Happy Sigh

Ahhhh. So soothing. So pretty and girly and sweet. So SIMPLE! This card turned out BETTER than I imagined it. Wow. That hardly ever happens.

And now for a word about butterfly butts. I know lots of stamp designers and stampers have dots (poo) or swirls (gaseous farts) coming out of butterfly butts. I personally have used this technique for indicating the movement of butterflies (and dragonflies) myself, but every time, I cringe a bit. Am I the only person who finds this mildly disturbing? I very deliberately placed my big butterfly over the swirl so it would NOT look like the butterfly was farting curly foliage. The shadow sort of hides how the swirl appears under his wing, thus indicating he's flying over foliage, not farting it.

Or do I just need therapy for being too AR? Get it? AR? Haa, haa, haa.

I think I just answered my own question. Sorry to have bothered you.

  2. You're funny! I thought I'd leave a comment because I love the simple elegance of your card. Now, thanks to you, every time I see a butterfly card with 'trails' (which I make too) I'm going to think of butterfly poop... (do they? Poop, that is?) It never even occurred to me before. Thank you for that. :P

  14. LOL! Thank you so much for giving me a good laugh! It's just what I needed after a stressful week. And although I looooooove butterflies and dragonflies, I've never had them poo or fart. Maybe I should try that. Thanks for the laugh!

  16. I was sitting here swooning over your card, it's soooooooooo soothing, and then I read your commentary and laughed out loud. I have to go look at the card I did with butterflies this morning and see what might be happening that I never imagined.

I've wanted to take an art-appreciation course, so I know how and what to look for. Will they teach me what it means when the butterfly has trailings? :-)

    You're sooo fun, Susan!

  17. Oh my goodness. Thanks for the good chuckle tonight. I seriously have tears coming down my face (after attempting to read your post to my husband...reading it out loud just put me over the edge.) Beautiful card, by the way!

  22. Maybe I am too asinine to get why it is a problem that you are AR (hee hee - I'm funny too!)
Pretty card - wish my boys tooted pretty "foliage"!!

  23. Sorry you've got me here - what on earth does AR stand for? This must be an Americanism....and I hate you for spoiling my lovely butterfly thoughts!!! How COULD YOU!!! I'll never be able to see them without thinking of your comment.......seriously you have a point and I was joking really.
I love all your cards...they are just elegant as I've often said.

  24. Joyce,

Sorry to spoil your joy in butterfly emissions!

AR stands for a*al retentive, and is a very bad pun in this post. Michellem's asinine pun is worse, though, and made me spit coffee at my computer, LOL!

Potty humor from an English major. So sad. But not unexpected. On occasion.

  27. LOL - fARt!

I assume you will do or say anything for your art, or for a laugh. And here is one who is truly thankful you do!

Something I feed my butterflies makes them fart also, or poop swirly little dashed lines. Must look into their diet! Oops, just realized my jar of glitter tinsel has been broken into. Hmmm... wonder who the culprits are?

From one of your ARvid fans!

  28. You know posts like this, the one about pears, the snowflake one, etc. are getting me into trouble. I start to see "things" in cards. I made some cards using the holly punch similar to yours. Well, once I added a few berries I am starting to see something else. I need to get my mind out of the gutter. But thanks for the laugh. Some cards will just never look the same again.

  29. This cracked me up! You are so funny! I never thought of the butterfly trail like that. But now I will be hard pressed not to laugh every time I see it or use it like that! Thank you for making me chuckle.
