches top my list. Have way more than one person needs. Love your color combination on the card. The satin ribbon really pulls it together

  33. Love your color combo so much! Perfect beach colors for Hawaii, where we're heading on Tuesday. Woohoo!!! I even found a SU! demo there that I stamp with, so I don't go into withdrawal.

I have 12 border punches, and don't show them enough love. Do you layer a sand strip or quarter sheet behind the white, or layer a white quarter sheet over the sand?

  34. Absolutely gorgeous, elegant and so CAS. Love the color combo and design.

  35. Well I have never took the time to count my border punches, but if I had to guess I would say 12 - 15 and I think because of your enabling I have just added lucky #13 or 16.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sheeesh...no, make that sush!! Because I don't even want to say how many border punches I own. Martha Stewart and EK Success (how can you pass up the coupons?) and then I've recently discovered Kreaxion 3-way or 4-way punches. I have most of my punches stored in plastic/IRIS containers but some are in shoe boxes(labeled of course)and then that helps me rationalize and I don't feel so guilty! Punches instead of shoes? any day!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow! I don't feel quite so bad about how many border punches I have now, but I know I have way too many. I haven't counted, but I have many of MS border punches, quite a few EK Success border punches, Spellbinders border dies and I think I have all of Fiskars fancy scissors. I usually use a coupon when I purchase any of these, but once in a while I forget the coupon, or see a border punch that I cannot live without until I can get a coupon.

I am in love with all of your cards and I know that I now have to get this border punch too.

  38. Fab card. I so love the CAS look. I only have 7 border punches, not a lot compared to some I know. I also have 20 pairs of decorative scissors in a rotating stand that I bought years ago from costco. I am ashamed to say I never use these now I have my border punches!
    Hugs, Vicky ~x~

i LOVE this card. the colors are soo soothing and the ribbon is perfect. i think i will be making a few myself.

    thanks for sharing.

  40. This card is pluperfect, so to speak. :P The colour combo is the best. I too am curious about how, precisely, you layered it. (Not on a coloured base, surely???)
As to border punches, I have three regular and one Christmas. I am frugal. :( My real punch wish right now is a ticket corner punch, but my nearest Michaels so far isn't cooperating.

  41. I have 8 MS border punches...aaah!

  42. Yes that is a lovely peacful card. When we were holidaying in the USA (I'm from Australia) I bought a Martha Stewart punch. It is lovely but I find it hard to punch through cardstock. It is easier to punch through paper. Do you find this happens to you with the Martha Stewart punchs?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't have any border punches but I do put my decorative scissors to use now and again. The punch you used today is lovely, as is the card.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mmm, I'm in CAS heaven here! *sigh*

  45. This is so elegant, Susan! I love your caribbean satin ribbon and your punched border!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. This card is simply beautiful with that border.
I myself have 6 MS border punches and hundreds of other brands punches. And these days, those punches are attracting my attention again to use them....
