Back to Business with Inspiration from Sue Berker

We still have two drawings to finish the Rainbow Mojo Give-Away (one coming up shortly!), but today we're getting back to business with a fun little card I've been dying to show you.

Sue Berker was inspired by my ribbon-wrapped strip cards here, and then she suggested that another possibility would be to wrap ribbon around punched shapes. Oh. My. Gosh. Brilliant! I had to try it.

Isn't this just the sweetest little card!?! Of course, flush with success bringing Sue's idea to pink and green perfection, I got cocky and tried to do a long three-square version in oranges and, well, let's just say it looked deeply weird. I'll spare your eyes.

You're welcome.

There's a lot of serendipity involved in these ribbon scrap cards. My feeling is that if you're really good at matching the scraps AND you have a nice selection of coordinating scraps, you can make beautiful art. If you've got a bunch of scraps, give it a try, because it's hugely fun and satisfying to use those little bits of fabulousness!

Supplies
stamps: PTI Mega Mixed Messages
cardstock: PTI white
ink: close to cocoa
accessories: square punch, ribbon scraps

  1. You know the cardboard filler things you get when you buy a new scrapbook to kinda "fill in" around the holes of the pages in the scrapbook? Gosh, I have no idea what they are called...anyway, I never use those because my scrapbooks are always so full and I don't need any help filling in space. I've been saving those because I think they are going to be great to wrap some ribbon around here shortly! ;) Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I love the way you use things you already have in your stash and I hate throwing away anything so this works great. Love the colour combination of your ribbons.

  4. Oh garsh, *blushing*, my name in YOUR headline. I'm humbled - thank you for the "shout out". This combo and card are both yummilicious and sweet. I think I'll have to try this. And BTW - I think you and JoanB should write a book together or start a blog together - you both give your readers serious cause for a morning chuckle. (Or a morning tear, whichever the case may be.)
