My card is smaller, a 4.25" square. I substituted a white card base and a linen-like Chatterbox patterened paper on top, which allowed me to easily eliminate the tag/sentiment and move the sentiment to the bottom right corner...necessary to balance my simplified version. I also switched the border punch from the pretty lace punch she used to a simple dotted wave.
The result is a totally different look. Where Suzanne's card is warm and cozy and shabby chic, my make-over is crisp and bright and graphic.
So just because you look through a magazine and don't see anything that's your "style," remember that you can still get huge inspiration from other styles when you look for a solid base of good design and start substituting product and colors you love.
Supplies

I love yours better, is that ok? 'course I always like yours better:)
ReplyDeleteyes, bright and graphic!! I do love that linen style paper - adds a ton of texture!! thanks for inspiring us to always be looking!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card!! I love the clean look and the colors you chose.
ReplyDeleteI love how you CAS-ified cards yesterday and today! They're beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely!!
ReplyDeleteI love this with the border punch detail...simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for providing rest for the eyes! Less is indeed more! And thanks for the challenge to look at 'average' cards to gain inspiration in spite of the clutter.
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful card... it's impressive what you "see" when you look at others' work whose style might not be your own.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and a great example. You have better eyes than I do. Maybe I'll practice looking at the piles of magazines I have. LOL
ReplyDeleteA very classy card, Susan, yet again. The cardstock is just the right amount of texture, and the ribbon is luxurious.
ReplyDeletei am reminded of how i used to feel in 9th grade geometry. i always had the hardest time trying to figure out a proof on my own, but it made perfect sense when the teacher explained it! i love what you see when you look at a card that is not your style. wow! you are a master, susan! thanks for your insights. marty ferraro
ReplyDeleteYeah, what Marty said!
ReplyDeleteThe colors you use are always so rich and elegant. Makes we want to trash most of my 2 huge cartons of cardstock, mostly bought only because I thought I needed at least two sheets of every color in the world, just in case! And why am I saving all those pieces of ribbon that could NEVER be rich and/or elegant?
Thanks, Susan. You've changed my vision a ton!
Another fabulous card Susan - so clean and fresh and brilliant! Jo x
ReplyDeleteLike yesterday's post, the original card is interesting but there is a lot going on. I do like your simpler version with the contrast of the colors.
ReplyDeleteBut wait... you mentioned Chatterbox paper. That means you DO buy patterned paper (you had mentioned not buying it in an earlier post). But whereas I would have used the other printed side (I'm familiar with that line of papers) you went with the simple linen side. I like it. I may have to re-examine my Chatterbox papers.
Susan,
ReplyDeleteI DO buy patterened paper; I just don't use it on cards often because I find it to be very, very hard for me. I DO use it on scrapbook pages quite happily, though. Not sure why it's easier for me to use it on sb pages, but it is, and I'm grateful, LOL!
And Chatterbox is one of my faves precisely because one side usually has the linen-texture solid rather than the print. I adore having a choice.
Susan
Oh to have your vision to see through the 'clutter' (I use that word kindly!) and produce beautiful CAS cards ... I really must try harder!
ReplyDeleteTFS all your thoughts and ideas.
BTW I struggle with patterned paper ... love it when I buy it then can never quite get the look I want when I try to use it!!!
Elegant, and I love the new PTI new (waiting to get mine!). Thanks, Susan!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the changes you've made, Susan!! Soooo beautiful and perfect!!
ReplyDeleteLove your interpretation!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhh.... just perfect!
