More Good-Bye to Bold Brights

First of all, thanks so much for all the kind comments and emails regarding yesterday's post. Y'all are the best! I purged ribbon yesterday, and it felt SO GOOD!

Second, most of the bold brights are going away, and I'm going to enjoy the stash I have for quite a while to come. Also, every time I go to Michael's, I see premade embellishments and think, "Gee, I could make stuff like that with my punches...especially the flowers." So I decided to play with this large flower punch from SU and use my bold brights. For all three cards, I colored large clear gemstones with Bic Mark-Its to match.

I started with passion pink.

Then moved on to yo-yo yellow. I don't know why people hate this color. Used with lots of white, it's really quite cheery. And not sure why the sentiment looks purple. It's really gray.

Finally, lovely lilac.

Curling up the petals of the layerd flowers is easy, but I'm not sure how it will stand up to being mailed. It's one of those tricks that seems really good at first but may not be exactly, you know, practical.

Here are the four prizes for this month's OLW participant drawing. Each bag contains 10 Hero Hues cards and envelopes and a package of bling, all courtesy of the very kind Diane at Stampin'Treasures. The random drawing will take place June 1, with the four winners being announced that day.

stamps: PTI Text Style, Simple Little Things
ink: SU lovely lilac, yo-yo yellow, passion pink; Memento London Fog
paper: PTI white; SU lovely lilac, yo-yo yellow, passion pink
accessories: flower punch (SU), rhinestones, Bic Mark-It Markers

  1. Hey Susan - Yeah, I never really understood the venomous reaction to yo-yo yellow either; it's such a bright and cheery color! And I gotta say, you made even Lovely Lilac look great -- and that's a color I won't miss! Fun stuff!

PS: my verification word is "subsing," which I think needs to be a real word -- maybe what happens in a choir when the director takes a day off? hee.

  2. Aren't those word verifications great? I collect them. (Wow, there's a geek-check for you!) "Subsing" definitely deserves to be a real word. Some of my favorites are "mooloot," "glerc," and "unsin."

  3. Such bright and cheery cards - sure to warm anyone's heart. I've always really like YoYo Yellow with white a black - so crisp and clean.

  4. Hi there,
Just love what you've done today, bright cheery cards.
I guess if you use silicone glue you could support your flowers in the post but thinking about it when the flowers are bent up the glue would show, maybe that's why most people curl their flowers back........?

  5. Lovely trio of flower cards....fresh and pretty!
    Susan G.

  6. cheery that's the word of the day...agree it is fun to see if we can make the embellishemnts we see for sale...some however are worth the money...tried a tiny duck once, mutilated him so badly animal welfare threatened to come and stop the madness. poor thing never made a card

  7. Love yo yo yellow, very cheerful and one of my favourite colours. Love your flowers, better than many embellishments for sale

  10. Found a typo in my comment so deleted goes your to the clean lines and white cardstock. I like to make embellishments too. My plan is to read all your back posts. Thanks for sharing--you have a gift and your creations inspire me. I'm new to card making and rubber stamping but am already addicted. Hope this is typo free.

  11. Such summery cards Susan - love those bright colours too! Kate x

  12. Your cards are "nizers"! My word verification but I think it fits a description of your cards nizely. I especially love the yellows....

  13. These are so great. Beautiful color. I love the use of the words.

  14. I too like bright colours with lots of white space to set them off. This is a fab trio! (My word verification word is "crusl"... I don't think I like that one, it sounds mean!)

  15. I love these cards! You always take an idea and make it breathtaking Susan!

I love the little prize packs too, good luck everyone!

  19. Hi Susan,

I noticed that you use a lot of Memento Ink and since I adore your art I wanted to try some for myself! Unfortunately, I have been unable to find it at my local Michaels =( Where do you recommending finding Memento ink pads? Thank you!

Thank you so much for taking time to comment!
