Jolly Holly and Mistletoe and a Random Question

Today's card has an in-and-out thing going on. The outside of the card is extremely clean and simple, with not an image in sight...just sentiment.

This sentiment is from the Holly and Mistletoe set from Papertrey, which is dominated by two very large stamps...one of holly and the other mistletoe. Duh. Anyway, the big stamps are hard for me to work with, but I love the fonts of the sentiments.

For the inside of the card, I decorated the two lower corners with holly from Papertrey's Holly Jolly set, leaving plenty of space for a handwritten sentiment.

Here's today's random question: What are your favorite winter/holiday-themed images? Holly, mistletoe, nativity scenes, poinsettias, candy canes, snowflakes, snowmen, deer, palm trees, something else entirely? Inquiring minds, and all that jazz....

Supplies
stamps: Papertrey
ink: Memento Luxe, Impress Fresh Ink
paper: Papertrey white
accessories: gridded acrylic block because lining up the three stamps in that sentiment so precisely can't be done without it

  1. Being in Australia and Christmas is the middle of Summer I like to make bright coloured cards and recently got myself a Santa and his surf board. I have been lookinf for somthing like this for quite a while. When looking at Card themes overseas I must admit to loving the less fussy cards and like the non Christmas colours. Snowflakes always look brilliant to me as do cute little critters. Hows that for a bit of a mix!!

  4. I guess I'm pretty traditional. I prefer Santa, snowmen and Christmas tree images. I also like images of a nice cabin or home dressed up for the holidays.

  8. For me it's all about snowflakes, because here in the northern hemisphere, whatever festival we celebrate in mid-winter, snow is likely to be involved!

  10. I have quite a nice collection of Nativity Stamp sets so many of my Christmas cards are nativity and then those that are non-religious I stamp snowflakes with a snowman or 2, along; maybe with some trees on the cards. Also have done a few with angels on the cards as well.
For just certain people, I do some humorous cards as well.

  11. I love the nativity, but many stamps are too kitch for my liking. I have a couple of good three wise men stamps, I know they arrived about two years after our Lord's birth but nevertheless! I use sentiments, holly, foliage, snowy landscapes and cottage scenes and Christmas trees, I have a wonderful gospel one that I love! I stay clear of santas, elves, cuties, pressies etc.

  12. You are the queen of CAS cards - love how the front uses only a sentiment stamp, it sits there perfectly - such wonderful use of white space.

  13. Trees. Not so much with the "cute and sweet" icons.
Love your simple, clean cards Susan. I am learning so much from you.

  14. I love old fashioned santas and gingerbread men for decorating.
For stamping, I lean toward holly, pine cones and pine boughs. Probably because I can't color in the lines!
