Y'all should know that I'm not an over-programmed mommy who doesn't know how to say no. I know how to say no, and I say it. Frequently. I once cracked up an entire PTO meeting with a creative--and very firm--no.
And yet yesterday, I still found myself needing a couple of clones. How do these things happen?
Our church secretary, Rebecca, came to my rescue, removing one of my commitments with no inconvenience to pretty much anyone (brilliant!). She is, even as church secretaries go, amazing, and that's saying something. Church secretaries have to be amazing. Can you even imagine having that job? I can't. I could definitely say no to that job.
I wanted to thank her for her brilliance and kindness and general amazingness, so I packaged up some gourmet caramels in bright yellow tissue and a sheer white drawstring bag, and made a quick tag.
We've had gloomy, gray, wet weather this week, and this sunshiny yellow reflects Rebecca's sunshiny helpfulness.
And I just have to share a funny Jack story. Jack has had to take standardized tests for the past week(don't even get me started on standardized testing....that is a
That's my champion.

Lol...we've been taking turns filling in for our church secretary who has been out after having surgery. I agree with you, I did a church secretary job for five years when the kids were younger. Sometimes I wonder why I quit, but my subbing days have reminded me! Anyhooooo.....I am sure that she loved this little ray of sunshine. You are always so thoughtful! And I can see that sweet Jack singing...too much fun!
ReplyDeleteLOVE. the package and tag are perfect together.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a simple yet incredibly meaningful way to thank someone! I love it.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at Jack - standardized testing is seriously NOT FUN around our house. Connor actually blames last year's assessments for the onset of his clinical depression. Not sure about that, but they aren't at all my favourite thing :)
Not my favorite, either, Jessi. This is the third round of the year for Jack, and no one can tell me that's good for anyone.
DeleteAnd as I hit enter, realized that I'd meant to say 'laugh at Jack's response". D'oh. *facepalm* Forgive me!
ReplyDeleteYour gift is sweet and thoughtful, Susan. The tag is darling. Your Jack story made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gift, Susan. I love that tag! I often find myself required to be in more than one place at once. Luckily I have a wonderful circle of friends and family who help me out! I love that Jack sang in his test. A wonderful response to what can be a stressful situation.
