Punchin' Some Waves

I'll never ride any waves on a surfboard, but I sure can punch them out using the Fiskar's wave border punch.

The punch gives a ground, so to speak, to the image, so it isn't floating in space. Presumably the lighthouse is on a rock or ground, but we're looking at it from the ocean, maybe from a sea kayak.

Have I mentioned how much I enjoy sea kayaks? Well, I do. They're lovely, especially when seals are poking their heads up around you.

Making this card reminded me that I really need to use my border punches more. They can be awesome for clean and simple cards!

Supplies
stamps: A Muse Life's a Breeze
ink: Memento black
paper: Papertrey white, SU brocade blue
accessories: Memento marker, yellow rhinestone, Fiskar's wave punch, dimensionals

  1. I surfed in Costa Rica. That gives you a punch! I'll never get that sand out of bathing suit, but my sinuses were clean!

Great card. That is a gorgeous blue.

  2. This is a cute card. :) I find Fiskers to be the best border punches. What do you think, Susan?

  3. I do like them a lot, Hannah. They seem to work better with thick card stock than the Martha Stewart ones, at least for me.

  6. I agree. I broke one of my Martha Stewart punches that way. Now I avoid them like the plague... Far too pricey to break.

  7. This card is great, Susan. I love lighthouses and all things nautical. I also agree that Fiskars makes solid punches. I may have to get this wave punch.

  8. I totally LOVE how the waves 'ground' the lighthouse. My favorite punch brand is EK Success - I've managed to break Fiskars AND MS punches...sigh. I've used that wave punch as a border topper on my card liners when creating with darker cardstock. Adds a fabulous visual interest.

  10. How nice--another lighthouse stamp. This one is perfect for the perspective you chose. The wave is more effective for this stamp than a rock would be. As for the seals...they're cute but they are predatory pests here in the Pacific NW. They are disseminating our salmon and other fish. Is it OK for me to have those who are trying to control their numbers send you some? ;-) They can also be very aggressive, as if they're not eating enough and need to protect their catch, which is the furthest thing from the truth here. I like the kayaking idea, though.

  11. Oh Susan, I'm enjoying all these nautical posts. The way you used the wave punch to anchor your image is brilliant.
