Purple Marigolds and a New Level of OCD

Purple marigolds make sense in my world. Really, they do.

The set Marvelous Marigolds from A Muse has a large outline flower and a smaller block flower. LOVE the combination of the two. I used Memento inks, a touch of bling, and some rounded corners to create a simple card for a friend.

Several A Muse consultants recommend keeping the extra rubber in the DVD case so you will know if one of the stamps is missing. You can then replace the stamps in their original holes. Well, some of the stamps--like these flowers--don't have a clear orientation, which makes putting them back challenging. Registration dots added with a sharpie marker to the stamp and the extra rubber solve the problem nicely.

Here's my new stamp storage. I eliminated an entire six drawer unit (which now holds most of my punches). One of the deep drawers is empty, and the other two contain surplus paper.

This is a substantial reduction in the stash. It feels so liberating!

Several of you asked about my minimalist wardrobe. The original post on my other blog, from last fall, is HERE. I'll be posting an update on Questioning soon.

  3. Really pretty card, Susan. I love the flowers running off the edges, the bling, and only 2 of the 4 corners rounded. It's all about the details. I haven't ordered any Amuse since they went to catalogs, but I was surprised to read they suggest you keep the extra rubber. In case you lose a stamp? And would they sell you just the missing stamp out of a set? If not, I might not want to know if I lose one of them! Gosh your stamp storage looks so neat and orderly!

  5. Beautiful card!!

I went back and read about your closet purge. I don't think I'll ever "totally" accomplish that, but who knows. Clothes used to be extremely important to me... my mom was a very gifted seamstress so I grew up with great clothes and then as an adult I enjoyed making (and/or buying) and wearing fantastic clothes and shoes. But, lifestyle changes certainly have a way of changing things like that! I thought I'd be able to pare down my clothing collection due to a move across the country, but I packed up more than I should have and brought too much on that 1100 mile journey. Weight gain then came, but I still have all those clothes "waiting". This has been the "year of the diet" and it's going well most of the time. I keep telling myself that if I'm not back into those clothes by the end of the year then they are GONE. But... even though I've simplified my style by buying only necessities in my larger size, I don't know if I can ever bear to get rid of ALL of my beautiful things from my former life.

On a bright note, since I haven't bought many clothes in the last couple of years, I took up stamping and cardmaking! LOL!! Now I own too many stamps, punches, embossing folders and other goodies for my hobby! The good news is they will always "fit"! LOL!!

  6. First of all, I love the card with the solid flowers overlapping a bit with the outline flower! Love the colors too. Your tip on marking the stamps and extra rubber is ingenious! Why couldn't I think of that? I could have saved myself a lot of time and frustration! Your storage looks awesome. Isn't it nice to get things organized?

  7. This card is beautiful. So simple and easy; it would be a great one to copy in multiple colors. They would make a nice set of gift cards. I love your stamping organization. I have some new cabinets and storage in my craft room; but I have yet to figure out how to organize the stuff IN the cabinets. I keep thinking I'm going to stumble across a miraculous method; but so far there hasn't been any divine intervention.

  8. The card is gorgeous; the tip about registration marks for stamps is genius (so why didn't I think of it?), and I'm heading up to my clothes closet right now....

  10. I'm sure the recipient of your card won't think "what!!! marigolds aren't purple"! If you hadn't said they were marigolds, I'd have thought they were dahlias so the purple would be just fine!

Your beautiful tiers of drawers are inspiring - I WILL organize my craft room before the end of the year.

  11. Thanks for sharing the photo of your lovely, organized stamps. I find myself thinking over and over of the post where you shared a photo of your Halloween goodies. That was a nice, concise stash of stuff, right there ready to play, no fuss, no muss. Myself, I have piles of H'ween stamps, goodies, punches, papers, etc. All my play time is spent sorting through and deciding what to use. I am jealous of your easy to use stash. Not so jealous I am ready to purge my piles, but mayhaps I can part with a stamp or two to start.

  12. Your card is absolutely stunning, Susan. I have been on an organizing rampage. I just cleaned out three garbage bags full of clothes from my closet!!!! I have come to the point in my life where all of my STUFF that I thought was so important, I just want GONE! With three boys (one of which is a total hoarder), I am finding that I NEED organization and less of what I used to think I had to have. Your stamping organization makes me oh so envious. Haven't quite gotten to that part of my house yet! :)
