A Punchy All-White Card

Photographing all-white cards is challenging, to say the least.

My all-white two-step bird punch card looks much better in real life, so I decided I'll send it to a random commenter on this post. That way, at least one of you will get to see how pretty it really is!

Just tell me something that made you happy in the last week. The deadline will be 12:00 noon eastern standard time (USA) on Saturday, January 23, 2010.

I'll go first. It made me very happy to have three girlfriends come over for coffee Wednesday. The whipped cream on my mocha was that their coming made me mop my 5,000 square feet* of wood floor, which was embarrassingly dirty because I spend too much time stamping and blogging and not enough time cleaning my house. Whew. I feel so happy for that confession!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Supplies
stamps: NONE
ink: none
paper: PTI white
accessories: SU two-step punch, Martha Steward border punch, dimensionals, half pearl

*Gross exaggeration for comic effect. It just FEELS that big.

  1. I'm happy this week because life is good. It's warm where I live; I can look out the backdoor and see the birdfeeder; I can see the little tomatoes ripening on the vine and I can hear my DH at his computer in the next room. Yes, life is good.

  2. Susan,
the card does look very pretty, so you did a good job taking the picture.
Last Sunday a friend and I went to a comedy show at a local church. We laughed a lot and afterwards we talked for an hour. Even though she lives in walking distance, we never seem to be able to get together anymore. So it made me happy to finally catch up with her.

    Thanks!
    Petra

  3. I was so happy and blessed this week to learn that my DH, after undergoing a series of tests due to some abnormalities the doctor found during his last check-up, does not have anything seriously wrong with his health.

  7. wow, I thought it was cool when you used a white panel on a white cardbase... this is very cool!! What made me happy this week....I won a door prize at the workshop I attended this week. That is the 3rd win in the last 3 workshops I've attended - maybe I should buy a lottery ticket!!!

  9. I was happy for a 1 pound weight gain at my daughter's follow up doctors appointment this week!

A quick question - is this a standard size A2 card? I have the bird punch on order and he looks larger than I thought (which would be a good thing!). Just curious.

  10. I am happy because you confessed you spend more time stamping than cleaning....just like me!!! And that coming to your blog is a high point of my day!

  11. Beautiful card Susan, and it looks lovely on the screen! Sooooo one thing that made me happy this week? Must be the little boy yesterday at work. A group had come to the library from our local special needs school. I was explaining about the Lord Mayor and his chain of office and said that it was like a very big, gold necklace. 'What, like big bling?' asked the little boy - what a fabulous moment! I will never see the Lord Mayor in the same light again, Jo x

  14. Samantha,

An A2 card is actually a reference to the size of the envelope. A2 envelopes hold a 4.25" x 5.5" card, which is half an 8.5" x 11" piece of cardstock folded in half. This is standard in the US, but other countries have different standards. Most cards I make fit into an A2 envelope. If they're different, I usually give measurements.

    HTH,
    Susan

  15. I'm happy for quite a few things this week : a large button jar gift, finding a craft store that sold 20% less than my reg one (!!),
lunch with Mom & a dear friend and I hate having my treatments, but - knock on wood-I didn't get as sick afterwards. That's a biggie on the gratitude scale :)
Great cards, BTW! I love how the pared down nature really makes your designs shine.

  16. What a wonderful creation, and brave to do it all white!
Something that made me happy last week was having a friend come over to make a few paper-projects. We had a good visit, got a lot done and our sons played nicely together.
It feels like I have not had a lot of time for paper and rubber lately and it was good to take an afternoon off my regular Mom stuff and 'play'.

  17. Hi Susan, Love this white-on-white card!

What has made me happy this week: I got to catch up with a friend I hadn't talked to since before Christmas; painted buntings have been coming to our feeder every day; and my two little kitty-cats bring me daily joy with their funny and friendly ways. Hope you have a great weekend!

  18. LOVE your card! I wish my all white cards would look even half as nice as yours!
My happy moment this past week was getting back to KY from Chgo on Wed before all the ice storms moved through Indiana. Had about an hours worth of dicey weather, but made it home safe and sound.

One thing that made me happy....my washer and dryer. I hate doing laundry, but I am so glad for electricity and appliances that make chores so much easier. I've got a pretty darn good life.

  31. After fostering four kittens and their mom at my house for close to 3 months, (3 of them with very loose bowels)new homes with great loving families were found. I also got to clean up the house and run the vaccum for hours without anyone freaking out.

  32. The card is stunning! I'd love to see it in real life. ;)

What made me happy was finding out that my oldest daughter's basketball tournament wasn't going to interfere with her hunter's safety course (among other things)next week and that we can fit it in to the ever-growing schedule of 'stuff' we do as a family of 6 busy people. So we all will get to watch her team play hard and hopefully win to play again later in the week (which also doesn't interfere with any other event!!).

I'm also happy that I went grocery shopping this morning and I got to talk to the butcher. And, finally! I attended a new yoga class on Wednesday that put me in a great place on Thursday.

  38. Now that I am reviewing the whole week, I see many happy things. One was attending a stamping party Monday night and this bird punch is one of the things I ordered. Now I have another idea for using it and I'm pretty sure I would never, ever have thought of putting a white bird on white branch on white card - lovely as always!

  41. Here's what made me happy. I found out that my husband will be coming home from residential physical rehab tomorrow, 1/23. He recently had a hip replacement and it's been really hard for him. He needs to be home and pampered. My work is just beginning!!!! ;-)

  50. that card is stunning. This week I got a compliment about my new haircut from a young girl. I am losing weight and not feeling good about myself sometimes, and this perked me up.

  51. At first I thought you were serious about your 5,000 square feet. I mean, there are people building houses that big these days. And when I see these houses (on HGTV and such) all I think about is how much time it would take to clean something that large.

Anyway... I think this very elegant in white on white. And look.. no stamps.

The thing that made me happiest this week was being able to let my cat, Dusty, out of the sun room for the first time in 2 weeks. He had had radiation therapy and being that he was still radioactive, he had to be confined for 2 weeks and I couldn't have any contact with him (I have a diminished immune system and he would have been a threat to my health so hubby did the caretaking). Letting him out, picking him up and being able to nuzzle him put a big smile on my face.

  53. This is a fabulous card and you're "enabling" me into buying that die from SU? What made me happy this week is somewhat simple in that I finally got time in my craft room last night and finished two dozen cards for a swap (two different swaps and styles of cards). It's been awhile since I've had that much "stamping gratification".

  56. Last week it was in the 70's and after a very cold 2 weeks it was wonderful! After I got home from work I went out into the garden and the chickens went with me. We were all very happy to be digging in the soil. I was going after weeds and they were going after worms. Ahhh...how could it be any better?

  57. I love visiting your blog every day because it is so clean and uncluttered. Oh yes and then there are those beautiful cards! I am happy you let the housework go so you can post for us :)

  58. Beautiful card as ever ...
Having girlfriends round for coffee and stamping last week made me happy. (I too had to clean house first so knowing you're the same also made me happy!!!)

  59. Ha ha. How many square feet would you dedicate to a craft room if you had a 5000 sq ft home?

What made me happy was when I had a bunch of girlfriends come over for a card making night. We had a blast and made cards so lovely no one wants to give them away.

  60. Bernadette,

Right now, I have a 10'x11' spare bedroom as my craft space. Even if my whole house were 5000 square feet, I'd stick with this space. It's perfect, not too big and not too small. It's just right.

    Signed,

PS "It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got." For once, I've reached that!

  61. Very striking card; I've been in white cards lately...they have such an elegance about them! Your card has inspired me to step it up a notch and do some layering too.

What made me happy? I was off work for 3 days this week and it felt like I had been off all summer. I did crafting; I had a 'date' with my husband; and my other important guy (our dog) just loved having me home. Couldn't get much better than that.

  62. I think your card is lovely! I am happy to have helped my husband paint two sides of our sadly neglected home. It was really in bad shape and we are in the process of refinancing, we you know will include an appraisal. Three gallons of paint and a team effort produced a nice result. A little hard work has made me happy!

  63. Hi Susan! It makes me VERY happy to know that there is someone else is this wonderful world of ours who enjoys having friends over and yes, sometimes the floor DOES get mopped in anticipation of said event. Also BIG CONGRATS on your great news about Jack's progress! You Go GIRL!!! (KellyL in NM)

The happiest moment for me last week was when I was able to pick up my 12 year old Maltese, Patches, from the vet hospital. It was her second time there in less than a week. She had had a mass around one of her back molars and there was a chance that it could have been cancer. The pathologist worked overtime in order to give us the awesome news that it was just a very bad infection instead of cancer. I felt so giddy I could hardly contain myself. It made the two hour trip home so much better. Patches is a rescue dog who has had two near death bouts with auto-immune issues. Dispite her many illnesses she is a very happy and loving dog. She brings many smiles to my face.
